SE will be issuing proper armbands, with read lettering SE (MVM&R) in a smaller font, for all those at 2k rep and above. They are to be worn AT ALL TIMES and especially whilst singing the MV&R anthem. Do not worry about memorizing the anthem right now; it will be downloaded directly into your brain during times of cost-effective bandwidth. Blood & Oil 4ever.

2 hours later…
5:39 AM
@SteveRacer vulture capitalism, say what??

6:32 AM
@Zaid - Goodmorning.

@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Hello sir

I'm awake and shouldn't be. Hopefully I'll be back to sleep in a few. Just thought I'd drop in and say hello.

You're up early

Everything going well? Assuming you're at work?

About to leave home

6:34 AM
Ah. Well, have safe travels to work and an enjoyable day.
It's good to touch base with you.

Thanks

Be well my friend. :o)

3 hours later…
9:52 AM
Evidently 1500 hp isn't enough :D
Must be so embarrassing for the owner and Bugatti

2 hours later…
11:59 AM
@Zaid - I love that it has side view cameras instead of mirrors. Then the rearview camera is mounted in the T support for the spoiler ... The car just looks absolutely wicked!
As far as loading, it looks like a very timid driver to me.

Not really. They gave it a bootful of throttle

Must be yet to come up, lol.
They should have got the rear tires on the ramp, then flattened it out, then rolled the car forward some more ... if that was a possibility.

It does make me wonder what could cause it to struggle so much

Okay, just got it on the transport ... I didn't hear the driver give it much in the way of "go" to get it up there. Still seemed very timid on the clutch to me.
Learn how to slip the clutch, my man!
:o)

Was it a case of pressure plate disengaging? Too pronounced a ridge to overcome for those tires? Who knows

12:03 PM
You're right ... lots of factors.

But it must have embarrassed Bugatti

Probably afraid to get some turbo rolling and jet the car through the cab of the truck.

Yes

1 hour later…
1:15 PM
@SteveRacer - Hey ... Mr. Newbie ... who let you in on the MVM&R.SE game plan? I thought that was a tight held secret ... now we are just going to have to go ahead and change it all ... party pooper. Was supposed to be a surprise for EVERYONE and you went and ruined it. Geesh.

2 hours later…
3:08 PM
Almost ready to pull the EG33 motor out of the SVX ... this is the easy part ... I hope we haven't bitten off more than we can chew! :o)
For those who might care, we are pulling this EG33 to put into my son's Impreza. This engine is supposed to be the same basic engine as the EJ22 with two more cylinders.
The EG33 is a wee bit longer than the EJ22. We have to push the radiator forward a bit, so some rework will need to be done there. We also need to marry the EG33 ECU/harness into the Impreza's equipment so we can have both engine control and everything else control. Should be interesting running two different computers on the same car. I think ultimately he'd like to get a Haltech or something else to run everything. I've seen some options.
Since Dad is dropping the money into it for right now, we are doing it as cheap as possible.

3 hours later…
6:19 PM
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 Dad = you?

Yes
I bought the SVX, so that's my extent of the $$ for right now.
I don't plan on dropping any more into it if I can help it.
I just realized how crappy this image is:
@Zaid - (incase you are waiting for a reply)
I still have to pull the wiring harness out ... that's going to be a HUGE amount of work, from what I understand. All of the dash needs to come out to get to it, then you only end up using about 20% of it, but you cannot separate it out until you get the entire thing out of the car.

6:40 PM
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 It's the least enjoyable part of any engine swap

you know that's true, lol.

Btw, what does sticking with Subie buy you in terms of benefits/shortcuts?

The EG33 is basically the same engine which is coming out of his Impreza, but with two more cylinders.

And are you planning to swap out the tranny as well?

It bolts right up.
Nope
Keeping the manual in the Imp

6:41 PM
Imp, lol

<> Impala, lol

You wish

It's an Impala impersonator

Anyway, it'll give him another 100 wheel hp.

6:43 PM
But will it blend?

Since he blew the EJ22 engine which is in it now (don't know exactly what happened to it, but think the bearings are shot).
Blend?
Margaritas?
:o)
Where's @DucatiKiller when you need some good blending advice?

2 hours later…
8:24 PM
@Pᴀᴜʟsᴛᴇʀ2 I can recommend either a mojito or a "aperol spritz"

:)

9:17 PM
Ugh, Scotty Kilmer in full rant mode.
I wonder how much money he made off this stunt

Interesting video
I can't stand this voice, just ranting around. If he hates cost intensive cars he should not buy a luxury car

@Myself he is complaining about how must it costs to replace part X. What he fails to mention is that just because a code pops up doesn't mean that you need to throw a part at the car

9:32 PM
Yeah, but our two sentences do not exclude each others

Oh, I wasn't implying that they were. I was merely adding more information

Ok, sorry. I am quite tired atm
Was hiking in the mountains

The baby keeping you busy?

Neh, my son (2) sleeps well
And the other is still in production :)

Can't say the same about my princesses :(

9:36 PM
Keeping you busy? How old are they?

