@ChristianHupfer: Have you ever heard of a cartoon named Sitting ducks?
Sitting Ducks is a children's animated television series based on the 1970s "Sitting Ducks" lithograph and the 1998 children's book of the same name, created by the poster artist Michael Bedard. Sitting Ducks first appeared in 2001 in Europe, later debuting in North America on Cartoon Network, in Australia on ABC, in Canada on YTV, in the United Kingdom on Nickelodeon, CITV, Disney XD and in the Japanese version of Cartoon Network. The show lasted for two seasons each comprising 13 episodes, with the last episode shown on July 5, 2003. Reruns of the show were aired on Qubo in 2007 and was later...
It was about two friends, Bill the duck and Aldo the alligator. It was very nice. :)

1:32 AM
@JosephWright — have you come across this year, speaking of optional argument parsing? ctan.org/pkg/lua-alt-getopt

4 hours later…
5:56 AM
@WillRobertson I'll take a look: I'm pretty sure I see what needs to be done now

2 hours later…
8:15 AM
@PauloCereda No, that's completely new too me

@PauloCereda, @WillRobertson I've worked out (just about) how to do enough of argparse to work for l3build

yo'
9:12 AM
@Johannes_B this should become the official name of it :-)

@yo' :-)

yo'
@PauloCereda citing from there:
> A very kind-hearted, good-natured fellow who is always there when needed. One of his dreams is to fly. With the help of his friend DP Carlisle, he tries again and again to fly, and eventually is told that the reason he can't is because ducks became too terrestrial.
(spot one difference ...)

9:27 AM
@yo' ducks aren't too terrestrial? :P
<3

yo'
@PauloCereda well ... I changed one word in the text ...

@ChristianHupfer \ensuremath and be happy!

This is a place where \ensuremath is good. ;-)egreg 1 min ago
@egreg: My first praise by you :-P Feels like... a platin badge ... Thank you

@JosephWright: ooh that's the famous palladium? :)

9:42 AM
Will's talk is still blocked. :(

@PauloCereda Huh?

yo'
@PauloCereda my talk is ... still not there :-P

@PauloCereda Ah, talk is up: yes, that's palladium

@yo' :(
@JosephWright I have a script that runs periodically while not all videos are downloaded. :)

9:45 AM
I hate doing the housework ... I want to have a household robot doing that for me...It will be paid of course ;-)

yo'
@PauloCereda give it some time :-)

@ChristianHupfer roomba? :)

@PauloCereda Does the talk make sense?

@JosephWright It does, surely. :)

9:53 AM
@PauloCereda Fingers-crossed the FAQ talk gets some attention

@JosephWright It will. :) I also have some updates in a couple of days but it's a secret. :)

yo'
@PauloCereda oh Paulo's secrets <3

@ChristianHupfer @clemens Some Germans need to listen to youtube.com/watch?v=mnjahffO7eI

@Johannes_B Oh my
@PauloCereda DuckTeX? 'How to teach TeX to Ducks' perhaps?

@ChristianHupfer DuckTeX is in the list. :)

10:28 AM
@PauloCereda I am excited ...

This excited? :)

@PauloCereda Yes, excited like that goose :-P

@ChristianHupfer oy

@PauloCereda You know me -- I just want to annoy you

@ChristianHupfer <3
@ChristianHupfer: I can't remember, you were playing Smite or Skyrim?

10:34 AM
Adrian (voice over) We interrupt this programme to annoy you and make things generally irritating for you. (From: ibras.dk/montypython/episode30.htm)
@PauloCereda Since I don't know Smite it must be Skyrim then... still not played

@ChristianHupfer Beware of the bloke who does gardening. :)

@PauloCereda I know only one bloke here: @DavidCarlisle ... Does he ... gardening? :D

THE PANTOMIME HORSE IS A SECRET AGENT FILM.
WRITTEN BY TALBOT ROTHWELL AND MIREILLE MATHIEU.
BASED ON AN IDEA BY EDWARD VII.
DIRECTED BY QUEEN JULIANA OF THE NETHERLANDS.
PRODUCED BY SIR ALEC DOUGLAS-HOME AND KING HAAKON OF NORWAY.
A CORPSE-HAKKON PRODUCTION.
Hilarious...

@JosephWright hm interesting. :) Will we need short/long options and/or parameters in the form --a=b?

