@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Hey Paulster, so I took my car in again and they were able to catch the electric issue. They said something with the ignition switch was causing constant power to start up (going into ACC Mode). So I got that replaced and had them setup a remote unlock too w/ fob as I hadn't had one in there before. Anyways, a few days later now and my batter was almost dead again this morning, but I am noticing something that I think is odd.
When I lock my door with the key fob, my dashboard shows the passlock light and keeps blinking nonstop, so I think that may be what is causing my battery to drain. Do you think maybe they programmed or installed something wrong? Also, my keys will set off my car alarm if I used the fob to lock it, and it will only stop if I use the fob to hit unlock. :S

@Austin - In most vehicles, there will be some sort of visual indicator showing there is a security system active. I doubt this is your power drain. If you search on the main site, you should be able to find a couple of threads which talk about finding a power drain in your electrical system. It takes a little work, but it isn't too difficult to figure out.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Gotcha, this has never occurred before though on my car. If I manually lock the doors instead of using the FOB it doesn't show the passlock light either. Also, with my previous issues, usually only the dashboard P or Park Light was on when my car was going into acc mode over night and that little light was always enough to drain my battery.
Do you have tests/ideas I can try out before the mechanics call back?

@Austin - I don't have time to find it right now, but there are some questions on the site about how to detect a drain and how to find it.

@Zaid So bummed about that. Maybe Amazon will pick him up

@Zshoulders he just posted another video today. Apparently Mike's family is receiving death threats

I haven't seen this one yet. from what I heard, he left because velocity wanted to cut the part where he actually worked on cars. "too hard too shoot," apparently

3:17 PM
Yeah, that's pretty much what he said

3:30 PM
No clue why someone would be throwing threats at Mike ... that's just plain asinine. I hope they find whoever is doing it and string them up. People need to know there's consequences for doing stupid things.

The weather in England is the same as the weather was in Scotland when I was there. Ergo, England and Scotland have the same weather all the time.

5:13 PM
Its not like its Mike's fault, nor is it really a big enough deal to start killing people over. Probably. Although, in true british car show tradition, he should have quit in a show of solidarity.
I'm sure somebody else would have picked them up

@Zshoulders - It wasn't his part of the job they were F-ing with. In Edd's view, they were really messing with the way he'd been doing business. I guess I think too "American" here ... I just wonder how long the show is going to last now that Edd won't be there and the mechanical component of the show has changed. It was the mechanical component of the show which interested me. I'm not sure the new guy will have the charisma to pull off what Edd had been doing all these years.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 yea, I viewed Mike more as the guy who forced the situation. Edd probably wouldn't have bought half the cars that Mike did because he would have seen how much work needed to be done and walked away. That interaction really forced Edd's hand to do a lot of really cool fixes
I saw him fixing up some old Lotus the other day that didn't have plastic clippy connectors. he had to undo all of the wiring "by hand," if you will. Really made me realize how great the plastic clippy is.

5:29 PM
@Zshoulders - Bingo. Yah, Edd is an awesome mechanic. Another guy I was sorry to see leave TV was Aaron Kaufman of Fast-n-Loud fame. He is an absolute mechanical master.

Ohhhhh no Fast N Loud is the dodge guy. can't say I ever saw more than like 2 episodes of that, not really sure who aaron kaufman is

@Zshoulders - No, Fast N Loud isn't the Dodge guy. That's some other show which the guy is completely annoying to me. Fast N Loud is the Grease Monkey Garage based out of Texas. Check this link about what's going on with Aaron Kaufman. He's absolutely a master mechanic. He makes wrenching look easy.

Richard Rawlings is 100% the dodge guy. Not exclusively, but he's the Mike Rowe of dodge
he's even in that dodge commerical where they are racing the grand caravans with christmas trees on top

Maybe we're thinking of two different things ... the GMG doesn't specialize in Dodges. Rawlings may have a sponsorship with Dodge, I don't know, but the FNL wasn't about Dodges.
There's another car show on Discovery (I think) where dude is exclusively Dodges.

Right, sorry, bit of a misscommunication. They do all kinds of cars.
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 really? "Another lug nut got stuck today. don't worry, its supposed to do that"

5:45 PM
The show I'm thinking of is called Graveyard Carz.

I watched some diesel brothers the other day, what a great and horrible show. I love how goofball-y they are, but they are DEFINITLY going to kill somebody one of these days. Safety in the workplace is hardly their prime concern

Really, for me it's how they wrench on things and the outcome of doing as much ... not about the drama. They could leave the rest of it on the cutting room floor, for all I cared.
They have to sell the drama or it wouldn't be a show, though. Most people wouldn't watch it if not for the drama which goes along with it.
Too much fun for a Monday.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 You'd think you could get away with showing the actual wrench part on velocity. wheeler deelers, all girls garage, even the various custom fab shops get decent amounts of "person does work" on camera
although, maybe that isn't true, we just saw what happened with the first example XD

Most of the car shows (1/2 hour, non-fab shop shows like All Girls Garage) have a pretty good mix of "person does work" on camera. The thing I don't like about them is product promotion. It makes you think they are actively supporting a brand, when in actuality they are getting paid to endorse them on the show.
I mean, the shows have to stay solvent, that's for sure. There's always the 5-min segment where they are selling the products.

yea I usually take that as an extended commerical break and go do some dishes or something

5:56 PM
For some stupid reason I do like Stacey David's Gearz (or whatever it's called). He does some great fabrication work and has made some great cars. It's not a typical fab-show (like FNL or Graveyard Carz) ... I guess those are actually "Reality Programming", eh? Anyway, I've gotten some great ideas from Stacey over the years. I don't watch it religiously, but if I find it's on, I'll take a gander. He's a little nuts sometimes, though.
He converted a long bed C10 to a short bed. How he notched the frame and where he did it at was inspired. Very kewl build.

I've never seen that one before

His laugh is obnoxious, to say the least.
It does appear he knows what he's talking about on the show. He's not quite an Aaron Kaufman, but he's got some tricks up his sleeve.
Bio-break, then I need to get ready to head home.
Have a great day, Peeps!

BTW, anyone interested could check out this area51 proposal:

8:46 PM
@anonymous2 - Good luck with your proposal. The only real issue I see with it is, you are going to get a ton of opinion with it ... the main reason driving technique questions are off-topic here, I'd suspect.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Hmm, could be right.
