What is that with First Posts and Late Answers RQs? :/

@zyabin101 ... No new users... :-O

[17:11] ->> You are now known as binazy101
What is that, with me, a ransacking man? :P
._. C'mon, guess it!

>_<
Check into the Sandbox for debugging session?
When are you free for a debugging session?
@wizzwizz4 Cool advertisement!

@zyabin101 Thanks! I made it myself.
92% freehand.

Get enough reputation to post this community ad on related sites, get enough votes to get it introduced, and watch AI get more commitments.

Really?
Ok.

First, find sites related to "Artifical Intelligence."

@zyabin101 Which sites do you suggest?

-._(._.)_.-
@quartata will you forgive me about UGL?

I'll just go through the Area51 proposal and find everything that "might overlap".

1:19 PM
Also, hello.
Some time ago, I changed my nickname on the QPixel IRC to binazy101. What is that, with me, a ransacking man? :P
._.

I don't get it...

not a typo for "Binary"?

Hi @BlockCoder1392. Do you like my advert?

@BlockCoder1392 No.

HELLO I AM BUTTER

1:27 PM
So, @wizzwizz4, did you find any sites related to "Artifical Intelligence?"

Yes.

gives @BlockCoder1392 to bot
"NO! NO! NOOOOO!"

Computer Science, Data Science, Robotics...

@BlockCoder1392 jumps back
@wizzwizz4 Good!
Second, post this community ad on these sites. Or I can do it, with your permission.

@zyabin101 Can I post it with a comment "suggested by zyabin101"?

1:30 PM
@wizzwizz4 Of course do. :D

butter

@BlockCoder1392 FEED ME BOT Don't.

But return to me links to the posts so I can watch for comments. :P
No one wants to solve my puzzle... ._.

Okay, publish the ad with a border.

You may run into problems trying to advertise an Area 51 proposal on an SE site. Last time I tried I was told it was not acceptable due to it leading to spamming of every proposal across lots of sites

1:39 PM
@trichoplax Please refresh?

@trichoplax @_@

@LeakyNun Done but I see no difference...

Me too

@trichoplax I'm only doing three sites, and with a custom image.

@LeakyNun Why refresh?

1:40 PM
@zyabin101 There is automatic advertising of Area 51 proposals - you'll see the official ads pop up every so often on SE sites
@wizzwizz4 I posted one comment on one site...

Q: What is codegolf.xyz?

Glenn Randers-PehrsonYesterday google turned up "codegolf.xyz". It seems to be an up-to-date mirror of codegolf.se but not exactly. For instance, if I go to the first question and click "more comments", it doesn't show me more comments. Is this a legitimate mirror or is it something else?

@trichoplax I wasn't criticising you. I was just replying.

Who actually owns codegolf.xyz?

@wizzwizz4 I wasn't complaining, just pointing out that your reasonable sounding low level of advertising is already more than the tiny amount I was told was not acceptable :)

@Adnan @mınxomaτ

1:42 PM
Thanks

@trichoplax Ah. Ok, I understand. Thanks for the warning.

@wizzwizz4 I don't know if community ads might be an exception since they only appear if the community welcomes them, but I wanted to let you know before you put too much effort into it...

@zyabin101 Here's the cs one: meta.cs.stackexchange.com/a/1281/51553

The nearest I could find to something relevant on Meta SE is over 5 years old

@trichoplax Thanks.
@zyabin101 cs is the only one out of Beta, and hence the only one with community ads.

1:49 PM
@wizzwizz4 Ah.

Aren't we due Community Ads here at some point?

Chat mini-challenge: given an array of length 100 which contains every integer from 1 to 99 inclusive, output the duplicate.

Closed as no winning criterion :P

1:55 PM
@trichoplax I thought we already had them.

Q: Advertising an Area 51 proposal in Community Ads

trichoplaxI understand that posting comments to existing SE sites advertising an Area 51 proposal is not allowed. However, I'm not sure if the same applies to Community Ads. Since these are only shown on the main site if the community supports them on meta, is it acceptable to post a suggested advert for ...

@wizzwizz4 We have meta posts about making ads to be shown on other sites, but as far as I can see we don't yet have a meta post where we can vote on which ads will be shown on our site
The nearest I can find is
> You will soon be able to select your own community ads
in the graduation meta post

@wizzwizz4 we have ads for PPCG which are shown on other SEs. we are not showing community ads on PPCG yet.