10:39 AM
@PauloCereda Should be covered

@JosephWright I see. I usually prefer --a b instead of --a=b, but that's me. :)
Mind if I offer some alternative code? :)
I like to write these contraptions. :)

@PauloCereda Go for it

@ChristianHupfer Dear king Haakon, I am not dictating. What.
@JosephWright Added to my today's list. :)

@PauloCereda I've not worried about -abc where a, b, c take no arguments
@PauloCereda Also not covered -e --oop: whatever follows -e is the argument

@PauloCereda Senor Biggles? :D

10:42 AM
@JosephWright It depends on which parser we are using as inspiration. :) We usually refer to that as the GNU parser. :P
@ChristianHupfer Silence, naughty lady of the night! I've never been to Spain. Oh wait, I have. :P

@PauloCereda Doesn't need to be bullet-proof, just vaguely similar to what say pdftex does

@PauloCereda That's some episode of the (lousy!) last season, when Cleese already quit :-(

@JosephWright the bleeding choir invisible says: bullet proof, bullet proof, bullet proof! :)

\begin{playskyrim}... return in \thenomoretimelefttoplay\ hours...

@ChristianHupfer ahem use siunitx for time measurements. :)

10:46 AM
@ChristianHupfer I used to be an adventurer like you ...

@PauloCereda siunitx ??? Never heard of that package @JosephWright :-P
@JosephWright I'll return to that line later on

@JosephWright <3 :-)

@JosephWright No more playing?

Q: Let start work on LaTeX and forget the MS Office

Micky KWhen I start working on LaTeX during my Master Thesis, I enjoy alot. After that I start working on LaTeX regularly and working on different LaTeX templates like CV, Cover Letters etc. Now I am totally depend on LaTeX. So tell me, Now I forget the MS Office and continue working on LaTeX.

Anyone understand what this is after?

@JosephWright Not really, but I added a comment.

yo'
11:36 AM
@JosephWright I left a comment, too. @TorbjørnT.

@JosephWright Big language barrier.

@cfr I just uploaded a new version of Polyglossia (1.42.0) with the fixes to Welsh; it’s already on the CTAN node and should find its way to distributions in the next few days.

@ArthurReutenauer @cfr Ah, iechyd da!
The hwyaden is trying to learn Welsh! :)

Da chi!

@ArthurReutenauer o.O

@UlrikeFischer reminds me of: gotta take a bath today, so that I can test my first ever rubber duck :-)

@egreg: I think I should confirm my talk, should I write to the committee?

@PauloCereda Just present the paper within September 1.

@egreg ooh is there a form?

@PauloCereda There's one for participation.

@egreg Oh. :)

1:18 PM
The first five videos are now available, my script says (after downloading them all!). :)

@JosephWright -- i've read the submitted paper, and i like it a lot. (you'll get a couple of grammar questions in email.) i intend to mention this in my column in the issue after the proceedings. more volunteers to help robin! (i do hope they're competent ones.)

yo'
@barbarabeeton side note: finished one thing 5 minutes ago, I "hop on" the TB article just now

\end{playskyrim}

1:35 PM
@ArthurReutenauer -- we've sent a couple of email messages from ams, and haven't heard back. (we do need an answer, please.)
@yo' -- we've received the "appendix" and are eagerly awaiting the "body" to attach it to. thanks for update.

yo'
@barbarabeeton yes, I know. I'm guilty for the delay.

2:00 PM
@ChristianHupfer I never finished the game. It is too big and i am an explorer. I have to enter every cave, every chest, loot everything.

@Johannes_B You can do that in Skyrim quite a lot :D

@ChristianHupfer In fact, i am a collector/seller I collect every flower, every butterfly etc. and try to sell it.

@Johannes_B It's Skyrim, not a trade simulation game :-P

@ChristianHupfer Still. I enjoy collecting flowers and ore to make potions and jewelry and weaponry to sell. THe fighting part of the game? Not really enjoyed it. As a skilled sniper, i was getting rid of enemies silently from the distance.

@Johannes_B Coward :-P

2:08 PM
@ChristianHupfer Free the slaves, help the people. I am not the fighting guy.
@ChristianHupfer Remember the song i pointed to earlier? Ein bißchen Frieden, a little peace ;-)

@Johannes_B Schnarch :-D
@egreg: One of the quickest closings ever? ;-)

@ChristianHupfer Gold badge hammer

@egreg I know, unfortunately I have none of them so far

@ChristianHupfer FFFFFFAQ

@egreg I know that I need the golden tag badge to have the 'hammer' ;-)

2:19 PM
@JosephWright This question just landed in my review queue for low-quality and close as unclear. Apart from the fact, that the auto-comment is ridiculous, i think this should rather be offtopic (typo) than unclear. But though the answer is short, it is perfectly valid i think. tex.stackexchange.com/questions/259238/…

@Johannes_B I'm happy with unclear. The presented example is on Overleaf and it's excessively long to even try looking in it.

@egreg I didn't even bother to click it since you already left a comment.

Does anybody understand the comments by the O.P. here

Q: List of Acronyms is not in Sans Serif

João1I am making a latex document using Tex Live and TexSudio. I'm using acronym package and I do not know why, when I made the pdf file, the acronyms are not in Sans Serif. The code I'm using is like this: \documentclass[a4paper,12pt]{article} \usepackage{hyperref} \usepackage{acronym} \begin{do...

