@KutuluMike I don't think that would help. The problem with those types of groups is they usually have goal,s like "Go 3 months without a drink". In a way, having a goal based system like that is a form of incremental, so it would just feed your addicton further.

Basically what I'm saying is that if you're addicted to incremental your sickness is never going away.

I don't actually know what I'm talking about, but my understanding is just what Ronan said. You set the default voltage on a particular pin, essentially setting it to 1 or 0 (just in analog)

I've only ever approached this kind of thing from a software perspective of bolting peripherals to a computer, so there's surely some hardware concerns that I'm overlooking.

If you don't do that, you have a potentially inconsistent state when you don't apply any direct voltage. So your ground state could be affected by small environment changes