@MartinBüttner Do you know if we can go ahead with a meta post to get voting started while we wait for our community ads to be activated? Or does the meta post need to be an official one?

I don't actually know, but I figured the CMs will take care of this at some point.

2:04 PM
Just checked Worldbuilding, and Grace Note posted theirs so I guess we just wait
@wizzwizz4 @zyabin101 some potential good news: I found a well received Area 51 ad on Worldbuilding's Community Ads meta post

@trichoplax :D
I finally created a Firefox profile. ಠ_ಠ,
Hope it'll work.
Golf me in the code! It works! \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/ \o/

Chat mini-challenge: Write an online algorithm to find the (floor) square root of a non-negative integer.
testcases: 0->0, 1->1, 3->1, 9->3, 17->4

How do you ensure it's online?

I'll only give you two bits at a time

2:17 PM
uh
how does that work in non-bit languages?
ints?

define non-bit languages

uh
i mean how do you give two bits at a time

you can only use bitwise operations
and I can read your algorithm
well you can use non-bitwise operations
but I will read your algorithm

are you making up the rules on the spot? :P

2:20 PM
@MartinBüttner Shhh...

I have a QPixel instance in Cloud9: qpixel-schas002.c9users.io
But it only works occasionally.

@trichoplax I found two well-received ads on Computer Science.

What should I draw for zyabinVI? :/

Something like:
function OnlineRoot() {
    var s2 = Math.sqrt(2);
    this.bits = [];
    this.root = 0;
}

OnlineRoot.prototype.input = function(bit) {
    if (bit) {
        this.bits.push(1);
    } else {
        this.bits.push(0);
    }
    var root = Math.floor(this.root * s2);
    while (root * root < this.number)
        root++;
    this.root = root - 1;
}

@wizzwizz4 on Computer Science the highest voted Area 51 ad I could find had zero votes.

2:28 PM
@MarsUltor Draw code? Never!

@zyabin101 I was replying to Kenny
@zyabin101 Draw?

@MarsUltor I'm making a graphic for zyabinVI, and have no ideas what the graphic should be.

Whoops, replace this.bits = []; with this.number = 0;, then make it this.number *= 2; this.number += bit ? 1 : 0;

@zyabin101 like the avatar?

Okay. :3

2:32 PM
@zyabin101 Are you talking about your chatbot?

@wizzwizz4 About my experimenting organization. ~_~
@Downgoat Whose avatar?

@zyabin101 facepalm I've seen stuff on your GitHub, of course I should know.

@zyabin101 zyabinVIs

@Downgoat Okay. :3

2:40 PM
@orlp @trichoplax I think I managed to fix up the mathematical formulation of my actual problem... it's a bit... trickier... in reality I've got h = p f^-1 g^n(x) f q, where q embeds the input of h in a higher-dimensional space (could be q(x) = (x, 0, 0) for instance), f is an arbitrary bijective function on that space, g is as before, but can be repeated a number of times which can depend on h's input, and p is a projection from the higher dimensional space back onto Z.
(this is still not 100% my actual setup but I think it contains all the relevant features)
and I also think I can show that thanks to the projection and the repeated application of g something as simple as g(x, ...) = (x+1, ...) is sufficient after all.

@MartinBüttner I now understand less, but am more curious about what this is heading towards...
@MartinBüttner Does this mean n is a function of x too?

yes... I think it's also arbitrary and bijective
(oh and of course, all of those are computable)

@MartinBüttner What's the original question?

@MartinBüttner Looks like diagonalization to me

@mınxomaτ Thanks. :3

@MartinBüttner I think the result is not quite predictable. Take f = e^x and g=x*2 as example. f^-1 g f would be x + ln 2

I'm not sure I understand what you're trying to say but those aren't functions on the integers and f isn't bijective either

oh ok
Could you provide some examples to clarify your question?

well the question from yesterday has pretty much been sorted out

2:56 PM
well alright

thanks for trying to help, but the underlying issues are pretty tricky and doing my head in right now, and I don't feel like divulging the entire background at the moment ;) ... I just wanted to update orlp and trichoplax because under the conditions I presented yesterday we were left with the conclusion that what I was looking for was impossible

So you are trying to find {g|∀h:∃f:f^-1 g f = h}

that was what I was looking for yesterday, yes, but it's easy to show that that's impossible

where f and h are ℤ:ℤ

2:59 PM
@LeakyNun What was your original name Kenny Lau?

