11:00 PM
@spugsley I WANT CHICKEN. :(

@spugsley you call that snow? This is snow:

@LessPop_MoreFizz it's the best kind. Seasoned with paprika and garlic powder and other yummy things and baked and DELICIOUS
@MBraedley yeah but it's hard to make that look pretty and photographic
also it's a lot deeper now
7 inches or so
DO NOT STAR 7 INCHES

@spugsley SO HUNGRY. :(

@spugsley ... You should know me better than that.

@FEichinger oh it was you :3 ok then

11:03 PM

@spugsley ...

@FEichinger :3333333333333

11:04 PM
cc @Wipqozn @RedRiderX?

that's the one I wanted to post

@MBraedley seems like a great use of space

@spugsley ...²
(Which should be something like this: ⫶⫶⫶)

O_o

@MBraedley Dude, you're supposed to defrost your fridge! :P (Yes, I know it's snow)

11:05 PM
@Frank I stopped watching a few episodes into the fairy arc.

@Wipqozn Boo!
You're not ready for season 2, then!

@spugsley Chicken was meant to be fried!

@DavidM not this chicken. Let's just hope I don't lose power before it's done
it's been sleeting for the last 4 hours

Who was the one who hated sloths again?
@OrigamiRobot?

11:08 PM
@spugsley 7 inches isn't really worth starring

Q: What is the Capacity Core Shop used for?

Memor-XIn the Mulkuth Capital in the building where the food, item and equipment vendors are, upstairs there's a Capacity Core Shop, when i talk to the vendor however first a list appears of the core then i have then i cycle though other lists which only the first has Capacity Cores appearing in it with...

@Yuki Yes

@kalina I think 7 inches is a fine number

cc @OrigamiRobot

11:08 PM
I got one of those for when the power goes out and I can't get to the grill.

@spugsley I think 8 inches is a better number

@kalina That's just excessive.

@Fluttershy no 10 inches is excessive

@kalina Certainly makes you less lightheaded than 12 would.

11:09 PM
@kalina I like 6 inches better. Too many inches can be a bad thing.
we are still talking about snow
btw

@spugsley of course

@spugsley Are we...? O_o

@Fluttershy obvi

@Fluttershy I was just going to say that . . .

Now I want to know what @Fluttershy went with.

11:10 PM
but if it's enough inches for my boots to completely disappear then I don't feel bad about not going to work

@FEichinger Penis size, follow along.

@DavidM nah, we're talking about snow

@DavidM Oh come on, that would be too simple!

@kalina Out of context that sounds REALLY dirty!

I bet he has an elaborate explanation for himself.

11:10 PM
@DavidM does it? It's not my fault you're a pervert

@DavidM That sounds less dirty than most of what she said before that.

@DavidM 12 inches would hurt, I guess you have a soft landing though

@kalina That's true. It's the cross I have to bear.

Thanks for narrowing things down for me, Steam.

So, I'm up in the mountains skiing, and they're forecasting more snow at home than here! WTF, weather?!?

11:14 PM
@Fluttershy I totally saw what Steam did there...

@DavidM west of the rocky mountain ridge line has had a pretty mild winter this year, all told.
well, aside from the drought.

@LessPop_MoreFizz It has. The skiing is still 10x better than the East coast, though.

Night Vale live tour just added Northampton MA, Columbus, OH and Houston for those so inclined.
And as I understand it, that's the last dates that'll be added.
@DavidM I actually like the harder packed snow you get on east coast slopes, tbqh.

@LessPop_MoreFizz Ooo, Houston.

11:24 PM
@LessPop_MoreFizz When it is present on the slopes, I do too. But, I'm starting to appreciate powder, now. It's taken a complete overhaul of the way I ski

@DavidM Yea, I find that real powder skiing like that kills my knees.

@LessPop_MoreFizz Mine, too. But, it's getting better.

(Whereas east coast stuff is definitely harder on the calves and back.)

