oR GET NEW ABILITIES

@Rapitor Not really. Most of the harder enemies had special effects, like multiple shots, or only taking damage from the back, or those heart things
And the harder bosses usually had a greater variety of attacks

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mangala_(game)

The Turkish have their own rules in the game mangala. I am planning on doing a project in it. Are there any game engines that either specifically play it, or universal Mancala players that plays it after supplying the options?

I also tried the main gaming site, arqade. I really need help

@MikhailTal Well, first off, welcome to the Bridge!

Q: Format a (long) bulleted list as a blockquote

ShooShoShaIn an attempt to format some questions (especially Minecraft crash questions) using this guide, I have run into a an issue concerning listing mods. Some users come with games with over 100 mods (like this question). I started to format the list of mods as a bulleted list and boldfacing the versi...

WAIT, THAT'S THE BRIG

4:05 PM
AL? WHAT'S WRONG?

COLD COFFEE IS GROSS

DUH

LET ME BE MORE SPECIFIC, PREVIOUSLY HOT COFFEE THAT HAS GONE COLD IS GROSS

DUH

ICED COFFEE IS GOOD

4:07 PM
I HAVE NO EXPERIENCE TO BRING TO THAT DEBATE

Thanks for the ... warm welcome

Coffe must be served above 60º or below 5º.

@OrigamiRobot I've had Starbucks iced caramel macchiatos for the last several weeks and absolutely love them

please tell me "coffe" is a typo and not a britishism

LET ME BE MORE SPECIFIC, PREVIOUSLY HOT COFFEE THAT HAS GONE COLD IS GROSS

4:09 PM
@OrigamiRobot I don't find that an issue, either.

@MikhailTal Don't mind the caps and random discussion, in @OrigamiRobot's case: he's using autocad and is thus required to type in all caps.

@DragonLord Well, then you're wrong
@Arperum And I'm just weird/don't want to make @OrigamiRobot feel different

@Arperum THE BITTERTRUTH

drinks coffee put in fridge last night

@DragonLord I think he means "lukewarm coffee" is gross

4:10 PM
@DragonLord I don't even drink coffee and that sounds like a bad idea.

I know it sounds weird, but I've been doing this the last several months
The pressure of academics...

It does sound weird, I'll give you that.

(I'm a graduate student, that's why)

Q: Disable city ranged attack notifications for aliens?

ClaudioI'm trying to focus on harmony, but the game tells me every turn that I can perform a ranged attack on the aliens nearby my city. Can I somehow tell the game I don't want to attack aliens?

@MikhailTal ANd I'm afraid we can't help you with your question right now. None of the people now online seem to know of some engine that'll serve your purpose, or they'd have spoken up already.

4:12 PM
I CANNOT RELATE TO THE NEED FOR COFFEE

Nor I. I've had coffee twice, I think, in my life.

@OrigamiRobot I like the taste of it.

My blood is caffeine. Which probably explains my constant irritability.

I definitely don't need it, though.

Anyone else having trouble signing in to meta?

4:13 PM
@Frank ME TOO

Coffee is life.

WELL, I LIKE THE TASTE OF MY SUGAR WITH A BIT OF COFFEE

Coffee is love.

I can quit whenever I want to!

Sugar in coffee is so wrong that its wrongness cannot be enumerated.

4:13 PM
@fredley Well, I just got Starbucks Gold last week

CAFFEINE HAS NO PERCEIVABLE EFFECT ON ME

@DragonLord I drink coffee, not Starbucks

@Unionhawk And I did. For six weeks.
@JasonBerkan This, I will agree with.

@fredley What's wrong with Starbucks coffee?

MAXIMUM SNOB MODE ENGAGED

4:14 PM
SUGAR GOES IN EVERYTHING

@fredley 30 Stars in 12 months—come on, it's not so hard to do

@DragonLord It's weak, bland, and usually poorly prepared.

HOW MY MOUTH IS NOT FULL OF CAVITIES IS BEYOND ME

@DragonLord What's a star?

@fredley Starbucks Rewards gives one Star per transaction made with your Starbucks Card

4:15 PM
If you think Starbucks is weak, @fredley, I shudder to think of how you would find Tim Horton's coffee.

