Anyone know how I would tell the way that I installed my NVIDIA drivers? I think I did it via xorg-edgers PPA, but I have this feeling I may not have and might have done it via the installer from NVIDIA...
I just spent a few frustrating hours troubleshooting on a Raspberry Pi 2 only to find out that it is impossible to print to my Canon printer natively using CUPS. Thankfully, my printer supports Google Cloud Print and I could just use a nice tool called CUPS Cloud Print to redirect my printing job...
My Ubuntu is receiving inbound traffic while my PC is disconnected from Ethernet and WIFI, so my question is, how am I receiving inbound traffic? I even have a firewall that is turned on.
The information below is optional to read; however, it will give you a better understanding about my problem...
Earlier today, this question was asked and contained a delusional rant about the KKK and the FBI and looked a bit like an episode of the X-files...
My question is simple: Should we help this user (by calming him down as Andrew T. did) or close these kind of questions?
I've been using a loop that contains xrandr --output VGA1 --brightness 0.3 in a bash script which will automatically execute right after logging in by gnome-session-properties (a.k.a. Startup Applications).
Is there any configuration file that can control the monitor brightness while a display c...
I'm trying to put Ubuntu on my desktop. Right now, it and my laptop are running Manjaro 3.18. I've been using Unetbootin to create the live USB on my laptop. I've tried several different versions of Ubuntu, as well as a couple other distros. I've removed and reinstalled Unetbootin a few times as ...
I am not talking about people with borderline personality or spectrum disorder issues (like rudeness), rather behaviours like paranoia and depression.
A recent question on Ask Ubuntu highlighted that I just don't know how to safely deal with some personality traits. It was a long and extremely...
I already noticed that Luis alone marked the following question as a duplicate some time ago: My MTP capable device is not detected? What can I do about that?
Here is my observation on the topic:
There have been many very localized questions about MTP support on a variety of devices.
There hav...

I installed Java 6 (jre-6u45-linux-x64.bin) on a Ubuntu 12.04 machine following the procedure from this link: http://ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1904467 .
When I later installed Java 7 and checked the version of the current java it showed Java 6. And yet, a program that requires Java 7 to r...
@Seth I'd think I'd rather believe his dad is Steve blamer, he stole top secret windows 8 plans that would have made the os amazing. So this is the reason he has to dislike Linux so much, this would explain the relentless hacking, and give us a reason to help - at least it could get some really good interest on skeptics or security.se
I need sshd to both listen on port 22225 (and allow connections on that port from ANY ip) and port 22 (allowing just ONE static ip on that port) at the same time. In other words, listen on two ports at the same time while whitelisting connections only on one port. Is there a way to do that? I'm r...
@Oli According to the most up-voted answer, we didn't do too bad! Thanks again... (I owe you an entire evening out in the pub by now with all the stuff you've done for me.) ;-)
remember how your were doing a mirrors edge type toturial game on ue4 - what if you combined a type of flag football multiplayer game, was thinking about characters running around with 3-4 feet long flags hooked to their waist
That would be super easy, but then you have to rig and animate all the models or find assets ready to snap in to ue4. The flag part is super easy though. It's just a rear facing invisible child collision box
thought it might be fun as the flag would do a bit of path following on your character, so the more jumps and turns, the harder it would be to pull your flag
it would be interesting if you worked in either the american flag football or freerun race/chase angle. freerun race/chase could be really interesting if you got points for winning the race and worked with "do you really want to be in front? not really"
Only two projects got hammered though according to the article. Sounds more like a test drive to me. What if they had put in a few thousand URLs for popular projects...
aaand this error "Failed to retrieve share list from server: No such file or directory" stops me from accessing my directory on the machine my wife works atm.
Yes and no. The philosophy of putting 5 languages on a product as opposed to crying about putting a second one (people get upset about that in the US mostly in areas with poor breeding). Y'all is in Murica. Speak the English - sort of thing. And yes, I'm making light of my native country. It's not just the speaking differently.
Made it to Italy once. There were differences that I liked, and there were some I didn't. It's sort of a finding the place that suits you the best thing I think. I'm not sure a lot of people, myself included, have the opportunity to do that.
