@PauloCereda ooh no, arara broke

7:26 AM
@Sebastiano no sorry, I don't use texworks or miktex often so I didn't follow development.

7:45 AM
Since I am also interested in this: github.com/pgf-tikz/pgf/issues/1330 Isn't it normal that if packages write to the aux file and the user deletes the package call before the next compilation run, errors will arise due to remaining commands in the aux file that are then of course undefined? Is this even something a package author should take into account?

@JasperHabicht yes, it's normal. No, one shouldn't.
(without looking at the link)

@Skillmon Nice. Then my comment to the issue at GitHub can stay =D

@JasperHabicht Yes, totally normal: I'd just close the issue myself

@JosephWright Nice! I now used subtrees, but it is good to have this alternative as well!

8:07 AM
@Skillmon oh no, again?!

@UlrikeFischer have fun:-)

Q: Error "\runscript.tlu:918: command failed with exit code 1" running arara

CarLaTeXWhen I run even a simple document like this: % arara: pdflatex % arara: pdflatex \documentclass{book} \begin{document} Hello world! \end{document} I got this error: Process started (PID=7924) >>> __ _ _ __ __ _ _ __ __ _ / _` | '__/ _` | '__/ _` | | (_| | | | (_| | | | (_| | \__,_|_| \__,_|...

@DavidCarlisle thanks, we fixed that one. :)

8:25 AM
@PauloCereda that's what I thought but @CarLaTeX says it's still in 7.1.4 isn't that the version with the fix?

@DavidCarlisle 7.1.5 already hit CTAN, and I got the update earlier today, so hopefuly a TL update will fix it. :)

@PauloCereda breakfast then

@DavidCarlisle oh no

@DavidCarlisle day already passed ... time shift is interesting. I asked Roman already about AF and it probably means that supplement is correct, as it would keep internal lbl structures.

@UlrikeFischer yes so long as it doesn't mean the math gets typeset twice:- the /lbl will end up in the wrong place though I would guess. It would be better to allow them to be duplicated within the mathml and then still replace the whole lot so you can handle aligned equation blocks with multiple labels

8:50 AM
@UlrikeFischer Thank you very much for your reply.

9:26 AM
Oh, number 42: tug.org/tug2024/participants.html. Is that you, @PauloCereda

@mickep ooh a secret

@PauloCereda Indeed!

@mickep ooh maybe it's our artist dodo

@PauloCereda She is indeed very secret.

@mickep ooh a super secret

Hi all. Is there a way to get the "non-glue" part of a skip?

10:57 AM
@Lupino do you mean from a register? multiply by 1 (or assign to a dimen register)

@DavidCarlisle thanks, \edef\prev@leftskip{\the\dimen\leftskip\relax} seems to do the trick.

@Lupino er, no that shows the value of the dimen register number (leftskip interpret as a number)

sorry, should read \dimexpr

@Lupino use `\the\dimexpr\leftskip\relax

@DavidCarlisle sorry, was a typo. I had what you wrote. Thanks again.

arara 7.1.5
Copyright (c) 2024, Island of TeX
arara is released under the New BSD license.

New features in version 7.1.5:
* Add (Lua) project support to arara.
* Use a defined domain-specific file system API instead of `java.io.File`.
* Use header mode by default (`-w` restores the old behavior).

See the full changelog of this release at

@PauloCereda Now everything works OK

@PabloGonzálezL first time ever? :-)

1:39 PM
@PabloGonzálezL phew
@DavidCarlisle oh no :)

@DavidCarlisle It works now

@PauloCereda Oh, lua...

@PabloGonzálezL we have a good tech support :)
@CarLaTeX glad to hear, sorry for any inconvenience. Want me to write an answer?
@mickep ooh

2:18 PM
@PauloCereda Maybe it could be useful for other users, thank you!

3:11 PM
If one compiles using `-file-line-error` I can get
./filename.tex:2189: Package daleif Error: aaa.
Is there anyway to also get this with \PackageWarning? This can be useful on a many file document, when one is trying to see where the Hyperref Token warnings are actuallt coming from. Then one does not have to go through the log to file which (./file.tex is active right now.

3:26 PM
@daleif classicallyno as \input doesn't log where it is inputting from but you could probably now use a file hook to define a command that is then used in warnings, in fact I think probably \CurrentFile may be all you need
@daleif try \def\on@line{ on input line \the\inputlineno\space of \CurrentFile}

@DavidCarlisle Some questions start out very well tex.stackexchange.com/q/717515/52406
@AlanMunn You suspect @PauloCereda to be close when...

Oh, monthly context meeting.

@AlanMunn -- Very interesting. Thanks for posting. I love the use of the term "hallucination" to characterize flawed results from interacting with LLMs. From personal connections, I have concluded that good results can be obtained if one is already familiar with the topic being explored, but if researching a topic that is unfamiliar, especially one that has limited coverage in the training corpus, results are likely to be low in value, and quite possibly misleading.
