@DavidCarlisle Now I'm afraid of committing stuff. :)
@tohecz In the South Park universe, the word is marklar. :)

1:31 AM
@StefanKottwitz OK. Thanks. :-)

9:41 AM
@PauloCereda Remember to add a PythonTeX rule for the new Nightingale.

@egreg Sure thing! :) Good morning! :)
@egreg: any plans for a tour today?

@PauloCereda No, we have a marriage today: my cousin's daughter.

@egreg cool! :)

@PauloCereda This is the church where they'll marry, the oldest one in the town
Divenuta...

9:58 AM
@egreg Wow! It looks beautiful!

@PauloCereda The church is now mainly used for marriages. Sestri Levante (where I come for holiday since I was one year old) has the peculiarity of having “two seas”: the old town was on a small island that, during the centuries, become connected to the land; so the town has a small delicious bay at the East and the peninsula is the eastern end of the Golfo del Tigullio, the western end being the mountain above Portofino.

@egreg How nice, the place looks amazing. :)

@PauloCereda It is.

@egreg I really need to send papers to Europe. :P
@egreg: speaking of which, I'm gonna travel to Campo Grande in the middle of September. Two days and airplane thingy, yay! :)

1 hour later…
11:19 AM
I changed my Siri settings to German. Let the fun begin. :)

12:09 PM
@egreg, @JosephWright, @DavidCarlisle: lords.org/mcc/laws-of-cricket/laws-of-cricket-animations/… :)

2 hours later…
1:45 PM
Good MAEN again...

@ChristianHupfer Hallo. :)

@PauloCereda: Ah, Paulo, my friend ....how are you today?

@ChristianHupfer Fine, thanks. :) And you?

@PauloCereda: I'm a little bit tired... organzing a move..., thanks

@ChristianHupfer Oh, everything will be fine. :)

1:51 PM
@PauloCereda: And I had not my daily dosage of the best medicament right now: TeX.SX :D
@PauloCereda: Did I miss anything during the last hours? I am too lazy to scroll right now :D

@ChristianHupfer I don't know either. I'm also lazy. :)

@PauloCereda: ;-)

2:08 PM
@ChristianHupfer Nothing important, but i posted an answer to the KOMA-headsepline-color-question.

@Johannes_B: let me see...
@Johannes_B: quite nice...
Another 'brilliant' question: tex.stackexchange.com/questions/197594/…

2:49 PM
@ChristianHupfer I left a comment there, i think he is looking for section

3:00 PM
@Johannes_B: Seen it... the question allows for many solutions... I would not stick to \parts too, but I've posted a solution with \parts for the moment

@ChristianHupfer I just left a comment. I don't like leaving answers in a hurry. :-)
@ChristianHupfer Also, my battery is almost dead, and offline i can't react to comments/request. Sad Sad.

@Johannes_B: I wrote you once: There is something like a plug for your computer ;-)
@PauloCereda: One of your favourite records, I assume, from your collection? ;-)

@ChristianHupfer Almost 5TB of pristine songs. :)

@ChristianHupfer Re comment on the \part question: was just trying to point out to the OP that this is really an abuse of the LaTeX structuring commands

3:08 PM
@JosephWright Dito!

@JosephWright: Yes, I didn't take it as criticizing me

Q: Beginner Concepts about how latex works

user28968I'm a beginner in latex, I understand that latex requires a Tex editor to compile the code and a distribution to get the libraries installed. However, there are many concepts that still I want expert to clarify. Situation: I'm typing up a CV, which uses a package called fontspec, and a thing cal...

Each part of this has been covered by good quality answers to other questions: what to do?

@JosephWright: Regarding the `\parts.... question... I will add some remarks to my answer and add a better (???) solution later on...
@JosephWright: The question is problematic as it contains multiple subquestions/issues...

@Christian: you can see a live version of that song here, in the Hall of some guy named Albert: :)

@ChristianHupfer Quite
@PauloCereda You know this guy is locked up for various unpleasant things, yes?

3:13 PM
@JosephWright: Who's that guy?

@JosephWright I actually do. :(

@ChristianHupfer Rolf Harris

@JosephWright: Never heard of him... I am quite uneducated ;-)

@JosephWright twelve charges of indecent assault. :(

@ChristianHupfer I know: StackExchange model means it's probably 'too broad' or 'unclear' as a result
@PauloCereda Sounds about right
@ChristianHupfer Famous in the UK and Australia

3:14 PM
@JosephWright Perhaps it's wise to remove the video above. Could you do it? :)

@JosephWright: Just used Wikipedia.... unpleasant things, yes.... but never heard of him... his fame seems to be restricted to UK/US and Australia

@PauloCereda Done

@ChristianHupfer I just know this song of him, actually. To be honest, I was watching one episode of QI (@JosephWright: gotta love Stephen Fry!) and of the buzzers just played this tune. It was quite a catchy song, that's why I brought it up. :)

@ChristianHupfer Yes: I doubt he's known in the US, to be honest

@JosephWright Thank you, kind sir. :)
@Joseph: in other news, I was having fun with Siri by setting other languages. I do not understand why almost all voices are female but the UK. :)
And he doesn't sound English at all.