Q: New levels "cheater"?

GraniniI've built three New levels but they are called "cheater" (I have the German version so it's actually "Betrüger") I can build items there e.g. 10 tier 1 items and get gold but surely it's a bug? I definitely didn't cheat, I wouldn't even know how...

11:26 PM
@LessPop_MoreFizz The runs are too short, and there is a lot more ice on the East coast.

@DavidM Eh, a lot of what people call ice is just hardpack in my experience.
I'm with you on short runs though; you've gotta really hit up Vermont/NH/Maine to get to a mountain with enough vertical to really provide a nice satisfying trip down.

FAE
I grew up across the lake from a ski resort but I only ever went there once.

@LessPop_MoreFizz I'm talking about the yellow ice that makes your skis chatter. But, yeah most people think that hard pack is ice.

FAE
though I did a little water skiing when I was younger, that was fun

The IndieRoyale Meteorite Bundle.
This has one of my favourite games in it (Bleed).
Only other one I've played is Not the Robots, which is also pretty good.

11:29 PM
@FAE water skiing > downhill skiing

aaaaaaa, big steel wheels is the bonus album!

@GnomeSlice I own everything except the Uncharted rip-off, that Desura game, and Arcane Worlds. <_<

@Fluttershy More than one of them is on Desura.
Bad Smell?
Doesn't look very good.

FAE
@MBraedley That's something I'd be willing to do again. I probably wouldn't do downhill skiing anymore because I'm too afraid of getting more head injuries.

@MBraedley I never cared for it. But, then again, I detest swimming in natural water.

11:31 PM
No Time to Explain is actually kinda fun. :P

@FAE you've had concussions before?

@Fluttershy I haven't played it. I've heard it's pretty silly.
Bleed is awesome.

@MBraedley They're so not alike that it's not even worth comparing them, tbqh.
About all they have in common is planks strapped to your feet.

I know, just wanted to stir the pot.

FAE
@MBraedley Around 5~, yeah.

11:33 PM
@MBraedley Oh, well in that case, also you're wrong.

FAE
Of varying badness.

@FAE How is it that you've had so many?

@DavidM She got hit on a head a bunch of times, presumably.

@FAE Geez. plz don't get CTE, kthx.

@LessPop_MoreFizz And the word "skiing."

11:33 PM
You normally have to be a football player (American) to get cracked in the head that often.

@DavidM likelyhood of getting a concussion increases after the first

@GnomeSlice Well, duh.
@MBraedley You don't say . . .

@GnomeSlice Why thank you captain obvious. Would you like to inform me as to the temperature of fire next?

11:34 PM
@LessPop_MoreFizz It's hot.

omgz such perspective
so blurry

@DavidM autocorrect is failing me

give them all the design awards

@DavidM You don't need to qualify that as '(American)': Soccer is the #2 sport for concussions.

FAE
@DavidM 2 were accidents in middle school (slipping on ice, gym class), the ones after that were circumstances I don't feel super comfortable discussing here. The last one I had was Jan. 2010, which took me more than a month to recover from. I couldn't even read for the first week.

11:35 PM
@MBraedley Still requires a mechanism of injury is what I was referring to.

@LessPop_MoreFizz Wow so you're saying being kicked in the head by proxy actually does some damage!?

FAE
I read very quickly, so it was too much strain for me to do so.

Crazy!

@FAE Yikes. Remind me not to ask you for advice betting on the horses . . .

@RedRiderX Most of the concussions are actually from collisions with other players.

FAE
11:36 PM
The worst part was not gaming for that long.

@LessPop_MoreFizz Ah really?
Interesting.

> More than 40 per cent of those brain injuries resulted from a blow to the head from another player's elbow, arm or hand, research showed. One paper found that 58 per cent of soccer concussions occurred during a heading duel, often when two players collided mid-air.

Thanks, Steam.

slips on his doctoring hat

11:37 PM
@LessPop_MoreFizz Ah right yeah that would do it

@DavidM Does this mean we can ask you health related questions?