@wizzwizz4 I changed my profile pic long time ago

it was definitely Nyan Luke...

FRU--- "zhtap it!" "AAAAA!"

@MartinBüttner Hmm...
@MartinBüttner Does that apply to posts that you spent 3 hours crafting?

3:03 PM
@MartinBüttner Could you estimate the runtime-complexity of this?
public int mySqrt(int x) {
    if(x<1) return 0;
    if(x<4) return 1;
    if(x<9) return 2;
    int hi = ((x-1)>>1)+1;
    int lo = (hi+(x/hi))>>1;
    while(lo<hi){
        hi = lo;
        lo = (lo+(x/lo))>>1;
    }
    return hi;
}
(Newton's Method)

@LeakyNun not interesting, use binary integer square root :P

@orlp What are you referring to?
the "online algorithm"?

@LeakyNun Fails for smiley faces negative numbers.

@wizzwizz4 What should I return for negative numbers?
@orlp this
@orlp this also

3:07 PM
u r ninja'd

@LeakyNun if(x<0) return mySqrt(0-x) * i;

The new team for the Cable Box images is called "Art and Design".
This name assumes that it also includes "Web Design", and every repo of that team should also belong to "Art and Design" itself.

Unless you're an engineer, in which case:

But there are three ways to deal with it. I could call the "Web Design" team "Web Production", and/or the "Art and Design" team "Artistic Content".
The third way is to do both of these renamings.
Dilemma. >_<

return ((((1+j)/mySqrt(2))*((1+j)/mySqrt(2)))^6)*mySqrt(x);

Thanks for helping draw something for zyabinVI, @Downgoat!
In exchange for contributions to zyabinVI (even if it was just an idea), you get an invite to zyabinVI!

@zyabin101 Getting rid of the ambiguous word altogether (both changes) seems better for new arrivals

@zyabin101 You could use this:

Your assigned team is "Art and Design". Please wait until I send the invite.

@trichoplax Okay, so I do both name changes.
Thanks.
@trichoplax Are you on GitHub?

3:17 PM
@zyabin101 Uh, technically...

@trichoplax You are?

As in, I have an account but minimal activity

Anyone here on Windows (x64 and a non-Intel GPU) who can test something for me?

@mınxomaτ I use x86 and an unknown GPU.
So no.
But I'm interested, what it is.

@mınxomaτ I use x64 and am checking my GPU...

3:22 PM
@Downgoat you're invited. Note that the invite expires tomorrow.

@zyabin101 GPGPU compatibility test.

Okay.
@trichoplax Your GH username is unknown.
You didn't add a link to your GitHub to your Stack Exchange profile.

@zyabin101 It's phagocyte (my username here used to be githubphagocyte too)

Okay.

@mınxomaτ I can't find the msinfo32 entry :-/

3:23 PM
@zyabin101 I know - it has nothing worth advertising on it :)

@wizzwizz4 Check manufacturer

@trichoplax Wait, I don't know which team to assign you to.
You don't get an invitation. Sorry.

@mınxomaτ No, it's not there. I've found the CPU entry (Intel) but not the GPU entry.

@zyabin101 I don't know what you're inviting people to, and I wasn't expecting anything - so all is well :)

Oh, wait. My CPU is my GPU. :-/ Sorry.

3:25 PM
@trichoplax I'm inviting people to my experimenting organization.

@zyabin101 Ooh, pick me, pick me!

@wizzwizz4 I won't. You have to make a contribution to zyabinVI to get invited.

@zyabin101 How do I do that?

@wizzwizz4 Do you have a GitHub account?

@zyabin101 Yes... Oh. That sort of contribution.
I'll just have a look...

3:28 PM
You can either send a pull request to any of zyabinVI's repos or help me out with zyabinVI in chat.
Enough contibutions will give you an invite. Invites are sent via email and can be viewed at github.com/zyabinVI.

@zyabin101 What are you aiming to do?

@wizzwizz4 Experiment.
The number is definite and increases with the number of members of the org.
It is 1 right now.

@zyabin101 You also have Vista. You don't qualify for any testing whatsoever ;)

@mınxomaτ Ikr.
Why?