@egreg You are famous once more! :D

Q: Someone has written 100 thousand (!) answers (graphic design bug)

yo'I was really surprised to see that egreg has written 100570 answers! I thought it's a bit too much, and indeed -- it is. The number of answers blends into the number of questions. In my opinion, this is at least non- aesthetic.

2:54 PM
@yo' :)

yo'
3:22 PM
one column of the article to go!

3:38 PM
@yo' I checked and Jon Skeet has 32090 answers. He has an average just short of 25 points per answer; I have almost 40. ;-)

yo'
@egreg well, there's a SEDE query for "what if rep cap did not exist". I think it would play a significant role here.
@barbarabeeton Karl asked me to make the article "exactly 2 pages, if possible". How "exactly" is "exactly"? How much space can be left in the last column?

@yo' -- if you leave less than half a column empty, that would usually suffice. but since there will be an added "appendix" following your text, you should try harder to leave less than that.

yo'
3:54 PM
@barbarabeeton ok thanks, I'll try

4:17 PM
@barbarabeeton I asked Karl, but since you're here I'll ask you too: should I do something for presenting my paper in Italian for the GuIT meeting?

@egreg -- it should be enough to say that it's the same that was presented at tug 2015 (or based on that paper), and if it's published in arstexnica, reference the tugboat version in a footnote. (check with us before that to get the correct vol/iss/page info.) i need to finish reading what you sent in; i may have another spurious space situation for you that i thought of at 03:00 yesterday morning, but you may already have mentioned it (don't remember from the talk).

4:36 PM
Is this the International Day of Posting Questions as Answers today? I've got at least 8 or 9 of them today in my LQ queue, and I've the impression is very often this day ;-)

yo'
Getting there, I need to re-read the thing to correct all non-sense I've produced, and I need to squeeze it by 1 line to make it fit in 2 pages.

@barbarabeeton That would be interesting to see!

4:57 PM
@yo' -- good show! if it's just one line over, don't worry -- microtype will be applied, and that always helps, or we can apply some other tightening-up mechanism. just as long as it makes sense ... we try to be really fussy about that.

yo'
@barbarabeeton what a relief I don't need to care about that 0.7pt overfull line!
I've printed it to check it, and I'm making some final corrections.
Also, I'm more than happy to hear that I'm not the only twocolumn journal typesetter who uses all available weapons to tame the articles' page flow.

@yo' Never care about overfull boxes when submitting a paper, particularly if @barbarabeeton is in charge of copy editing. ;-)

yo'
@egreg lol :)

5:25 PM
@egreg I always say @barbarabeeton is my typographic guardian angel. :)
@UlrikeFischer: ^^ :)
Sorry, this seller doesn't deliver to Brazil.
:(

5:45 PM
@PauloCereda Looks more frightening than Duck Vader...

@PauloCereda If you want one drop me a mail. The shop is 5 minutes away. (I'm not sure that this is the current duck design, they changed over the years, but one will be there.)

@UlrikeFischer Thank you. :)

1 hour later…
7:01 PM
@PauloCereda: My offer to send you some special ducks to Brazil still holds ...

@ArthurReutenauer Ardderchog!
@PauloCereda Mae'r hwyaden yn dysgu'r iaith.

7:32 PM
@ChristianHupfer well, I'd love me some ducks. :)

@PauloCereda Did @yo' tell you about the ducks he has at home?

@cfr Yay!
@egreg Oh my! Does Tom have ducks?!

@PauloCereda Your postal address send you must, mmhh ... my mail account use you can ... mmmh ;-) Easy the path to Dark Side is ... mmmh

@PauloCereda Sounds like from a beginners book to english :-)

7:38 PM
@Johannes_B Zapped: they look spam-like to me

@JosephWright The second one made me suspicious.

@Johannes_B The heat wave makes many users going mental, provoking questions disguised as answers ;-)

@Johannes_B ooh :)
@ChristianHupfer Ping you I will. :)

8:08 PM
@PauloCereda Yes, I saw them! Now @yo' must share a photo of his ducks!

@egreg ooh I want to see them!

Q: Table - problem with two lines

A. F.Dear TeX Stackexchange I have one issue, when I create my table. As you can see on the picture below, the three black lines don't go to the right but stops under (10): My text look like this: \begin{table}[H] \begin{threeparttable} \renewcommand\arraystretch{1.1} \medskip \renewcommand\tabco...

Look at the first line ;-)

@Oded Do you experience spam floods from users with 400+k reputation?! I understand that "not implemented" is a reason, but I don't see what's wrong with the approach. After all, wasn't image uploading and linking limited in the same way some not so long time ago? — yo' 8 hours ago
@yo': Tom, you've just pwn3d the SE bloke. :)
