I've noticed a lot of EO skills are one-point wonders. You get a big benefit for the first point and then really tiny bonuses for subsequent points. So I favor a wide range of skills over specializing early on

For my medic it's because I just haven't had a need to. My single-target heals heal enough that I don't need to make them any stronger right now. I also don't need a group heal since the Bard's Echoing Chorus song is enough to fully heal most of my group. I don't think it's going to hold up later on, but it's fine for now.

Unfortunately the game itself doesn't give you any indication of how much benefit you are really getting. A lot of skills have diminishing returns for each point. Others get big jumps when maxxed out. And pretty much no way to know unless you get lucky and the Japanese wiki has some numbers on it

@Sterno It usually tends to be "Miniscule until every 5th point which is a bigger jump". With increased TP costs also coming around, the best is often to stick at what's necessary so in @Wipqozn's healing case staying without more points seems perfectly good.

@GraceNote Yeah. The story alchemist starts out with 5 points in whatever the single-target fire skill is called. Which makes it cost 10 TP versus 5 for ice and volt, and it only does a small amount more damage. It makes me sad
