resumed from suspend successfully again haha I'm still fist-pumping over this

Crouton is OT right
@Zanna wat

yesterday I learned that with systemd we should suspend with systemctl suspend - it works for me and I've never been able to suspend before - any other command or using GUI just causes total freeze

ah

you can use crouton to run Ubuntu on Chromebook I believe...

yeah but I'm pretty sure Crouton itself is off topic

5:15 PM
@Zacharee1 Why?
Not saying it isn't, I don't really know.

someone having trouble with it

Ah, OK. Just looked it up. I guess it might be off topic. Does it only run on chromiumOS?

yes
it's exclusive for Chromebooks
it's whatever lets them run Ubuntu

@terdon ues
sorry: yes

OK. Off topic it is then.

5:18 PM
pew pew
pew pew?
@Zanna I think you're making rep faster than @Videonauth

this OP is clearly trying to do exactly this...? idk

@Zanna here's the thing though. It isn't Ubuntu. It's something that allows Chromebooks to use Ubuntu. In my mind, it's like saying questions about rEFInd are on-topic because it's used to get Ubuntu working on Macs

@Zacharee1 seems Videonauth is taking a break

lol
maybe

rEFInd is OT?

5:23 PM
@Zanna No

@terdon if I ask how to install rEFInd onto my Mac here that will be accepted?

It isn't mac-specific at all and, anyway, bootloaders are OS agnostic (or should be).
@Zacharee1 No. But if you ask how to install it on a machine running Ubuntu, I don't see why not
Should we also make grub, lilo, burg etc off topic?

so it's the Ubuntu connection

These are kinda borderline cases and I'm really not the best mod to ask.

@terdon if you ask it about a machine NOT running Ubuntu it is off topic though? I hope

5:24 PM
@Rinzwind I'd say so, yes.

pfew :+D

phew!

But I don't see anything wrong with someone wanting to use rEFInd on an Ubuntu machine to boot Ubuntu.

NO! we do pfew! not phew! >:)
you and your weird accent :D

@terdon rEFInd was written by an ubuntu user :P

5:25 PM
@Rinzwind Shh. Don't make fun of the lisping girl!

o_O

@Seth There you go then :)

@Seth is that Q OT?

LOL
@Seth so was Mint

I wasn't correcting you @Rinzwind just expressing my own relief that rEFInd for Ubuntu is declared not off-topic, cause I was getting confused

5:26 PM
LOL

@Rinzwind has a point

rEFInd isn't off-topic

I have several points. and comma's and semi-colon's :+)

@Seth so I can say "help! I tried to boot rEFInd because I want to use it to boot Mac OS on my HP, but it isn't working!"

@Zacharee1 you know what I mean

5:27 PM
:)
connection to Ubuntu

@Zacharee1 you can :+) you always can

Firefox is OT if you're running OSX, but not if your running ubuntu ;)

how did you manage to use the right word once and then wrong the second time?

oh we are making it a browser war now?

@Rinzwind CHROME FTW
In any case, I think that question should be closed as unclear (if not OT), because it really is
is that code block output thing from the Reddit thread or is it OP's?
we don't know

5:30 PM
I'm from Lincolnshire and my accent is indeed funny:
http://www.poemhunter.com/poem/northern-farmer-old-style/

@Seth so here's the question. If it's an error or problem caused by Crouton, do we support it?
Because the Xorg crash (if it's OP's) suggests it's Crouton's fault
> (EE) Please also check the log file at "/tmp/Xorg.crouton.1.log" for additional information.

hello

olleh

> crouton is a set of scripts that bundle up into an easy-to-use, Chromium OS-centric chroot generator. Currently Ubuntu and Debian are supported (using debootstrap behind the scenes), but "Chromium OS Debian, Ubuntu, and Probably Other Distros Eventually Chroot Environment" doesn't acronymize as well (crodupodece is admittedly pretty fun to say, though).

@Rinzwind YZNIR ! :D

5:33 PM
funny, and makes me think it's off-topic
since technically, it's ChromeOS software, not a bootloader or anything like that

Why can nobody come up with an answer that actually answers my question and doesn't just tell me how to do something related?

A: Where is search history stored in Firefox and how to disable it?

Ben DurhamI do not know where the history is stored, but you can turn search history off if you click on the three bars on the far left of the menu bar, then press preferences, and navigate to the privacy section. Here, you can turn off history and request that sites don't track you.

A: Where is search history stored in Firefox and how to disable it?

verpfeiltVisit about:preferences#privacy (type this in the url to open the privacy preferences, or navigate manually). Then tick off "Store visited pages and downloads" (Translated from german "Besuchte Seiten und Download-Chronik speichern"). This keeps the old history, but will not add new items to it. ...

@Zanna You do not speak like that!

user136984
5:34 PM
I just want to disable the search history! Nothing else!

@ParanoidPanda all firefox files are in your home under

under...wear?

@ParanoidPanda you can also use it on private mode

/home/rinzwind/.mozilla/firefox

@ParanoidPanda Close firefox. Get the md5sums (or just modification dates) of all files in your profile. Open firefox with nothing but an empty page, search something and close it again. Try and figure out which files changed.

