Dong as in ding-dong is clearly onomatopoetic as confirmed by etymonline.com:
ding dong
imitative of the sound of a bell, c.1560.
and similarly for ding:
ding (v.)
1819, "to sound as metal when struck," possibly abstracted from ding-dong, of imitative origin. The meaning "t...
@Seth I know. I must have clicked on that avatar at least 5 times thinking "huh, a smoking dinosaur" and then chuckled at the joke. I keep forgetting for some reason.
And I'll thank you not to speculate as to what that reason may be :)
So I have just been introduced to Cathode for OSX and I am completely fascinated by how classic it looks with it's 1970s retro style. Does anyone know of any programs/packages I can download to get my terminal to sport that very look? If there are no packages available, is there are setting I can...
@Lucio it would be interesting as a point of reference, but 1) it's a debugger not a static analysis tool and 2) it's for windows not linux/unix. besides, i'm having a more interesting time trying to write all the features of ida than i would just using a workaround tool.
Can someone settle this argument: is it normal for a standard SATA magnetic hard disk, while performing reads and writes, to make an audible, repetitive, clicking noise?
@Mateo it's not normally a problem. i think it's that there was an issue at work yesterday. so, i wanted subconsciously to go in even less than normal.

Send me a URL ma...
Well, as has been discussed on meta, the "real work" is in the process of reviewing the questions / answers / dups and nudging things in the right direction, either to "close", more info, or a solution
@LuisAlvarado is this a vbox question in question? you should just use a nat and host only adapter. that's the recommended deployment from loads of people
I want to reinstall all packages in Ubuntu 13.10 that were downloaded from my country local repository to change them to global repository versions. I can work on system that is completely English, so it is not a problem.
How can I exchange these packages (nearly all or find the country local)?

Firstly, I'm not sure if I'm asking this in the right place, so if someone could kindly redirect me to an appropriate place to post this question, that would be appreciated. :)
Anyways, I currently have created two virtual machines in VirtualBox both running linux ubuntu 14.04, and now want to h...
