@Scimonster oh, is that why I sometimes, but not always, see that get duplicated? Thanks.

@MonicaCellio Tried it as a FF add-on: didn't work. Uninstalled it and then tried it as a Greasemonkey userscript in FF: now at least the "auto" pseudolink appears. Gonna try it out....

@Shokhet shavua tov

@msh210 Shavuah tov :)
....have you figured out what happened with your militantly vegan script yet?

@Shokhet Haven't looked, really.

@msh210 ....FWIW, I use the word "knife" the most; you came in third on that count :)
...actually, that's incorrect. You're tied for second.

@Shokhet Speaking of which, a funny story for you: A family friend of mine was once on the NYC subway (this was long before 9/11) and it was pretty empty, people could sit easily, and he sat near a religious Jew and they got to schmoozing. Well, turns out the guy's an animal shochet, and he has his chalef with him. "Wanna see it?" he asks. "Sure!" He takes out this long knife, and everyone else in the train car goes slightly white.

@msh210 :)
.....I could totally believe my father doing that.....

6:19 AM
@Shokhet Maybe it was he. :-)

@msh210 Hm....so far, he only has a chicken knife, which he bought about two years ago, so it's not likely :)

@Shokhet Ah, no, then.

....I always wonder what I'll say to the police if they decide to search my knapsack on the subway.... "there's a really sharp knife in the biggest pocket; got some syringes in the second pocket...."

@Shokhet Hm, first of all, it should match stuff only in the middle (not start or end) of a comment/cetera. I think. Which is weird.

@msh210 @IsaacMoses said something similar....

@Shokhet looks like it catches everything but initial posts of Q&A

@Shokhet That's a different issue.
... which also seems to be the case.

Hm. Good luck!
....I have to go now; it's late. TZT!

@Shokhet Kol tuv.

@msh210 Oh, those look good. I think i'll copy them when i get to my computer.

Bumped to the top, so that people can comment without my prior approval. Rabbi Miller has recently visited parshablog, and while I have his attention, I was hoping that he would consider and answer to the points raised here. Summary: More debunking of debunkings, from an article by Rabbi Moshe Miller. Was Kapotkia in Israel or in Asia Minor? Previous posts in this series discuss Rabbi Y

@Scimonster I should mention that they're derivative. IIRC some of them I copied wholesale.

@Scimonster Is your username spelled Cnsersmoit? Spelling is done in order bc it's hard to read otherwise. — Double AA ♦ 58 secs ago
It is now. :P

@DoubleAA re your comments to judaism.stackexchange.com/q/53623: There's halachic basis for starting services specifically later than weekdays' on Shabas, though I'd have to find it. That, coupled with the longer prayer, means it usually ends after weekdays' breakfast time if one eats breakfast after services on weekdays.
@DoubleAA re your last comment here: I agree.

4:52 PM
@msh210 This one?
Extremely juvenile, i know. So am i. :P

@Scimonster Not that one.
His last comment here in Bam.

5:25 PM
@NoachmiFrankfurt Did i ever tell you where i would prefer the additions for Motzei Shabbat printed in a siddur? If not, put it right after Maariv, not towards the end, after Shabbat Mincha. Like, where sefirah is printed. Unless you're going to reprint all of maariv at the end, in which case it would make sense.

6:04 PM
@msh210 reproduced. I've been using the userscript (so maybe it came first or maybe I just decided to add to my scripts instead of adding an add-on), but I tried installing the add-on in Firefox on a different computer a couple days ago and it didn't work for me either. Script is fine.
@Scimonster did you know when you did that that you'd be stuck with that for 30 days (absent a mod assist)? :-)

@Scimonster That's also my preference, so that's what I've done. (Sefirah is going to be one of the things in the back, as per the pagination of my grandfather's siddur)

7:03 PM
@Scimonster Hiya @Cnsersmoit! ....I think that move in your comment war was hilarious :D
I got a really random upvote on this answer overnight. Was someone going through old questions?
....that question was last active four months ago....

@Shokhet I've gotten stray votes on questions that were last active two years ago. Somebody was searching or surfing or something and found his way to a post he found helpful -- always cool when that happens. :-)

@MonicaCellio Yup :)
....when I saw the question title in the dropdown, I didn't immediately remember writing that answer....I had to click through to remember that I asked my Zeraim-guru friend for that one :)
....whoever I was discussing name-changes and close-votes with a while ago, check this out:
Oh, it was @MonicaCellio ^^^^

@Shokhet yeah, if the user still exists it uses the current name (not the name at the time of the vote), but if the user no longer exists it uses the name at the time of the vote, not the last known name nor user####. Very weird! There are some "closed by Monica" entries on BH, which is just weird.