@JasonBerkan Tim Horton's coffee exists only to moisten doughnuts

@JasonBerkan To be fair, Timmy's coffee is more for flavor and constant drinking than something that's supposed to put hair on your chest.

@JasonBerkan I went to Timmy's once

@fredley ...and seriously? Starbucks coffee has a reputation for being very strong

4:16 PM
But all I had was doughnuts
@DragonLord wat

@fredley It's true.

@Unionhawk Not over here it's not

What the hell kind of starbucks do they have over there?

@Unionhawk Weak, starless Starbucks afaik

@DragonLord news to me

4:17 PM
I haven't been to one in years

@Frank Yeah - it's designed to be palatable to as many people as possible, hence the huge lineups.

starbucks is like bottom tier coffee

@Rapitor this
In the UK at least, for chain coffee: Nero >> Costa > Starbucks

Some find it too strong—for those, there's Pike Place Roast

I LIKE DUNKIN DONUTS COFFEE BEST

4:18 PM
@DragonLord You know why and Americano is called an Americano right?
Weak American tongues

@fredley Yes, but I've never had one before
Straight espresso with water—the idea seems rather odd to me

@fredley Good jokes, but not technically correct.

@OrigamiRobot DD is pretty friggin good

Wait, no, I shouldn't say that. The Oatmeal is probably not a reliable source of anything ever.

@Unionhawk Oatmeal most reliable source

4:19 PM
@fredley Nope.

@Unionhawk Yup

@fredley more reliable than wikipedia?

@fredley No

@MattЭллен Wikipedia confirms it, just says it's unverified

4:21 PM
@Rapitor Yeah, they say DD is better
Oddly enough, I haven't been to my local Dunkin' Donuts before.

@fredley No, that'd be The Onion.

@DragonLord I'VE BEEN TO ONE LESS THAN 5 TIMES

@TimStone This is the payment system large pharmacies in the US are backing, too.

I JUST BUY IT IN THE GROCERY STORE

4:22 PM
@TimStone I hope CurrentC crashes and burns

> 1964 Sunday Gleaner (Kingston, Jamaica) 24 May 15/2 Cafe Americano or cafe Latino? The first is what is says. Mild American-style coffee.
from the OED

@Powerlord My fiance used to work for Walgreens and we therefore hate them with a passion, but they definitely made the right call going with Apple Pay over that crap, heh.

Hello Bridge

Well, dammit

You know what's good if you want to stay wired for the next 3 hours?

4:23 PM
@murgatroid99 WHAT IS CURRENTC?

Cuban espresso

Where should I go next?

@OrigamiRobot The payment system that article is about

@TimStone Well, in this case I specifically meant CVS and Rite-Aid were backing CurrentC.

It's QR code based instead of NFC, and is based on debit cards instead of credit cards

4:25 PM
That sounds like a brilliant idea if I've ever heard one -.-

@murgatroid99 Obviously not the most secure payment solution

@murgatroid99 MEANING YOU TIE IT TO A DEBIT CARD INSTEAD OF A CREDIT CARD?

Free Weird Worlds steam key from PCGamer and Bundle Stars: pcgamer.com/…

@OrigamiRobot That or it works like a debit card. I'm not exactly sure

@Powerlord I know, I was just saying they made a poor decision and Walgreens made the better one.
@OrigamiRobot To a bank account or merchant credit card

4:26 PM
@Unionhawk It's less secure, and requires the customer to take the time to scan a QR code, then as I understand, have the cashier scan another code that displays on their phone

BOTH OF THOSE SEEM DUMB

That seems really dumb

I CAN USE MY DEBIT CARD FOR ANYTHING THAT REQUIRES A CREDIT CARD

Mainly because scanning things from a phone display has never worked well

WHY LIMIT YOUR USERBASE?

4:27 PM
It's also motivating merchants to block the use of NFC payments, so that people use that instead

There was an old guy in the checkout the other day that was having difficulty completing a simple card transaction, imagine him trying to use CurrentC.

@Unionhawk Scanning things from my Galaxy S5 works great

THE QR THING IS RIDICULOUS

QR codes are 100% not the future

they are the past

4:28 PM
The system isn't designed for users.
The point is purely to give a middle finger to the credit card companies.

@TimStone So why not just use debit cards like the rest of the world?

