BlueWhite Water Rafting code-golfgraphsgrid This problem is about finding the best path through a bunch of rocks on a 5-column wide river, without crashing your raft. A river looks like this (* reprsents a rock): . . . R . . R . . . R . . . . . . R . . R . . . . . . . . R Each row will contain...

@HelkaHomba that is some poor luck

Can I delete my account on area51?

idk i made sample question for a bad proposal and someone downvoted it so now I can't downvote on A51

wait no
nvm

cheddar is taking over my email ;_;
>You'll be able to commit to another proposal once one of the above sites' beta launches, and you follow through on your commitment to that site. See the FAQ section on commitment for more details.
last itme I checked arts and crafts have launched...

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ I can't find the "downvote this proposal" button. Do you know where it is?

@Geobits check your avatar :P

@Geobits That's a good one! ;)

10:19 PM
Nope, that just leads to my profile :(

are memes on topic on humor?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ You'd think someone committed to humor.se would be able to tell the difference :P

if they are im totally running for mod with my dank goat memes

hide your children folks

@Upgoat The problem with that is the vast majority of them aren't funny >_>

10:20 PM
;_;

Even in a "humor is subjective" way :P

my goat memes are the GOAT

See? Proof right there ^^^

10:21 PM
@Upgoat that's actually seriously bad

;_;

ok, that's good

i hope mods dont nuke the goats out of existence
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ :D :D :D

^ another reason I'm downgoat
XD

wai derek
fun fact: J has regex support.

Watch democracy live! :o

10:32 PM
D: doesn't work on my computer ;_;

I was worried that indecisive voting the other day was the end of it

> 1111111111111111111 === 1111111111111111200
< true
wtf js

dude
floating point

ಠ_ಠ its high level language, it shouldn't have problems with that, the snake doesn't

Stop using JS for arbitrary integer/float arithmetic :P

10:37 PM
> goating point

ಠ_ಠ

that is slow as shit

how do I stop n++ from converting spaces to tabs automatically?

10:40 PM
why u hate tabs?

@Upgoat High level =/= has arbitrary precision arithmetic support :/

@Upgoat I love tabs, but when I'm using 2-space indents, I don't want tabs

@Sp3000 no but high level languages should have arbitrary precision arithmetic suppotrt imo
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ y r u using 2-space indents

@Upgoat J
tabs look ugly with J

ah ok
use neovim is solution

10:42 PM
ಠ_ಠ

neovim text editor is best text editor
it has clicky movement support even so its just like normal text editor
you can even click and drag to select and that good stuff

I like n++. It works.
except for the tabs thing

but vim is best it can do everything n++ can ;_;
wait wat is n++

ಠ_ಠ notepad++ <<<< vim

10:45 PM
yeah. it eats vim on an ice cream cone

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ settings > preferences > tab settings, then you can either set tabs to be replaced with spaces, or set the tab width to 2.

@DrGreenEggsandIronMan pls halp convince @CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ (neo)vi(m) is best text editor

@trichoplax thanks!

@Upgoat Because Python differentiates between integers and floats while JS treats them all as floats which is dumb

10:52 PM
what

> we all float down here...

milesFind the Coefficients of the Characteristic Polynomial Given a square matrix A, determine the coefficients of the characteristic polynomial for A. How to compute tba: show using det(A - x I) Rules This is code-golf so the shortest solution wins. Builtins that compute the eigenvalues are not...

11:17 PM
@Upgoat @CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ emacs is best text editor

@DrGreenEggsandIronMan ... o_O
I'm trying to write a small esoteric language in J.

Then it probably doesn't matter if your text editor isn't Turing Complete... :)

is emacs TC? o_O

I think at least one of vi and emacs is. I don't follow the war rhetoric too closely though. I just use Notepad++...

11:30 PM
:)

vim is turing complete
Don't know about emacs.

hey quartata do you know what the type verb is in J?
or what it's used for

@quartata you know, I've heard that many times before, but I've never heard the proof. Is vim really turing complete? Could you write a brainfuck interpreter in vim?

@DrGreenEggsandIronMan Someone has written a turing machine simulator in vim

emacs is basically a lisp machine
course it's turing complete

11:41 PM
I could dig it up
@RenderSettings Yeah, I figured

HTML+CSS is turing complete yuk yuk yuk

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ ermm

it isn't
techinically

Looks like it just pretty prints the foreign 4!:0

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ what? No it's not.

11:42 PM
it's a push-driven automata
push-powered, whatever
@miles hm. okay

mm, if you have a person hold down the tab button and spacebar (i think?) it is

just remaps it from -2.. to 0.. and cuts the list of names to an index

It doesn't even work for me on tryJ :P

why don't you download J?

11:43 PM
I have it downloaded I'm just lazy

oh
tryj stopped working for me a while ago

@quartata sauce?

I was reading about emscriptem which I think was used to compile the C src for J to Javascript

@DrGreenEggsandIronMan It was on Usenet, so finding it may be slightly difficult
Lemme see here

Although, tbf vimscript and python are both turing complete, and vim can access both, so it kinda has to be TC by extension.

11:47 PM
This didn't use vimscript or anything
I don't think Python existed when this was made
Oh wait, nevermind.
Gee, I keep forgetting how old Python is...