7:18 PM
@MonicaCellio That's pretty weird.
....I'm not going to ask @Scimonster to delete his account just so I could see that happen.... :P

@Shokhet yeah, let's not do that. :-)

@Shokhet I wouldn't agree anyways.
@MonicaCellio Oh really?
^__^

@Scimonster @Cnsersmoit :P

@Scimonster that's my understanding. I don't have an account lying around that I want to try the experiment on, though.
But I think there was a time when a couple people were changing their names every day or so and causing rampant confusion, and SE's answer to that was to say "one name-change a month". (Not here, to be clear -- probably on SO or somewhere.)

@MonicaCellio Right, i remember reading about that now.

7:31 PM
@MonicaCellio There's a user on LH who changed their name; it stayed changed for a while....

@Scimonster so I think by default you're going to be Cnsersmoit for the next month, but if that's annoying and you didn't realize up front, you can likely convince a mod to put it back for you.
Once, I should clarify. Because you didn't know. Now you know. :-)

@MonicaCellio Because back in WB time, i changed my icon a lot. So i wasn't thinking about that. Maybe i thought it was only applied on SO.

@Scimonster I'm pretty sure it's just names. Icons you can change at will, same as the other fields in your profile. But names are bound up in comment pings and stuff, so it's more confusing when they change.
(Comment pings do not get updated when a name changes.)

@MonicaCellio I've noticed.

Well, i was going to overhaul my profile for Adar anyways, so might as well stay Cnsersmoit for a few more days. Should i go as ɹǝʇsuoɯıɔs or sǝsoɯ ɔɐɐsı?
Or maybe i'll just stay Cnsersmoit for Adar.

@Scimonster I got a very big kick out of reading that comment thread.
and I upvoted the claim that you are ridiculous.
@msh210 No, as it states, it claims that that particular source is not a source of such a bittul. It says nothing as to whether or not there is. And "lack of bittul b'eichus" is anyways not an answer to the question of a definition of bittul Torah - it just negates one possible definition.

@YeZ It's OK. I did too. ;)

@IsaacMoses that's very useful - I've had many times when I can't find where I made a comment.

Now i have to figure out how to be Cnsersmoit for Purim IRL.

@Scimonster You could dress up as a scrambled egg

@YeZ That crossed my mind. But do that?

YeZ
@Scimonster you could ask!
how did that happen

@YeZ [ask] is a magic link.

@Scimonster doesn't seem very magical to me.
so what do I do to un-magic it?

balphaMost of these now work. My comment below has the following markdown source: On [main], you are expected to write proper English (as advertised on [english.se]), but here on [meta.se] it's more important to have freehand circles, so please [edit] your post, otherwise I'll have to flag you (see...

what happens to my edit descriptions in <5 min edits?

@YeZ You can update them.

YeZ

@Scimonster ?

@YeZ You're talking about on Mi Yodeya, right, when you edit again within 5 minutes?

YeZ
@Scimonster yes. Do those edit descriptions show up anywhere?

@YeZ Ah. Not that i know of. I think they disappear.

@Scimonster I just wrote an amusing one. ALL FOR NOTHING!!!

@YeZ :(
What was it?

@Scimonster In my question I just asked, I added the words "on which" after the word "table" in the last line, and the description was "you probably aren't eating a table"

@YeZ I'm tempted to do another spontaneous stupid thing here, but probably won't.

Q: Tell me BEFORE i change my name that it has 30-day permanence

ScimonsterWhy can I only change my Stack Overflow name once every 30 days? I just went and changed my username on Mi Yodeya to Cnsersmoit (Scimonster scrambled). See comments: Source for reciting all of T'hilim (Psalms) and http://chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/19961013#19961013 However, i did...

@Shokhet ....though I probably wouldn't pull the "I have a license to kill" line in that situation....the police might not appreciate that so much :)
....besides the fact that I don't have my license yet :P
@NoachmiFrankfurt Sure!
....I helped put together a קונטרוס of חבורות a while back; we used MS Word, mostly :)
@NoachmiFrankfurt I followed it; I don't have the time right now, but I'll try to think of some example questions to post later.

@Shokhet Thanks, that's very helpful