Well that seems like the most stupid point to be making when at the end of the day the only way to properly do that is to design something for users

@Unionhawk ...then why do so many Starbucks customers here in New York use their smartphone to pay?

(I have no idea what you guys are talking about, to be honest.)

If people find your thing inconvenient, they won't use it.

4:29 PM
The Starbucks app works in essentially the same way.

The nice thing about NFC payments like Google wallet is that, as far as I understand, is that it has a similar user interaction to chip and pin, which is already known to be user friendly

exactly
@DragonLord NEVER. WORKED. WELL.
(it works sometimes with specific types of barcode scanners)

@JasonBerkan The idea is that the CurrentC app automatically applies coupons and crap to give people an incentive not to use credit cards, since you can't just refuse to accept them.

TBH, I'VE NEVER USED NFC FOR ANYTHING

I haven't either, my phone is old

4:31 PM
Neither have I

TAKING MY WALLET OUT IS JUST AS EASY AS TAKING MY PHONE OUT

@OrigamiRobot I haven't either, because nobody seems to accept it

Also that

If I could wave my phone to pay for something, I would so do that.

And by nobody I mean the Safeway down the street from my apartment doesnt

4:31 PM
@Unionhawk QR codes weren't even the past

@fredley They never existed

USUALLY EASIER SINCE I HAVE MY WALLET 99.9% OF THE TIME AND MY PHONE 90% OF THE TIME

Because now with the whole tap to pay deal, you just need to possess my debit card to pay for something. No pin required.
My phone wouldn't be more or less secure than that.

@OrigamiRobot I'm curious if it's mildly more convenient for larger purchases where I'd have to get my ID out for card verification.

@Frank google wallet requires a pin to be entered before you can use it

4:33 PM
@Frank It's easier to hack into your phone than into your debit card

@Brian not really.

@Brian ...and that's why I prefer using an ATM over online banking.

@TimStone That'd be a state by state thing; that's not a thing in Ohio, afaik

@JasonBerkan If I'm using a credit card, I probably want to spend money I don't actually have.

@murgatroid99 What do you mean not really? Very much really. Unless your debit card has its own internet connection.

4:35 PM
@Brian One, phones don't magically become super vulnerable just because they have an internet connection, and two, Wallet requires an extra pin to use. It would probably be easier to just steal the debit card

@TimStone EVEN IF I WRITE "CHECK ID" ON MY CARD, THEY NEVER DO

@Unionhawk I think it's a liability thing from the credit card company, but I'm not sure.

Americans still don't use the chipped credit cards, do they?

@murgatroid99 I said hack, not steal. And no one is claiming that having a connection makes them super vulnerable.

@Powerlord Very true. But if you want a simple payment process that moves people away from credit cards, debit cards are a good solution.

4:35 PM
Also, I need to applaud to either Oracle or our DBA for messing up the upgrade from Oracle 11.1 to 12 or 11.2 or whatever we're moving to.

@Chippies 2015!
We're super progressive like that.

@Brian You basically just...did?
I'm confused

@TimStone that's something that's been in use all around the world for many many years now, go America, wooo!

@Brian The kind of privilege escalation vulnerability that would be required to get into someone's wallet account would be quickly fixed, and very high priority.

@Brian Google Wallet is much more secure than plastic, imo.
there's literally no security in plastic

4:37 PM
@Rapitor your phone is plastic

@Chippies kevlar*

@Chippies There's probably a lot of silicon and lithium

@Chippies You're plastic
...wait

HE WAS MAKING A CLEVER JOKE LEAVE HIM ALONE

@Chippies MINE IS MADE OF SCULPTED MASHED POTATOES

4:37 PM
@TimStone shit, how'd you know?

@OrigamiRobot Bastards

@OrigamiRobot do you ever use it as a quick snack?

I DON'T EVEN UNDERSTAND THE POINT OF SIGNING THE BACK OF MY CARD

@OrigamiRobot there isn't one

I'VE NEVER BOTHERED LOOKING IT UP

4:38 PM
@Brian If someone has your card number, expiration date, and CVC, they can spend money as you. They would not be able to get similar information to access your Google Wallet account.

