@quartata >_> but how does work

?

like does it auto-convert integer to float?

JS?
Oh boy down the rabbit hole that is sourcemod

uh oh
what's there

terror

12:14 AM
is there still room

No I have my trusty bot companion to prevent me from going completely insane
Oh boy, already off to a good start.
ent_text isn't working

@quartata is that your server? ._.

yes

oh ok

Kek, the script isn't even getting loaded. No wonder

12:36 AM
@HelkaHomba That was some luck you had. :P

@Dennis Say I have written a wrapper for a language in BATCH. Could you run that wrapper on TIO, or is it not a windows environment?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ It's Linux

so that's a no

I mean, he could use Wine and the Windows version of node
but that's dumb just write it in bash

12:38 AM
kek

I was only asking because I want to emulate flags for J

hahaha
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ i might be able to halp?

no, I don't need bash

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ ;_; but bash it best ba.?.h

I don't need it

12:42 AM
;_; ok

@quartata are you tf2 scout main?

no pocket main

you main pocket?

yes

wat is pocket

12:45 AM
so, you main (soldier|demo|heavy) + medic

pocket = pocket soldier

ok

i.e I play soldier but not like a roamer soldier

@quartata i get it

12:45 AM
pocket = any pocketable class

i just see you as scout a lot

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ In the context of 6v6 that's what pocket means

heyyy I'm good at roamer
@quartata oh, I see

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I'm not very good at Scout, actually.

golfier, 3 bytes (6 shorter): oic
@quartata lol i suck really bad at scout

12:46 AM
@quartata you're not bad tho

@phase hahahaha
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ he rekt my ass a couple times?

That was in 1v1.

well, you're new, and ^

I am good at that. But the thing about Scout is that you have to play much more passive usually

12:47 AM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ i have over 70 hours of tf2

I'm victim to tunnel vision sometimes when I play as Scout

does that still count as new

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ That's nothing

200 hours and I still consider myself new
b4nny has 13,000

12:47 AM
i don't
@quartata hes freaking b4nny
that doesn't conut

I have 480 hours on my new account and around 300 on my hold, for a total about 800 hours

I have a fairly large handful of friends with 2,000+ hours

holy shit that's over a year playing 5 hours per day

@El'endiaStarman From the I-didn't-die perspective, yes :p

I wouldn't say they've exactly made good use of their time....

12:50 AM
if they plan on going pro, it's a good idea

^^
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ better to learn how to convince people to pay you to golf code

:P if I write J professionally, they will be

@HelkaHomba Well, I didn't say whether said luck was good or bad... :P

I'll pay you to write J professionally

i'll get paid to drink water

12:53 AM
Your first task is to golf an algorithm that solves any NPC in P time and I'll let you know later

how much will you pay me?

$-1 per hour?

A good golf is its own reward

but its not all the reward needed

12:58 AM
i am not his agent i need half the pay

Hmm, I've kinda been ignoring The Peoples Python. If someone else wants to run with it they are welcome to.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ @EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ @DrGreenEggsandIronMan @Quill Prepping for Cheddar v0.3 release which brings the Math functions! You can install this using the instructions described here, the branch is release-0.3.0. Once you have this version you'll be able to update directly from the command line using cheddar --update

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ The Clay institute would pay you $1000000 I think

@HelkaHomba o_O
@Upgoat and you're sure it works for windows

oh no it doesn't
oh no I forgot to fix bug
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ @EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ @DrGreenEggsandIronMan @Quill don't update yet >_> nvm

1:07 AM
@Upgoat and you're sure it works for windows

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ cheddar works cheddar --update does not

oh
tell me when it does

ok

Really interesting stuff in happening now in DC - democrats are having a sit-in on gun laws in the house of representatives - cbsnews.com/live - cnn.com/2016/06/22/politics/john-lewis-sit-in-gun-violence
3
They've even been using livestreaming apps to record what's happening since the house camera and microphones were shut down by Paul Ryan
(he has authority to do that, it's not an unprecedented move or anything, it's just interesting to see a new activist use of social media)

the motherboard article on it was just the author having an aneurysm over it, which was hilarious

1:17 AM
@HelkaHomba hahaha
@RenderSettings more hahaha
@HelkaHomba thank you for being the TNB news feed

Oops, meant to link the cspan livestream instead of the cnn article - c-span.org/video/?411624-1/…
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Looks like the GOP will try to regain the floor in the next half hour so it might get more interesting

Do we have a catalog question for factorial?

