When I put a ninth element in, the internal element count exceeds the threshold and the element array is rebuilt. I then get for internal storage a list of 31 elements, of which six have a value.

@Frank It's a common occurrence here, we're trying to reduce it now cause it's easier for us. A lot of our customers have a replicated database so they can work offline (we sell software to festivals and such so doing it online in the middle of nowhere is usually not practical)

There is a column in a table of our database that clearly refers to another table, yet we don't have a foreign key set up for it. That is really pissing my boss off (who is a database guy), because it means there's no referential integrity, so I can put any value I like into that column, but more than that, if I want to run a query with a join in it, it'll take the database way longer to return the result. He also doesn't like artificial keys, but that's a different story.