@OrigamiRobot you don't have to sign it, a lot of people don't

mainly if its you do a super big purchase... like a car or something

I'm back, wifi disconnected me

@OrigamiRobot Mine isn't signed, and I've been using it for months or more

@Rapitor TELL THAT TO THE DEALERSHIP I BOUGHT MY CAR FROM

4:39 PM
@OrigamiRobot I've always assumed it was for the ID verification, but I guess I've never really checked

i STILL HAVEN'T SIGNED MINE

(not that anyone would really risk a lost sale over that)

Basically, it's a CYA for credit card companies, it seems
makes sense

@Unionhawk I only said that something with an internet connection is more vulnerable to hacking than something without an internet connection.

@Brian But there are other things to consider, like I just mentioned

4:40 PM
Not "super vulnerable"

@Brian CASH IN MY WALLET IS MORE VULNERABLE THAN MY CARD

@murgatroid99 Hold on, I haven't caught up with chat yet from my disconnect

I will give you "technically, if you limit yourself to hacking and discount that someone can just take your wallet yes"

@Brian If someone has root access to your phone, they still can't spend Google Wallet money as you

@OrigamiRobot To stealing, not to hacking.

4:41 PM
So, I'm really enjoying Fantasy Life.

@Brian YOU CAN HACK ROBOT CASH

Gathering is actually more fun than "mash A, get materials".

lol

@Yuuki i'd rather you post food

4:42 PM
@Unionhawk The news lately would suggest that hacking POS systems isn't nearly as difficult as it should be, so in that sense it might still have a leg up. :P

@Unionhawk My favorite part is the scanners

@ORIGAMIROBOT'S WALLET. . .HACKED

@OrigamiRobot There is none.

Who's been playing this zoo incremental while I've been at lunch?
I just bought my first snakes but I have to imagine someone active is significantly further.

@StrixVaria "Not I!" said @Uni

4:43 PM
@StrixVaria i had it going while ive been eating

@StrixVaria I'M ABOUT TO GET TAPIRS

just got first handful of turtles

@OrigamiRobot Oh damn.

@StrixVaria I just unlocked velociraptors.

I'm waiting for sloths to show up on the list
my money is on soon

4:44 PM
@murgatroid99 I love Google Wallet, but if someone gets into your Google account without you knowing, and you have Google Wallet set up, they can very easily spend money as you.

@JasonBerkan Well, I just unlocked the T-Rex. Now it's going to roam the island and eat everything.

@Brian One: you can set up two factor authentication. Two: they'd still need your Google Wallet pin.

@Powerlord After the T-Rex, you unlock Unicron, destroyer of worlds. I think the game ends at that point.

And honestly, if you gave someone your username, password, 2 factor access, and Wallet pin, you're going to get robbed

I've just hit the excessive beaver requirement

4:46 PM
@Brian If someone gets into my Google account, that's the end of my online identity. Which is why that account is locked down as hard as I can make it.

what's this zoo incremental everyone's talking about?
is it good?

no

It's one of the best ones I've linked recently, IMO.

4:46 PM
Speaking of 2-factor... has anyone else been to those sites where the second "factor" is a security question?

@murgatroid99 Who actually sets up two factor authentication? It's such a pain. Also, you can pay without a Google Wallet pin, I use it all the time and don't think I even have one.

@StrixVaria damn, that looks like a website from early 2000s

I'm beginning to think some sites confuse 2x1-factor with 2-factor.

@Brian Anyone who actually cares about security

@StrixVaria You've linked some pretty bad ones recently

4:46 PM
@Brian raises hand

30 TAPIR GET

@JasonBerkan Mine too

@Unionhawk Yeah, that's true.
Junction Gate has promise but it's unfinished.

@StrixVaria YES

@StrixVaria too complicated

4:47 PM
@Brian So that problem isn't unique to Google wallet. That would also compromise every other account.

THIS ONE IS GETTING BORING NOW

I don't remember what the other factors are, but two of them are something you know and something you have.

@Powerlord Last one is biometrics, like that iOS 6 thing
"Something you are"

@OrigamiRobot Made it better

what the fuck, I bought 4 meerkats and one died within the first 20 seconds of the game

4:48 PM
@murgatroid99 Yep. That's why you need to keep your Google account secure. Especially if you use gmail. And if you're not using gmail, we need to welcome you to the 21st century.