3:17 PM
@PauloCereda Really?
@PauloCereda You've got an iPhone?

@JosephWright an iPad actually. :)

egreg ... a MAC user, Paulo ... an ipad user ... my world is shattered :-(
/crying
/sobbing desparately

@ChristianHupfer I actually have two Mac machines, four Linux machines, two tablets (an iPad and a Galaxy Tab), but no Windows. at all. :)
Siri with American Spanish accent is so cute. I wanna marry her. :)

Anyone free to pop over to chat.stackexchange.com/rooms/16648/… to help out on the XeTeX question business?

@PauloCereda: Four linux machines? Your own cluster? :D

3:23 PM
I asked her to marry me, but I got tabletzoned. :(
@ChristianHupfer I wish. :)

@PauloCereda: Doing the numerical simulation for my PhD thesis, I built a small cluster of three linux machines with Pentium 4 HT, ten years ago... It was definitely faster than Sun Ultra Sparc rubbish :D
@JosephWright: I am not a Xe(La)TeX user at all, so can't say anything about that
@PauloCereda: My dear... Siri is something like Kate, hm?

@ChristianHupfer No problem: just making people aware of the room I've set up

@ChristianHupfer :)
@ChristianHupfer er... Kate?

@PauloCereda: My package is on TL finally...

@ChristianHupfer Yay, congrats! :)

3:31 PM
@PauloCereda: Kate of Shakespeare's Taming of the Shrew ...(Der Widerspenstigen Zähmung, German Translation)
@PauloCereda: Thanks... I will improve it... according to Macbeth: "The greatest is behind" :D

@ChristianHupfer The Mating of the Wersh?
(@Joseph: let's see if he's worthy ^^)
C'mon @Christian, you can do it. :)

@PauloCereda: A tiny contribution to LaTeX ;-)

@PauloCereda: Oh yes, Rapesheake ;-)

@ChristianHupfer But there's no chance of us knowing more about MP than @JosephWright. :)

3:44 PM
@PauloCereda: Does he know each line by heart?

@ChristianHupfer Ask him. :P

@PauloCereda: I will do ... but for the moment I believe you... temporarily ;-)

@ChristianHupfer I'm a trusted source.~\cite{paulo:2014}
Undefined reference: paulo:2014

@PauloCereda
@PauloCereda: One of my favourites :D

@ChristianHupfer I love this one. :) Goooood niiiiiiiight. :)

3:47 PM
@PauloCereda: 5 4 3 2 1
Another one ;-)
@PauloCereda: Did you know, that J. Cleese was the first one ever to say f... on a funeral eulogy?

@ChristianHupfer I know. :) And Eric Idle wanted to be the last person to say it in the very same service. :)

@PauloCereda: I wonder, what would have happened if Chapman had not died that early... A quicker reunion?
Sad... my favourite footclub lost the match...

4:07 PM
@ChristianHupfer Schalke?

@PauloCereda: No... :D Freiburg... Well, I am not a real fan of football at all, but Freiburg is (or was?) a underdog team all the time

@ChristianHupfer Oh, I thought of trying ( Frei | Augs ) burg, but then I thought it could be Schalke. :)

@PauloCereda: I was born in Freiburg, did my alternative civilian service there, studied there... and I live about 60 km away from that town... and in some weeks it will be only 30 km ...

@ChristianHupfer Cool! :)

@PauloCereda: It was a nice town in the past, but it declined in the last decade, in my point of view... too much crime, a lot of murders recently, drugs, burglaries...

4:13 PM
@ChristianHupfer Quite a worldwide tendency. Where I live is not that different, although we still have very few people in here compared to great capitals. :)

@PauloCereda: Illusionary rents for small flats...
@PauloCereda: Unfortunately ...
@PauloCereda: Well, anyway, I will move back to my home village... no tall buildings, 'no' crime...

@ChristianHupfer Back to the good times. :)
The city I live has nearby 4k people. :)

@PauloCereda.... Yes... and no ... 4k ... that's not much... my home village belongs to a city....altogether about 8k inhabitants
@PauloCereda: Currently I live in a 60k town... it's dirty, smelly, strange
@PauloCereda: I can remember, that your place is about 250 km from SP?

@ChristianHupfer Don't worry, I study in a city of just 12 million people. :)
@ChristianHupfer Yep! :)

@PauloCereda: 12 Mio... that's really much... I believe, the largest city I ever have been to was London...
@PauloCereda: Ok, SP has about 4 Mio. people more than London ... You won :D

4:22 PM
@ChristianHupfer Just 4 million.... get ready, I didn't even mention Greater SP. :)
Greater SP has 20 million people.

