00:00 - 18:0018:00 - 00:00

6:01 PM
I played 7 first
And it's widely regarded as one of the best RPGs of all time

Do you have any experience with 9-14?
I should be able to run those.
14 will be tricky.

@KyleKanos strange, your meme doesn't work in another chat room :-/

@0celo7 Never really liked 9, disliked the VA on 10 but was otherwise a good game, played 11 for ~1 month (it's an MMO), 12 was decent, never played 13, 13-2 or 14

VA?
Why do you hate Virginia?
Or do you mean the VA? Everyone hates them!

Voice Acting

6:06 PM
Hell, I dislike Oblivion's VA, but I imagine I'll log 100s of hours.
@KyleKanos Have you watched runs of 13, 14?
Do they look good?
I'll be getting 7 tonight. I'll trust you that it's good.

@0celo7 I have not watched either
I know 13 is roughly 5.5 hours, but I've not actually seen it

5.5 hours? So that's like 15 hours for a human?

I think someone said there's between 50 and 60 hours of actual content in 13

Holy crap!
Will have to do research on these games.
Do they have any replayability?

w.r.t. 13 & 14, not a clue. With 7 & 8, there are many side quests to do

6:15 PM
The others I can emulate?

Well you can probably emulate 1-9 b/c they're on NES, SNES or PSX
So as long as you have the ROM or ISO, you can run it

Uh-oh, the game is rated T. I don't know if I can legally play it...

T is for Toddler, right?

lol
Should I emulate 7 or is it worth $12 for an official copy?

Being a guy who tries not breaking laws, I'd say buy it

6:22 PM
Should I wait for that?
Probably won't be PC though

It's definitely slated for PS4, not sure about PC port, and no announced date yet
So no, play the original

Aight, back to work.

I feel really dumb for asking this, but... Are all flat connections also metric?

@Danu Interesting question.

6:38 PM
I know the flat connection on $\underline{\mathbb{R}}^n$ is supposed to be
but I'm not even entirely sure how to show it

Underline?

Trivial bundle

I don't understand, the trivial bundle is a classification of various bundles, not a specific bundle, is it?

6:59 PM
The trivial bundle $\underline{\mathbb{R}}^n\to M$ is just $M\times \mathbb{R}^n$
It's globally a product (i.e. trivial), not just locally

7:42 PM
@KyleKanos Are there texture mods for FF7?

@0celo7 Yes: see kotaku.com/… for a start

@KyleKanos gg

Q: Upcoming login changes

Anna LearAs y'all know, our current flavor of "global authentication" leaves a few things to be desired. It's flaky, requires a page refresh, etc. etc. Wouldn't it be nice if you could just sign in once and be automatically logged in across the network? We are ready to roll out Stage 1 of Project "Make...

8:39 PM
Didn't know about the first one.

8:53 PM
Also: this guy got suckered and it's a shame:

Q: Flash disk capacity turns from 32GB to 4MB

user466672I have a new(really new) 32 GB that was bought from Hong Kong, ok it was China made. When I plug it in, it's detected, I open properties and it is 31,2 GB. but it force me to format it. but I cant then I browse the internet and a forum told me to change the letter to L. after that I searched many...

@KyleKanos There are so many games!!
There are dozens of games I never played on console and I now have the chance to play!

9:37 PM
Steam thread where people are complaining about games being locked at 60fps...wtf
"60fps is still enjoyable"
???????

9:48 PM
@KyleKanos Fantastic thought ("not a beautiful and unique snowflake..."), but risky: only certain types of reviewers are going to appreciate it. Are you feeling so confident about your chances of getting a good job that you are willing to lose that one if the wrong person reads your application first?

2 hours later…
11:35 PM
@dmckee I think anyone who's watched the movie more than once would get the reference. But I didn't actually put that one down, I'm not willing to gamble that they actually skip over that question
Maybe if had a job & were looking for something else I might do it, but not while I'm currently without

@KyleKanos Didn't know there was a movie involved. But I read College Misery.

I thought that was Wikipedia, not WIkiquote.
Fight Club is a 1999 neo-noir film based on the 1996 novel of the same name by Chuck Palahniuk. The film was directed by David Fincher, and stars Brad Pitt, Edward Norton and Helena Bonham Carter. Norton plays the unnamed protagonist, an "everyman" who is discontented with his white-collar job. He forms a "fight club" with soap maker Tyler Durden, played by Pitt, and they are joined by men who also want to fight recreationally. The narrator becomes embroiled in a relationship with Durden and a dissolute woman, Marla Singer, played by Bonham Carter. Palahniuk's novel was optioned by 20th Century...
The book is quite a bit more dark/depressing than the movie

Ah. Saw it,but only once and it's been a while.

Last I saw it was well more than 10 years ago. Still could probably quote the movie whilst watching it

@KyleKanos The wife and I attended a screening of Dr. Strangelove once. She still complains about the "precho" as everyone in the room did the lines along with the move.

11:55 PM
Can't say that I've ever attended a movie with pre-echo in play. I know it happens in cult classics, e.g. Dr Strangelove or Rocky Horroy Picture Show, but I've never gone
