7:03 PM
@Ashu: Hope you don't mind my changing. They were a bit, umm, huge! I think bold is enough. But if you disagree, you know what to do. +1 anyway.

I have a question, Does this room allow users who do not have a reputation of 20 to chat?

@AlUmmat Nope

as far as i know, they can read the chat, but they can't talk.

Yeah what he said

well, shouldn't we allow it for this room at least?

7:07 PM
that's a network-wide policy. i doubt we'd be allowed to make an exception.

why? why is there this rule?

@AlUmmat So that new user can't just spam the chat room.
It is basically to keep out people who just want to post ads

and trolls.

ok thank you for your answers

20 reputation is barely even an obstacle for anyone who actually wants to participate.

7:09 PM
yes I understand
just wanted to ask
and get it out of my mind

You don't even have to answer/ask a question. Just suggest edits on 10 posts :-)

(and have them approved)

cool i never knew that

Yeah, if you don't have edit privleges, you can suggest edits.
each approved suggestion gets +2 rep

same with tag wiki suggestions.
i got +4 just for

7:12 PM
Alhamdulillah

@goldPseudo Oh it's +4 for tag wikis?

not sure how that works. i got two notifications of +2 Tag Wiki, +2 Tag Wiki.

is it ok to have stuff from wikipedia in tag wikis

not sure if it needs to be peer reviewed twice, or if the summary and the full entry are voted separately, or what.
as long as it's attributed, i think it's fine.

@AlUmmat Yes, but don't make the whole thing a Wikipedia article and attribute them

7:14 PM
pretty sure we're using the same license as wikipedia. CC Attribution Share-Alike

With a link to the page
@goldPseudo I'll check
@goldPseudo Same license
You know, compared to other Private/Public Beta sites. We have some really good, high rep users.
3

How much is considered high rep in this stage?

@yasar11732 Well, it's hard to say. I was a
commiter to Sports.SE
And they had one 1k user at Public Beta time.

what is 1k?

1000 rep. Sorry if that was misunderstood.

7:25 PM
no it is ok, now I understand
Is this a good summery of what backbiting is :"Backbiting (Gheebah الغيبة) is telling about someone what he/she would not like to be known, to the public. Backbiting is forbidden in Islam."

@AlUmmat I think it is.

7:51 PM
can anyone see this page islam.stackexchange.com/review\

@AlUmmat I can see the page, but I can't see anything waiting for review.

hmm.. well I just wanted to ask

@AlUmmat can't you see the page?

yes

8:07 PM
what would you call the sections of the Qur'an in english?

ayat, surah, juz ?

Yes, Ayah, Surat Hizb, Juz, Manzal, what are all those called in english? not each one but all of them.
@YasserZamani Asalamu wa alaikum

I think transliterations are fun.

@yasar11732 what do you mean?

@AlUmmat, Hi :)

8:11 PM
I was thinking something else while writing that, I meant to say "I think transliterations are fine."

@YasserZamani how are you?

we don't need to use English translations.

@AlUmmat, I'm fine,tnnx, sorry now I should sign out, see you later guys

@yasar11732 I just want to know just in case someone asks me, oh by the way do you know what a Manzil much it is?
@YasserZamani salaam wa alaikum good bye

@AlUmmat I don't know what Manzil means.

8:15 PM
It means home, but here it means the coming down

8:50 PM
A question, would our community have a newsletter?

1 hour later…
10:08 PM
"ayah" and "surah" roughly translate to "verse" and "chapter" in the context of Qur'an.

question, would our community have a newsletter?

hizb, juz and manzil don't really have a common translation that i know of. i would pretty much translate them all as "section" or "part".

@goldPseudo thank you

i don't know about a newsletter, but if we get enough knowledgeable people who can write well, we might want to consider a blog.

Every Stack Exchange site starts with a Q&A site, made up of three pieces that help bring the whole community together:

bicycles.stackexchange.com, the main Q&A site

meta.bicycles.stackexchange.com, questions about community and administrative matters

chat.bicycles.stackexchange.com, the third place for real-time collaborations

But wait, there’s more?

A couple months ago, the Super User community took it upon themselves to create a blog run by the community. This effort has been so successful that a couple other communities floated the idea amongst themselves. Internally, we recognize …

I would love to contribute to this

10:14 PM
but i wouldn't worry about that for right now, it can wait until after we've gone public and have a lot of people who are willing to contribute.
we don't want to have only one or two "big" contributors doing most or all of the work.

yes we just have to ask, of course
I have a question about chat rooms, if you are a owner of a chat room can you delete it?

i don't think so. i think they just auto-delete if they're not used for a week.

ok

10:32 PM
we only have 180 commiters here in the privet beta.

127 total users.
out of 222 committers.

very little

i'm not sure if that's normal for a private beta or not.
a lot of the committers would've been early adopters, back when the site was first proposed over a year ago.
so they may not even be paying attention right now.

weren't email with links sent?

yes.

10:37 PM
well ok

it's possible they're busy with other sites now, or even that they don't check their email.

yes that maybe it

or perhaps they just don't have any good questions to ask because we've asked them all, so they're trying to come up with their own.

:P

i wouldn't worry about it too much. we've got a pretty good group of active users here right now.

10:39 PM
Alhhamdulillah

i'm working on an answer to this question right now

Q: What are the practical within the Earth advantages to being a Muslim?

Yasser Zamani[The answer is critical for me and really I need help] For years I almost had Mumin/Believer's signs cited in Quran. But after a while I found out that this makes the life for me hard and for others easy. I had to decide if I can do X or Y. I had to have stress to keep God satisfied. I had to fo...

i found it very easy, but very hard to answer if you know what i mean

yeah, i know what you mean.

Alhamdulillah

i'm answering as much because i think i can help the questioner, as i am because i'm curious if i'll get downvoted just for quoting the Bible. :)

10:46 PM
i usually do not like being downvoted but i have learned

i don't think anyone likes it. just have to take disagreements in stride.

yes

11:29 PM
this is a very difficult question to answer correctly.

I suggest to take time to take it in

oh i am.

for the quality of the answer and usefulness

the correct answer fundamentally revolves around "A people asked such [questions] before you; then they became thereby disbelievers." (5:102), but that's the cause of his problem rather than the solution to his problem.
going back and unlearning everything you know is hardly recommended.