@PauloCereda: You won even more :D
Paulo Cereda won the "His study town has more inhabitants" badge :D

@ChristianHupfer Not my town. :) I lose with my town. :)

@PauloCereda: Better? :D

@PauloCereda: Ah, Portuguese... sometimes quite similar to Spanish

4:26 PM
@ChristianHupfer There are lots of photos, that's why I linked. :)

@PauloCereda: I am looking right now..., hold on ;-)
@PauloCereda: Very nice region... how tall are the mountains at the horizon?

@ChristianHupfer About 140 meters, I guess.
The region itself has some greater mountains too. :)

@PauloCereda: Only 140 meters?

@ChristianHupfer I need to find out. :)

@PauloCereda: I mean for example the "rock" in this image (Cidade ao longe), 4th from top

4:33 PM
@ChristianHupfer Ah. :) The problem is that since the land is not even, the best measurement would be sea level thingy, so we could precisely tell the height. But from the "ground", that place is no more than 140 meters.

@PauloCereda: Ok... perhaps it's the viewing point of the camera from that image....

@ChristianHupfer Beats me. :) Anyway, when I organize the TUG meeting here, you all are invited to be my guests, so we can tour. :)

@PauloCereda: TUG meeting? In SP? When?
@PauloCereda: Every participant is hosted in your home, right? :D

@ChristianHupfer It's just a dream so far, but maybe one day. :)

@PauloCereda: I have marked it in my calendar, on one day ;-)
@PauloCereda: I am off for a while... see you later perhaps

5:32 PM
@ChristianHupfer oopsie sorry, I had to go for a while. Have a nice day! :)

1 hour later…
7:01 PM
On another reading of tex.stackexchange.com/questions/197325 now I think it would be subject of meta.tex.stackexchange.com/questions/2763 .

7:25 PM
I think I've been a victim of serial upvoting :)

@tohecz ooh. :)

7:41 PM
@PauloCereda btw, getting a headset mic soon I think (soon = for Xmas or maybe during the spring, I won't need it sooner and the prices will likely drop ;) )

I just got an upvote for tex.stackexchange.com/a/197624/37907
This isn't really an answer. Should i have made it community wiki?

@Johannes_B it's IMHO fine. It doesn't precisely answer the question, but it provides a solution for both the OP and eventual future visitors :) I would just be nice to show that myfigure can appear inside solutions.

@tohecz Floats lost. I need to take a look at this. :-(

@Johannes_B I was afraid of this :(

@tohecz Thanks for the hint. But right now Feierabend ;-)
@tohecz and all the others cu you soon.

7:56 PM
@Johannes_B what?
well, doesn't matter probably

@tohecz Thanks for making me aware that there will be som smurfy stuff.
@tohecz And feierabend means, work is over. ;-)

@Johannes_B ah ok :)

8:15 PM
@tohecz Yay! :)

@PauloCereda it's tricky though, as always, to balance price and quality, and to get as good stuff as possible as cheap as possible
(oh my, that makes four asses!)
I'll probably get a microphone with not optimal frequency response, and a reasonable cheap mixer to provide power and to equalize the mic

if I scale down pages included with pdfpages and set a frame, the frame is not scaled down too... i there a way to do tthis?

8:40 PM
@MarianoSuárez-Alvarez sorry, what is a "frame"?
and Hi, btw! :) (oh my, a guy with 70k math.SE rep!)

@tohecz I added some remarks to the comment.

@Johannes_B I see :)

@tohecz Everyone should be treated the same ;-)

@Johannes_B Nope. I demand a duck. :)
@tohecz And a neighbour! :)
@Mariano: I'm your neighbour. :)

@PauloCereda :-)

8:52 PM
@Johannes_B Quaaaaaaack. :)

@PauloCereda arara

@tohecz \includepdf has a frame option which puts a frame around included pdf pages.
@PauloCereda :-)

@PauloCereda I really should record my little girl saying this. :-)

@Johannes_B :)
Early mass time, be back later! Quaaaack. :)

QUAAAACK :-)

8:56 PM
@PauloCereda cool :)
@MarianoSuárez-Alvarez and the frame works improperly with scaling?

9:08 PM
well, that depends on what one means by properly, of course :-)
The frame does not scale with the included page, so I would say it does not work correctly

@MarianoSuárez-Alvarez it would be best checked with an MWE, but I'm afraid you met a bug which would be OT for the site :(

yup, that was my guess. i have already written the email to the author, just wanted to know if there is a known way to fix it :-)

@MarianoSuárez-Alvarez I don't think so :( however, the last version of the package is only 1 year old, so I think Andreas should be available and respond within a reasonable time :)

1 hour later…
10:14 PM
oh so quiet

@tohecz Björk?

@tohecz The whole of SE seems to be quiet right now.

@TRiG yes, I noticed that, what's happening? French is on strike?

Minor peeve: Why are we notified when edits are approved, but not when they're rejected?
@tohecz Could be. Irish Rail is going on strike soon, I know that.

@TRiG well, enjoy. I got stuck in a French train strike once, curing after a twisted ankle

10:41 PM
@JosephWright who?