Yes, we have a catalog challenge for factorial.
I refuse to acknowledge "catalog" challenges as any different.
@HelkaHomba I'd be interested in doing that. What's the most appropriate way? Take over with my own fork? Submit pull requests?

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ tf2 update 4 hours ago?
posted by a valve dev on reddit

1:33 AM
@DrGreenEggsandIronMan Maybe just clone and work on it yourself. I may still want to make my own version. (But if you get something good going you could merge it back in if you want.)

@Lynn very impressive

@HelkaHomba I went to check it out, and it looks like it’s no longer a shaky vertical video?
Oh my god, this user-created clip of Peters asking everyone else to also install Periscope.
It’s… it’s the future.

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ oh, really?

@Lynn Now I believe it's Facebook Live on someones laptop

@RenderSettings gumby :D

@HelkaHomba huh? that wasn't trying to be a gumby reference, sadly. i've never actually seen gumby before, just know who he is :(

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ yeah
somewhat mior though
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ night!
@Mego ._.

2:18 AM
@Lynn how does ¦ work in gs2?

3:12 AM
Hey guys, a friend of mine just started learning Python. Any tips for him?

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ In the Jelly code page, that’s 0x05, which, to gs2, is a string terminator.
If it doesn’t find a matching 0x04 before it, it assumes the start of the program is the start of the string
Essentially, where Pyth/Jelly/Actually/… have automatically-closing string literals, gs2 has automatically-opening ones.

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ Do Project Euler. It's how I learned. :P

I personally think that makes way more sense for postfix. How often will Actually/05AB1E programs have strings at the end?

3:30 AM
best introductory python book ever ^

@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ don't use python and use node/javascript :P

@Upgoat Says the guy grappling with dependency hell. :P

And insufficient integer precision.

;_;

3:33 AM
I think that being a goat and all, @Upgoat is just afraid of getting eating if he uses a Python

[WARNING VERY GRAPHIC]
Wow, thanks JavaScript for the detailed error message:

That's just an exit code. Look at the manpage for the command that make was running

oh shit, I put my water bottle next to my computer, and now just burnt my tongue.
._.

ik but JS just errored with no message which is dumb...
@Maltysen ._.

@Maltysen Well jeez, you have a hot computer.

@Quill question what does yellow highlighted code mean in the coverage reports
@Quill ?

@Upgoat hover over it
(It means branch not hit)

> branch not covered
what is a "branch"

Say if it was a ternary and the false condition was yellow
Then the ternary condition would never hit false (from the test cases)
Oh btw your string coverage is red

ah ok
ik
but coverage is soo much better :^) from:

Good to see you like unit tests :)

4:24 AM
there's a ton of yellow here. It's definetly getting run though

Highlight over those black boxes

@Quill they've saved me from merging broken commits to master way too many times, so I thought I should make them as good as possibly

4:51 AM
Anybody here?
Anybody not here?

I'm not here?

neither am I

Oh. How aren't you guys?

not too bad

My controller might be crashing and burning for my maze challenge.
It was working with the thing I built, but panicking on empty input for every python entry.
Have to figure out if it is me or the python...

5:03 AM
@HelkaHomba I'm totally not here.

>_> I find way too many bugs making tests which is odd

@Upgoat reminds me of the wild haggis, an animal whose left and right legs have different lengths, so it can run around steep hills; there are 2 subspecies: clockwise and counterclockwise

Can someone do me a favor and try to run the controller against one of the entries to this challenge?

@Liam ಠ_ಠ for cheddar pun :P

What cheddar pun lol....

@AndersKaseorg I'm not sure what exactly is happening, but it seems that the controller is not playing nice with your entries. It could be an issue with the fifo pipes, but I'm not sure.
while True:
print('e')

appears to be interacting just fine with the controller, so I'm not sure exactly what the issue is.

@Quill coverage up to 81%!!!

5:50 AM
@CᴏɴᴏʀO'Bʀɪᴇɴ @EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ @DrGreenEggsandIronMan @Quill sorry for the third ping >_>. Cheddar v0.3.0 is finished, and you can test / install it by running: git clone -b release-0.3.0 http://github.com/cheddar-lang/Cheddar.git && cd Cheddar && npm install && sudo make install. You'll need make so if you're on windows make sure you have it.

