@psimeson yes. I wish I was recovering a partition right now so I could do the step by step with you. When you load it from the back up, there will be an option at the bottom to Write the changes to the drive which should replace the GPT with the backup
I saw a post on Google Plus, that had a screenshot showing off Ubuntu with an app, in that app, you could select the software you would like to install, I think it was to install the lastest version via ppa, like vlc. But, can't find that post on my Google Plus feed! Anybody saw this?
I'm trying to use the "Disks" tool on the live usb to see if there's any issues with my hard drive, but it says "SMART is not supported", is that because it's in RAID?
@Fabby Whats funny is, that that is my bios.7z xD. I posted the same pcsx2 tutorial in 2013. I still have the same bios.7z. extracted both, they are exactly the same xD
I am using the Live USB to troubleshoot a troublesome hard drive.
I want to run the self-test but as you can see in the image below that it says "SMART is not supported" and because of this I can't run the test. Is it because it's in Raid configuration?
Is there a way to make is so SMART is s...
guys, for what it is worth I may have found the issue :) I found a benchmark option and my troublesome harddrive has a read speed of 6MB/s write of 3MB/s. To put it into perspective a different hard drive (working fine) was around 80MB/s
@MadhavNikam: I'm very sorry for the late reply. I was traveling these days and very busy. I'm very happy you successfully accomplished it. If do you have any question, don't doubt to ask.
I have mixed feelings about that. On the one hand, it does enable easy reading in the dark. On the other hand, they don't make the Kindle Touch anymore, so I'd be hesitant to replace mine.
Two days before leaving Ukraine. Everything was fine. But today she talked to her cousin about the current generation of kids and how everyone is lazy and bad, so after cousin left we started drinking whiskey. I couldn't have anticipated she's gonna start an argument.
Man I feel bad about grandma now. Me and mom always have stupid arguments over nothing. I'm coming back to Denver and I ain't touching no alcohol or smokes. I'm so done.
@Fabby Oh no, he only asked question Numero Uno on AU and served as mod pro tempor and has written a few Ubuntu mobile apps and is totally cool and is very helpful

My problem is finding a project that I can actually help in with my experience.
Does anyone know where I can get access to the logs for apt-get update? They don't seem to be stored in the /var/log/apt/ directory like the rest of the apt-get logs.
@Seth I've converted less then 10 so far, but everyone is very impressed that their old computers can get a second life and become very fast again! ;-)
I say: "Do you want your kid to use your old computer and I'll install everything they need to be able to use it as a school computer and make them look cool too?"
and to the kids that are >12 I give them an admin password and show them the software center...
Be me . . . Installed xubuntu on mom's coworker's laptop. Tell her how to use it. Second week passes - she says "yeah, it's been working great but I still bought a new one" . Imconfused.png