FAE
@DavidM Well, the last 3 weren't from being unlucky. But yeah, that's part of why my memory's kind of shot nowadays.

Most concussion injuries are due to the brain slapping up against the inside of the skull following a rapid deceleration either due to a blow to the head or high speed collision.

I don'd do soccor so I didn't know that was a super common thing

11:38 PM
It's frequently what we call a contra-coup injury, meaning that the brain is injured on the side opposite of the blow.

So. EA pulls a Comcast and says, "We only hear so many complaints because we're have so many customers."

slips off his doctoring hat

Zero remorse for the shit they pulled for the launches of Simcity and BF4.

It's a VERY impressive hat, BTW. It has a VERY large feather.

11:39 PM
@RedRiderX Which isn't to say that heading isn't also a big problem, but a bigger problem is either direct collisions on the field, or goaltenders diving for a ball and getting just straight up kicked in the face.

MMMMMM CHICKEN

@Ullallulloo This is Greenlight level bad execution.

O_o

@LessPop_MoreFizz Nice plague mask!

FAE
11:40 PM
@LessPop_MoreFizz I actually get really nervous about everyday normal stuff like going up/down stairs because I'm afraid I'm going to fall and hit my head again. :(

Ring around the rosy . . . pocket full of posies . . .

@FAE :(

Raise your hand if your parents taught you a nursery rhyme about the black death.

@FAE That is a Bad Thing To Have Happen. Don't Do That.

FAE
@LessPop_MoreFizz Be nervous or fall?
@DavidM I honestly don't remember not knowing this so I'm going to assume they did.

11:41 PM
@FAE Well, mostly the latter, but also the former for your own mental health.

@Frank It's not entirely untrue. And, there's the whole for every crank we hear from, there are 200 satisfied customers.

@DavidM My parents didn't. My first grade teacher did!

@DavidM It's also rather tone deaf to the massive problems and backlash the company is suffering from.

@FAE Most people don't know the origins of it. You just happen to be a well-educated person (despite the odds against it)

FAE
@LessPop_MoreFizz Yeah, I try not, but there's always that underlying current of anxiety. I grip the handrails pretty hard.

11:42 PM
@Frank They're a multi-million dollar organization. They probably feel pretty secure in their tone-deafness.

@FAE Have you tried the oxazepam yet?

They know they can make millions by releasing the same game every year.

@Fluttershy And yet, they whine every year about being voted the worst company of the year.

@Frank Well yeah... They can't have the masses thinking it doesn't bother them. :P They have to put on a good show.

@Frank Well, clearly people aren't boycotting their games.

11:43 PM
I'm thinking it's time to boycott EA completely until they decide not to treat their customers like disposable wallets.

@DavidM isn't Ring Around the Rosy about the Black Death? Or is it something more recent?

@Frank Given EA's propensity for buying up AAA developers... good luck.
4 mins ago, by David M
Ring around the rosy . . . pocket full of posies . . .

@MBraedley Black death. Yes.

FAE
@DavidM Not yet. It's for like, emergency panic attacks, not everyday stuff. She only prescribed me 5 pills for now because we don't know how I'll react.

@Fluttershy I don't think I've bought an EA game for quite some time.

11:45 PM
@Frank Sure, but 1-man boycotts don't really accomplish much. :P
2

@FAE It's a good drug for you, too. It has a stabilizing effect on the brain in many ways. I'm actually surprised that they didn't try to put you on a low dose of clonazepam or something.

@Fluttershy It's where it starts.

@Fluttershy Slowly but steadily.

@Frank IS a one-man boycott!

I could just go, "Boycotting EA won't help anything, so doing it is pointless."

11:46 PM
Also, something to consider: For every 1 person boycotting, there will be 5+ parents buying Madden for their child.

