when performing a map on newline splitted strings, instead of }%N*, do N}%

All the more reason not to use it

I think in this case you should actually use N*, because your version adds an empty line at the end

as far as I understand the rules, you can reuse earlier spells for multiple gestures, but you can only cast 1 spell per gesture made.

it doesn't make much sense though, because they either cancel or combine to a single elemental

your own rule says "every gesture may be used to cast only a single spell"
