Q: Which time period is deemed appropriate to delete an unanswered question from a network site in order to repost it on another site?

kosI made the mistake of asking a question on StackOverflow. The problem with it is that questions asked there are likely to end up at the bottom of the stack in no time due to the high number of old questions edited/new questions asked per minute, and it looks like I've even chose the worst time to...

How to retreiv specific text from terminal output? I have installed tlp webupd8.org/2013/04/improve-power-usage-battery-life-in.html inside my system to prevent laptop over heating. I want to retrieve the cpu temperature from tlp. I used this code " tlp-stat -t " but it gives result like this
+++ Temperatures
CPU temp = 51 [°C]
Fan speed = (not available)
how to get only the integer value, that is 51

@NathanOsman and @hbdgaf Are you still fiddling around with your Sudoku solvers? I tried my strategy on a piece of paper with a grid declared as "hard" and got stuck... So I cheated a bit and did a research - I wish I didn't! Did you ever hear of strategies like "3D Medusa", "Death Blossom", "Franken Swordfish" or "Sue-de-Coq"? There were about 40 strategies like this and mine covered less than 5... I feel like giving up after that, especially as the set still is not complete... :P
I still try coding a solver with the strategies I came up with originally and see how far it gets me. Then I might add one or two of the simpler ones from that guru...
Logging out now for preparing diner and burying my head in sudoku grids later... See you!

No, I haven't given up on my Sudoku solver yet. Just waiting for some time over the weekend to look further into it.
I'm still convinced I can come up with something that works and is reasonably fast.

6:58 PM
still? wow ok

yeah, still.

I think your music is driving you to a non-stop cleaning ;)

I think I need t o be driven to a non-stop cleaning.

that way we'd not need to wash anything

we? I'm transportaionally cleaning your house too? well this sucks.
I must have hulk mode activated or something, I just ripped my can crusher out of the wall... it has been fine for months.

That doesn't work very well, IMHO.
I've set up the freeciv-server program on my server and we connect to that using the various desktop clients.
(I prefer the SDL client and my brother uses the GTK+ client.)

Q: dh-make "Could not find package_1.0.orig.tar.xz"

ToroidalI am trying to package a bash script into a .deb file and as instructed here I am using the i option after running in the directory which contains the bash script: dh_make But after it says: Hit to confirm: And I hit Enter I get this error: Could not find package_1.0.orig.tar.xz Either spe...

@heemayl Hi! Sorry I didn't reply earlier, I was away.

8:31 PM
" Unless --native was given, dh_make makes sure a original source archive
(<packagename>_<version>.orig.tar.gz) exists. The archive can either
end with .gz or one of the other supported compression extensions such
as bz2 or lzma. If no such file exists, the file specified with -f is
copied in place. If no -f is supplied either but --createorig is, the
current directory is created into a news archive
../<packagename>-<version>.orig.tar.gz The original archive is needed
Since you don't have a "pristine upstream", or other tarball, make one using --createorig
That was from the manpage as well.

@terdon: No problem..nothing special..need a favor
:)

What's up?

user136984
@muru Ok, and what about the license? Do I just put it in a text file with the name of the license and then how do I get dh-make to see it?

Can i steal your avatar ....lol

Huh?
What for? That's me!
I mean, it's a picture of me.

8:39 PM
@Toroidal tried -c path/to/license?

lol
is it CC BY?
Don't worry..i won't
just liked the picture very much

Probably not actually. I guess I may have made it so by posting it here but the photo was actually taken by a friend of mine who's a photographer.
It's a nice photo, yes :)
I don't really mind if you use it I guess, it's just kind of strange since, well, it's me.

probably my favorite of all SE avatars..

user136984
@muru And do I have to put the license in the same folder that the bash script is in that I am packaging or can it be anywhere? And do I have to call the license file a specific thing or can it be anything, and the extensions, can it just a file called "license.txt"?

liked it since the first day

8:42 PM
Awww :)

so you are a guitarist too!!!!!

Here's the original:

@Toroidal it gets copied to the debian/copyright file, IIRC

user136984
Ok

noooo
the pic was the original

8:43 PM

user136984
@muru Thanks! :)

trust me!!

@Toroidal oh wait
I just checked manpage

oh i see
you meant the image

I just cut out a bit.

8:44 PM
-c accepts a few fixed licenses like gpl, mit, bsd, etc
if it's a custom one, don't use -c, but cpy it later to debian/copyright manually

yeah..brilliant take i must say

Yup, the guy's a pro.

user136984
@muru I am planning to use either GPL V2, or V3, so how will I get it to do either of those?

And we were all moving. A lot.

seems so..you play guitar a lot?

user136984
8:45 PM
Do I just do the -c and then the name of the license?

user136984
And what names would it except?

-c gpl or -c gpl2

:

user136984
@muru So gpl would be v1 or default v3?

 -c, --copyright license
          Use license type in copyright file. license can be gpl, gpl2,
          gpl3, lgpl, lgpl2 lgpl3, artistic, apache, bsd or mit.

8:46 PM
@heemayl Yeah, quite a bit. It's one of my great pleasures in life.

user136984
@muru Oh, ok, thanks! :)

gpl and lgpl will give you
version 3 of the corresponding license, apache implies Apache
v2.0. If you need a different version, change the license file
afterwards or use the gpl2 and lgpl2 options.

user136984
Ok

man..you are multi-dimensional..

user136984
It's odd, I could have sworn that I had read that part of the man page... :D

user136984
8:47 PM
But obviously I missed a bit! Either that or aliens interfered with the connection! :D :P

@heemayl Lol, I'm sure we all have lives beyond SE :)

lol
sure sure

@Toroidal aliens, more likely. :D

user136984
:D

user136984
@muru: By the way, what does it mean in the man pages when it says "Use license type in copyright file"? Which copyright file?

8:50 PM
lets see if i can control my temptation to steal it...i don't know may be i will steal it.....so just letting you know beforehand..lol

@Toroidal debian/copyright

user136984
@muru So does it create it? Or do I?

after you run dh_make, a folder named debian will be created
it will contain essential files for packaging like debain/{control,rules,copyright} etc
If you don't specify -c, there will be some boilerplate in debian/copyright

user136984
@muru: Ok, thanks! :)

So someone the other day asked me if I eat pork. My answer "Pretty much, if it bleeds I'll eat it, so yes." I think I creeped her out a little.

Yeah, it's a little creepy. It covers all the bases doe.