One of them needs only 8 hours of sleep
The oldest is 5

I understand. Congratulations btw.

Thanks, and same to you :)

Sorry to ask, what people do at your place for leisure time?

I think they're hardest to deal with at the age of 2
Visit friends and family. Shopping. Off-roading

9:40 PM
Great

That's pretty much what the weather here allows

I saw one of your photos, 40° at night

Ah yes, the Lexus

Somebody like me could not bear this weather

Possibly. But there are many Europeans who acclimatise quite easily

9:42 PM
So practically at this time of the year everyone is either inside or in a car :)

I think the promise of tax-free money accelerates the acclimatisation process :)

Lol, i think the same

Oh yes, for sure

It is funny, here it is quite the opposite: People come here, despite the tax, for the weather
and the outdoors

Well, the Alps are quite beautiful
Well worth visiting

9:47 PM
Sure

(I assume you're in the neighbourhood)

Not the hotel, just the view

That is epic scenery

Some views are quite nice here

Here there is just desert. Vast expanses of harsh terrain that stretch was what feels like eternity

9:50 PM
But it has also some impressive upsides

So who did you support in the 2006 World Cup final?
:)

very good point
People here are quite divided over it
I saw close friends getting very angry about it
:)

Sorry, i meant semifinal

I know, I know :)
I was supporting germany
But was not totally angry about the outcome

I thought the German team deserved to win that edition of the World Cup. They played with purpose and guile
I felt sorry for Ballack
He came so close to winning trophies on so many occasions

9:54 PM
Yeah
But the result is what it is. Well, they won later

This year's Euro was a joke

People where quite anxious this year

I was kind of wishing for an Iceland fairytale

Normally italy vs. germany was (I am right?) always bad for germany

Yes

9:56 PM
True, iceland was everyone's favoourite

Usually the Italians come up with a way to overcome the German juggernaut

*favourite
It is quite interesting, when there is some kind of italy-germany play all the streets are empty here
:)

Doesn't surprise me at all :)
Tell me one thing

?

How do you distinguish between engine and alternator in German?
As far as I can tell the same word is used
Generator

9:58 PM
engine: motor
alternator: generator
or lichtmaschine
"lichtmaschine" is the slangword for alternator

Licht is light?

yeah

Light as in electricity

"generator" the technical right term

Cool

9:59 PM
yes. light-machine

I quite enjoy decomposing languages

the early alternators where mostly used for sparks and lights

Yup

great hobby, also reveling from time to time
using italian you often find some kind who are quite similar in other roman languages (like english)
*some words

There are 6 Latin languages
You know at least three of them
The others are French, Spanish and Romanian
(Or at least that's what they taught me in school)

10:03 PM
I am not sure about the 3 languages
I know english, german and italian

Yes, those are the three

german is not a roman language
also for english

Sure?

if(!) I remember correctly
there is the german originating language famaily and the roman on
*one

Whatever the case may be, I like exploring the similarities between languages

10:05 PM
That is a great hobby, yeah
*dammit
Sorry, I am doing to many mistakes atm

You can edit btw
You got the hang of it :)

Thank you, I am such a newbie :)

We all were once upon a time

You often find some familiar italian words in english

Yes, like crescendo and a priori

10:09 PM
What schools did you visit?

You mean where did I study?

Yes

I never traveled abroad to study, but my exposure is quite international
It was a British school
And an American university
So I got to study French as a language and American politics as a (mandatory) subject

Congratulations
I left university because I received an interesting job offer and the student life was not what I expected
At the moment I am doing a self paced study at a german university

I see
Is it free to study at university in Germany?

10:15 PM
While working and living with my family

I hear conflicting things

You have to pay some fees, but they are quite negligible
After 8 hours of thinking it is often difficult to get attention for both wife, kid and study

How do you say Germany in Italian? The French say Allemagne

"germania" germany
"tedeschi" the germans

@Myself I can imagine
Tedescho = singular German male?

10:18 PM
yes
"tedesco"

Got it
(I was basing it off of ragazzo/ragazzi

"che", "chi": h-si, "ca", "cu", "co": h-no
that is some rule for the "h"

Nice

when you say it in italian it rhimes, so it is easier to remember

Thanks for that

10:22 PM
np
I assume the university at your place is free of charge?

Not at all
It is pretty expensive actually

But you will get some kind of support from the state?

Oh, I'm an expat. There is no "state support" per se

Got it
I assumed you where a native quatari
"quatari" was that correct?

Not at all, though I've been here all my life
Qatari

10:26 PM
ty

Sono indiano

interessant
:)

Was that Italian or French?
I think it's the same word

german

Loool

10:28 PM
you see, they are related in some kind :)

They are indeed
It is a small world we live in

I once traveled to Australia, the first girl I met was from a town 50km away from my hometown
:)
So, yeah. It is a small world

Sadly not small enough that time zones are not required. It's time for me to get some sleep

Also for me
Zaid, it was nice and interesting talking to you

You too

10:32 PM
What would be a good formal "Sleep, well" in english?

10:44 PM
Sweet dreams
Or "sleep tight"
