@LessPop_MoreFizz It's kind of hard for me to parse things aurally. My retention rate is much lower than when I read stuff. I think it's related to how I developed when I was younger because I was so dependent on my glasses. When I was a kid, I couldn't really tell that someone was talking to me or understand them as well if I didn't have my glasses on, as weird as that may sound.

(FWIW, I used to think I had the same problem until I realized that it was usually because when I was just listening to things, I tended to end up getting distracted and trying to read something else at the same time, which drastically lowers said retention rate. Once I started listening to talk radio/podcasts only in the car while driving (and this, not taking in words from another source simultaneously), my ability to actually remember what I listened to skyrocketed.)

I'm also one of those people that turns on subtitles/closed captioning all the time (much to my family's annoyance growing up). I'm just very visually oriented.

@StrixVaria I feel like I need to start listening to them. Amanda Palmer is here in the NL for a solo show in a week but I've never really checked out her work. She seems like an interesting person though.

I know very little about her except when she writes on her blog she doesn't use proper capitalization at all and it kind of irrationally annoys me. I bought the photo book she did, Who Killed Amanda Palmer?, which apparently went along with her album, because Neil Gaiman wrote pieces to go along with the photos and I just liked the concept of posing dead from various causes and being photographed.
