@PauloCereda Nice! Kerning looks still a bit bumpy especially for certain letter pairs Ta or Greek Υα ...

5:08 AM
@PauloCereda oh,so they are improving. Interesting!

@samcarter ooh
@JasperHabicht indeed! I like the shapes, but yes, the font is in early stages. Hopefully the project lives up to their name. :)
@mickep ooh

@JosephWright ooh ducks are very good at classical mechanics

I tried to debug fontspec to work with the font that has a * in its name ("Jost*") and managed to get it working... only to find that (I think) NFSS doesn't like a font with a star in its name either
Anyway, most recent bug fix now sent to CTAN

Ooh! Finally, another palindrome -- Reputation 88,988
Sorry about that comma. I'm beginning to think I'll never get to 6 digits.

@barbarabeeton ^^^ forever preserved in a screenshot :)

@samcarter -- Thank you! I hope I can someday find someone who can help me take screen shots that cover only part of a screen. Certainly the whole screen isn't needed for something like this.

@barbarabeeton Could you remind me which linux distribution you use?

@samcarter -- I'm using Ubuntu. (It's even up to date.)

@barbarabeeton Maybe try this: askubuntu.com/a/1291331

2:26 PM
@samcarter -- Thanks. That looks promising. I'll take a closer look after an important phone call I'm expecting in five minutes.

@barbarabeeton No hurry! There will always be a next palindrome :)

3:09 PM
@DavidCarlisle couldn't you go to Japan?

@barbarabeeton which ubuntu? In mines (I have 22.04 on one machine and 23.10 on another) I just press "Print Screen" key and I have:
...and the shot appears both in the copy buffer (not useful here, but ok on the main site) and as a file in Pictures/Screenshots. That worked out of the box, I didn't configure anything...

@Rmano -- I have 22.04, but when I press "Print Screen", the current window expands to fill the whole screen and there's no option to specify a smaller portion. (The full screen is rather large, so that I can put up multiple windows at the same time. So the "Print Screen" just obliterates the view of everything else. Frustrating. At least pressing "Print Screen" again restores the view to the original configuration.)

@barbarabeeton Try with shift or ctrl --- let me see if I can find the configuration of the keys...
Or with "Fn" (in my laptop it needs "Fn" for mysterious keyboard builder reasons")

@Rmano -- Neither shift nor ctrl does anything useful. Instead, "Print Screen" does nothing.

Next try: open settings, go to keyboard, then "Screenshot" (not seen), then click on "Take a screenshot interactively" and then it should ask you to choose a keyboard combination to start it (I have "Print", and it works...)
Well, wait: I have a "pure Gnome" desktop, so maybe that's the difference?
The other option is to install ksnip (if you use X11, if you are on wayland, better the standard method)

Has someone an idea why I need to specity xmin etc. when using \table? If I put the same table inline, I don't need this strange adjustment ...: tex.stackexchange.com/a/716772/47927 (below part)

Is this a LaTeX-question? Or a SuperUser-question?

Because I don't want my thread to be deleted because of some formal stuff.
Of course, I much prefer the perspective of the LaTeX experts here.

xkcd.com/2929 it misses a \begin{figure}[H] on the top left side

@Rmano Hi dearest :-)-
@UlrikeFischer Hi Ulrike. Do you know recent news for the bad rendering of TeXworks? The rendering of this editor yet has been not fixed. I have sent also an email to mainteiner of MikTeX, but I have not received any message. The question that I had opened has been closed. I not undestood the reason considerate that the editor have these problems. Bye.

7:44 PM
@cis I don't think this is on topic for tex.se. Just because you want to use the font in latex, does not make it a latex question. If you want to ask on superuser, maybe include what you already tried? This would look better.
@cis (and the obvious and easy latex answer would be "use a pdf or saveboxes")
@Rmano :D
@cis Have you considered graphicdesign se? They also have some font and software questions.

cis
8:03 PM
Then I'll try graphicdesign.se (and bet a dollar that they'll send me back to SuperUser).

<---- https://graphicdesign.stackexchange.com/questions/165181/create-color-font-from-ai-or-svg-files

@cis Maybe remove the adobe-illustrator tag and include one for fontforge instead? It would fit better on GD.se if you'd remove the stuff about using it in latex. And maybe show what you tried?

cis
@samcarter The problem is that the original files are '*.ai files' (= Adobe Illustrator); this should already be mentioned; In fact, the SVG export is a little critical in some places.

8:23 PM
@cis If the svg export is "a little critical", maybe your question should actually mention how you exported them? Right now the only indication of what you tried is "Fontlab 8 wants to make me an output test-svg.ttf and test.ttf" and your readers can guess what steps you might have taken...

Hi!
(and goodnight too... Bed time here!)

cis
With rare exceptions: As I see it, you can twist and turn as you want: only AdobeIllustrator itself will convert ai to svg....

I don't really have a clue about the colorfont thing.

@cis Only Illustrator converting to other formats does not sound so surprising.

cis
One could almost assume that Adobe wants tooth and nail to prevent you from being able to use any other program for ai ---> svg.

I mainly do LaTeX / TikZ and Co. - I didn't know that.

PS:
So... if you need a conversion ai ---> svg, just contact me ;)

@cis Ah, but then you have the svg? That seems to be a step in the right direction.

8:42 PM
@cis There are definitely non-adobe routes. Mac preview.app can open ai files and export them as other vector graphics. You should include as much information as possible in your question so people don't have to guess what you might be doing.

@samcarter Ah, inkscape also seems to handle illustrator files.

cis
@mickep Yes... with that programm no big deal:

@cis So, then you have your svg files and the real problem is to make fonts from them?

cis
@samcarter I added the "export-info"
@mickep Correct, but "Color Fonts" from the kind of TwemojiMozilla.ttf (!)....