6:36 AM
@Dennis so is my program working correctly?

Yes, it is. All images meet the quality requirements and my script computed the same score your program did.

great :)

@Sp3000 Unfortunately, [1 0;0 0] is a problem three of my answers seem to have in common.
Well, rolled back Jelly and deleted MATL and Julia. I'll have to revisit the challenge tomorrow.

@LegionMammal978 Good. The progress can't be cancelled, and so you have to have either a Wi-Fi connection or an unlimited Internet plan from your MSP (Mobile Service Provider).

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 Hotel Wi-Fi :|

Actually, it can be cancelled, but every updater recommends to finish the update fully.
@LegionMammal978 How much left until everything is finished updating?
Can someone test my chatbot in the Sandbox before it is uploaded to GitHub?

@zʏᴀʙiɴ101 From what I'm seeing so far, no less than an hour
And then I'll have to install a system update

@LegionMammal978 How much will it take?

@LegionMammal978 Android/Iphone/Windows/Mac/*nix/Linux?

@Bálint Android

@LegionMammal978 Then you can stop the install manager without any problems

OMG. I just discovered that spacebar is the universal button for scroll down in my browser

@Rainbolt You mean in most places?

Can you clarify?
I mean universal
As in it works in every scroll bar I have tried so far

Pretty much the only place it shouldn't work is when you can't scroll/can't scroll via keyboard/in text input

Yeah, it works in Outlook ... Reading View in Word ... PDF readers ... etc.

It also pauses youtube videos if the video has focus
otherwise you can still use "k"

1:35 PM
Spacebar is generally euivalent to the command "pagedown" is most soft
Same goes for backspace loading the previous page in browsers

Ugh, I hate that if the text field happens to lose focus.
That's tripped me up many times.

@Katenkyo yes

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Even if that means no feedback to the one testing the code?

?
Just note something like "For a truthy output it prints an empty string"
@Katenkyo is 1 truthy?

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ Evrything in lua is truthy but nil and false

2:04 PM
@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ I'll go with that, will have to revisit some of my codegolfs :)

so maybe you can output 1 instead? It's 1 bytes shorter than ''.
@Katenkyo nah, it's fine
just note in the future
@TimmyD that is amazing i need moar floof

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ not really, to output 1 I have to type print"1" or print(1), I only need print"" for an empty string

A: Interpretation of Truthy/Falsey

Peter TaylorConsider the following pseudocode: if (x) { print "x is truthy"; } else { print "x is falsy"; } If it results in a runtime or a compile-time error then x is neither truthy nor falsy.

you can't print 1?

Anonymous
2:06 PM
If it's truthy, it's truthy, and it's valid unless there are other restrictions on output format

@EᴀsᴛᴇʀʟʏIʀᴋ No, functions need parenthesis or an array or a single string as inputs ^^

@Mego Yeah, but I had a doubt because the empty string is invisible on the command line

Anonymous
@Katenkyo Surely it would print a newline?

2:07 PM
@Mego in case of using print, yes, but sometimes I'm using io.write and it won't

Sock confirmed.

Anonymous
In that case, I'd say it wouldn't be valid, since you're not actually printing anything to STDOUT

Anonymous
There's no way to tell if the program didn't print at all vs io.write""

I'd say it would be valid.

@Mego But technically, I did output the representation of an object of type string, which evaluate to true
Hence my question : is the empty string a valid truthy value

2:10 PM
yes
because if we did some majik like piping the output to a truthy/falsy checker instead, it would say true

Anonymous
@Katenkyo Consider the program to be a black box. You have no way of knowing if the program did io.write("") or do_something_that_does_not_print_to_stdout().

But htat doesn't matter over 1 single challenge?

Anonymous
If you were writing a function submission, an empty string being truthy would be fine - it's easy to tell what the return value is

Anonymous
But writing an empty string to STDOUT is another matter altogether, since nothing is actually written

@Mego I totally understand your PoV, that's why it's bugging me

2:12 PM
@Katenkyo I'd say it's valid, but avoid it anyway due to the wonders horrors of downvotes.