FAE
@DavidM She wants to encourage non-medicated coping mechanisms as much as possible for this because of the whole addictive quality of that class of drugs, which I'm fine with, as I'm kind of phobic of physical addiction. I'm usually able to handle the panic attacks okay with the plans I have in place, but lately they've been worse, so we're trying this out.

In other news, I had my first panic management class yesterday!
I have homework to do!

@MBraedley No.

FAE
I'm pretty happy with my care over here, in general. I have a good therapist and psychiatrist, my insurance covers all of it, and it just really feels like they care about you getting better here.
@Frank Yay!

@Frank remember the first thing when doing HW... DON'T PANIC!

11:50 PM
@FAE Seems reasonable.

The first to do when panicking: don't panic.

FAE
@Frank I've volunteered for a medical study for a self-esteem group therapy thing (it's comparing self-esteem vs. mindfulness groups and the effectiveness thereof) that's going to start in March. I'm nervous, as I haven't done group therapy in over 10 years.

@FAE I've actually been working through it solo, and I'm making some really good progress. The classes are to help reinforce what I've already learned and help if I ever go off the rails again.

@LessPop_MoreFizz Oh, that map is super cool.
Literally, in most cases.

11:51 PM
@Frank Teaching other people to manage their panic or your own?

@DavidM My own.

@FAE Sounds like cognitive behavioral therapy. It's very effective compared to most forms of psychotherapy!

Well, I know what shirt to get @OrigamiRobot.

@Frank I wish you the best of luck with that!

I've had a couple panic attacks in the last couple of weeks, and I've managed to ride them out very well.
To the point that I realized I shouldn't be fearing panic attacks at all.

11:52 PM
@Frank Good! Progress is good!

@Yuki Be sure to check out the gallery too.

FAE
@DavidM Yeah, I'm just nervous because it's a group thing and also in my non-native language, and it's harder for me to properly explain my emotions and thought processes in Dutch than in English.

@FAE That sounds reasonable. But, if you find that it isn't working for you, consider finding an English speaking group. I have to imagine that there are enough English speakers in the Netherlands that this is possible.
@FAE Plus, your abilities will grow with time.

FAE
@DavidM Well, part of the self-esteem issues I struggle with is my level of Dutch proficiency, so it's kind of a good hurdle for me to try to get over anyway. I'm just, yeah, nervous.

At first, phrase them out in English. And, then try to translate. As you become more familiar with the vocabulary set, it will flow more easily from you.
@FAE The best thing about this type of group is that they are going to be supportive of you. Most of the native speakers will have trouble expressing their emotions, too. Everyone has barriers.

11:55 PM
Police post wanted poster on their Facebook page. Wanted guy posts said poster on his status almost right away. Police capture guy within an hour.
Sometimes, I wonder whether critical thinking is something that people actually possess.
2

@Frank Most people who have critical thinking tend to not have to resort to crime.

FAE
@DavidM Yeah, I'm hoping it'll go okay.
@Frank ...wow

@FAE This will be a very different experience from say, school or work. People will not be judging you on the quality of your language skills.

@Yuki The cause and effect here are astounding.

@Yuki Most people who have critical thinking skills tend not to get caught resorting to crime.

11:57 PM
Granted, there was a little bit of social engineering on the police's end, but seriously.
You've gotta be pretty naive to not expect something like that if you're going around reposting your own wanted poster.

@Frank It's probably that he checked in on FourSquare, simultaneously. :)

FAE
@DavidM My rational brain knows that, the irrational brain is like "oh god everyone's looking at me while I'm talking and oh god what if I mess up and oh god what if they think I'm stupid and oh god what if I just embarrass myself and oh god oh god"

@FAE That's the beauty of it. Everyone else is going to feel that way, too.

@DavidM No, the police posed as a beautiful woman on Facebook, and got him to agree to go for a cigarette.

@Frank Well, OK. He's a dumbass.

11:59 PM
WHO DID NOT SEE THE EVENTUAL ARREST COMING?