But it's hard to make biometric systems that can't be fooled, and the other two are usually good enough

@Batophobia That's great

@murgatroid99 I was about to type that after you mentioned biometrics, but my browser helpfully locked up for 10 seconds. Thanks Firefox!

@Chippies You fail at zookeeping

@Brian My point is that you're saying that Google Wallet is vulnerable to Google account access, but so is your bank account.

4:49 PM
@fredley I'm too lazy to make it into a Monkey script, but I made a pastebin

It's not a vulnerability that's particular to Wallet

@murgatroid99 No, I'm saying that ALL OF MY THINGS are vulnerable to MY Google account access
Even this chat, I sign into SE using my Google account

@Brian Then why did you characterize that fact as a deficiency of Google Wallet?

@murgatroid99 I didn't

6 mins ago, by Brian
@murgatroid99 I love Google Wallet, but if someone gets into your Google account without you knowing, and you have Google Wallet set up, they can very easily spend money as you.

4:51 PM
@murgatroid99 Is there anything false there?

1 min ago, by murgatroid99
@Brian Then why did you characterize that fact as a deficiency of Google Wallet?

@Brian That's also true of any other payment method you have. It's not particular to Wallet, but your commentary implies that it is

@OrigamiRobot I never said it's a deficiency of Google Wallet

I'm not sure what anyone's arguing here so I'm just going to disagree with @Frank and assume I'm safe.

@Brian not really, with extra verification, and you get notified+emailed of every single GW purchase made, it's easy to catch and fix fraudulant activity.

4:52 PM
...

19 mins ago, by Brian
@Frank It's easier to hack into your phone than into your debit card

I REGRET EVER GETTING INVOLVED

and here comes the boredom of incremental zoo.

@Unionhawk I'm not actually arguing anything, so disagreeing with me means you're arguing everything.

4:52 PM
and with that
cheeeeeetz
IZ.Zoo.Money = infinite
wheee

@Rapitor If someone has access to your gmail, they can also set up a filter to trash those email verifications upon receipt.

@Frank I am okay with this.

@Rapitor This is how I got past the first 10 seconds, IZ got boring really fast

I should stop giving people ideas XD

@Brian The statement I just linked is false because any method that allows someone to access your Wallet account also gives them access to the bank account that manages your debit card

4:54 PM
@Brian my GW goes to multiple emails, and my phone.

@murgatroid99 How so?

if my phone is stolen i can activate everything from pretty much any computer
deactivate*

@Brian We just went over this. If someone has access to your Google account, a necessary step to accessing your Wallet account, they also have access to your other accounts, including your bank account

Wow, 101 unique views on that pastebin already?

@Arperum I managed to get meerkats at 100% birthrate when i hit some 500k+

4:55 PM
@Rapitor There's a root email it goes to, if it skips the inbox there and gets deleted, you'd never see it. Your phone doesn't even matter in this, it's just a device.

@Rapitor ...did you cheat like a cheating cheater?

@Sconibulus you bet

@Batophobia This just made the game so much better.

3 mins ago, by Rapitor
IZ.Zoo.Money = infinite

@Sconibulus cheating is the best way to play!

4:56 PM
...what's the point of playing a game if you're just going to cheat?

FUN FACT: THE INSTANT SCROLLING BECOMES NECESSARY, MY INTEREST IN AN INCREMENTAL PLUMMETS

I mean, other than in games where cheating is expressly encouraged (or even required)

@Powerlord What's the point of playing if you're just going to wait

@Batophobia A better question is why you're playing a game that requires you to wait in the first place.

Tapirs are really hard to grow organically

4:57 PM
@murgatroid99 That's only true if your email account is associated with your bank account, AND your bank has lower account verification requirements than any bank I've ever heard of.

So apparently my reskin has a few flaws: "You discovered Diglett! 900 turtles are needed to buy crocodiles"

@Brian Password resets are a thing.

There are way more animals in this game than I expected

@fredley Yes, 35 in fact

@murgatroid99 I had to do one for my credit card a few weeks ago. They made me call in, verify my name, address, email address, mother's maiden name, and social security number.

4:59 PM
@Batophobia 36
Meercats = 0

In addition to the account number

@fredley Then I missed a pokemon

hm, there is a lot of animals

oh well

@Brian If someone had access to my email, they could probably figure out most of that, and they'd have access to my google voice number.
