@MDXF Done. Btw, it's better to use flags for these things. All mods will be able to see it, and there will be a constant reminder in case nobody can do it immediately.
@ConorO'Brien 1 I only put it in there 'cause Jonathan Leffler suggested I do it and Jonathan Leffler is awesome. 2 they really do obfuscate code if used in the right ways
@ConorO'Brien Even so I clearly wasn't trying to get people to win the IOCCC. I'd made a satirical guide and figured I'd back it up with a realistic one.
@MDXF I mean, not really. Good obfuscation tricks a reader who scans the code. I can look at the code, see the two strings of x.. sequences. From that I know its a hex-encoded string, then I can guess that this string is what's encoded. The truly essential bits are small.
good obfuscation is code that looks like it ought to print "Hello, World!" but prints the numbers 1 to 100 instead
Assembly / C Polyquine Progress Sandbox
I'm working on an Assembly and C polyquine based on a CMC a while ago. Here's my progress:
Some stuff that will help it work
Apparently C doesn't care if you have semicolons where they don't belong. That way I can just put a semicolon before C code.
I m...
Chartreuse (US /ʃɑːrˈtruːz/, /ʃɑːrˈtruːs/ or RP /ʃɑːˈtrɜːz/; French pronunciation: [ʃaʁtʁøz]) is a color between yellow and green that was named because of its resemblance to the green color of one of the French liqueurs called green chartreuse, introduced in 1764. Similarly, chartreuse yellow is a yellow color mixed with a small amount of green that was named because of its resemblance to the color of one of the French liqueurs called yellow chartreuse, introduced in 1838.
Yellow is perceived when the yellow-green cone receptors of the eye are proportionately more stimulated than that of the...
This is not a challenge. I am using the sandbox to... sandbox stuff.
My Progress
I'm not anywhere near the completion of this, but I've got an attack plan. They key word here is "abstraction." If a problem seems too esoteric to solve (as in this whole challenge), just abstract it to the nex...
@DestructibleLemon I've read it three times, but I still don't know what's going on there. 1. Did you ban someone from their own chat room? If so, undo this. 2. Why were you added as an RO in the first place?
Can my favourite team still become Football Champion? code-golf
As a fan of an at most moderately successful footballBE team, towards the end of the season I often wonder whether my favourite team still has any theoretical chance left of becoming champion. Your task in this challenge is to answe...
@DJMcMayhem Yeah, that's the main algorithm for Stirling numbers of the second kind. Even with storing the results in a list or in a dict, it takes ages for something like n = 10000, which is about the upper limit of what I've been able to calculate to.
In this challenge, you must take a string matching the regex ^[a-z]+$ or ^[A-Z]+$, or ^[A-Z][a-z]+$ or whatever is reasonable, (you may assume the string is long enough for all the operations), and output another string, produced similarly to word at the end of a recent dadaist tweet by the POTUS...
@ASCII-only Yeah, a few years ago it was Golfscript, Pyth and CJam dominating the challenges but now various different languages are winning with tiny programs
I am just starting with data analysis - therefore i have to ask for your help as i am struggling with some problems.
Let's say that i have a data set in excel, which contains following columns:

Bug: Voting is cross-site request
When I upvoted, Tampermonkey saw it as a cross-site request and flagged it.
I'm not sure whether this a bug in the script or in SE, but I'll show it anyways:
That's an answer, but same difference. Anyhow, would it be possible to put a link to it in the Sandbox question? I wish I'd've heard about it earlier.
@Downgoat Can we put a link to the sandbox viewer from the sandbox?
@Dennis would you please be able to update the markdown post generator for Whitespace snippets to encode spaces like it currently does for tabs? SE currently mangles whitespace only lines in <pre> blocks (lines of literal spaces get trimmed)