5:36 PM
@terdon +1 this! :=)

md5sums?
why would it be better than just getting time stamps?

or also possible: close FF and copy that dir over to a backup and then do a diffdir

@terdon maybe not quite like that... ;)

(just curious if theres any advantadge)

@IanC It wouldn't, probably.

5:37 PM
@IanC these crazies just love their md5s

@Zanna I spent 4 years living in York and even learned to decipher the lingo but it wasn't anywhere near that! :P

@IanC tomato tomato (use Zanna's accent with the 2nd)

@terdon new yohwk

hahaha

@Zacharee1 No, the old one.

5:37 PM
oh york lol

last youtube-dl version on repository doesnt work :/

@terdon I bet there is an Old York. You just meant York. OH and been there ;-)
damn there is none :* en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Old_York

why are images of the back of the SM-T813 so hard to find?
it looks nice!

@Rinzwind he says in Italian

5:39 PM
looks like español to me

@Rinzwind GRUB failed to install. It's a dupe

@Zacharee1 I like italian :=) I am not much for Tapas

sigh

@Zacharee1 a dupanol then?

5:40 PM
yes

ja

@terdon I lived in Yorkshire for 5 years and we could communicate but their accent is not quite the same as ours. And actually I'm half scouse half yellowbelly... so really I am like a dialect translator

we have a scouser here?
dont know what kind of belly that is

Person from Lincolnshire=yellowbelly (my mum & me) but my dad is a Scouser

there is a famous village in Belguim where northern inhabitants can not understand the southern inhabitants. The northern part has a dutch dialect and the southern one french.

5:42 PM
I had a penpal from near Sheffield area. After a while, she stopped writing back to me. :(
She used to talk about Mancs and scousers.

awww Sheffield is a great place... she was probably just distracted by all the nice stuff to do there

Last I heard, she was talking about doing masters in psych or something
lost her after that

working hard maybe then :)

Chesterfield D3

@Rinzwind where is this "Belguim"?

5:44 PM
Hi and goodbye @jokerdino ! :)

@Zanna yeah, spose so.
@cl-netbox hi and nighto

Goodbye all ! :)

@Zacharee1 southside Netherlands :=)

oh yeah that place is famous...

5:45 PM
yeah, I have heard of Belguim too
but not in that way
403

Chesterfield
oh :(

@Zanna don't use the DDG link :p
@Rinzwind read the word a few times
just when we thought we were safe, a mod named @Darth_Vader shows up

Maybe I should find a new pal. Been almost 2 years now.

user136984
This one is better:

A: Where is search history stored in Firefox and how to disable it?

jiipeezzFirefox stores information in three different files basically (possible to have more), places.sqlite (for the bookmarks and sites you have visited), formhistory.sqlite (autocomplete history) and downloads.sqlite (all your downloads). (Personally have encountered cookies.sqlite too) To find these...

who's somehow managed to not join any other sites

@Zacharee1 you haven't paid tribute to the darkside

@Darth_Vader you want cookies?

user136984
But still only gives me a pointer for one of my questions, and doesn't actually do any more than point me in the probably right direction. Though I haven't been able to find what I am looking for still. He also does not tell me how to disable it.

5:48 PM
@Zanna is that a tower or a church?

@HenryWHHackv2.0 that's French. I speak Spanish

@Zacharee1 they all look similar

@jokerdino languacist!
:p

I can recog a lot of basic French and Spanish words.

@Zacharee1 hhmm.. what site are you going to point me to then?

5:49 PM
none
I thought it was a pretty amazing achievement :p
@HenryWHHackv2.0 I can't translate it fully, but it's basically saying OP has a max resolution of 1366x768, but his monitor supports 1080p

how are you going to give me cookies then?

@jokerdino it's a church I believe... Chesterfield people are very proud of it, but I went there with an Iranian friend and he said 'we Asians just do not get this. You screwed up building something... would you like us to fix it for you?'

fetch style

user136984
What ever happened to VirusBoy and all the others who were around when I first started here?

@jokerdino no they don't :P

5:51 PM
@ParanoidPanda like any other users: we probably dont know.

@Seth Tried to poke him :P

haha. it worked :P

@Zanna ha, it did look a bit bizarre but didn't want to offend anyone.

@Zanna Ooh, wow. I'd love to hear your accent. And of course it's not the same, you Brits change accent every 3 kilometers or so :)

looks similar to that tall building in Dubai.
maybe not that one. Let me figure it.

5:53 PM
@jokerdino yeah tbh I don't really get the 'charm' of the spire either!

@jokerdino Petronas towe ;-)

@Darth_Vader nice

+r

@terdon haha maybe I should record myself ^_^ I used to work on a cruise ship and there I learned that there is no such thing as a weird accent...

5:54 PM
because I have no idea if my translation is accurate

That's where India's richest man lives ^

@Zanna Indeed. Mine's quite weird actually. I have an American father with a mild west coast accent, I grew up in Greece, went to uni in the UK and then lived in Spain and France. At this point, my accent is all over the place.

@terdon some of them don't even sound like English

@jokerdino cough most don't cough

@Zacharee1 I can read it well enough to see your translation is fine
I will edit slightly

5:57 PM
Scouse, Geordie, et al - I have no clue what they say.

@Zanna I left "want it to be 1080p" because I don't know if they know there are hardware constraints to resolution. So keep that

user136984
Another answer which doesn't really answer my question! >:{

user136984
This is getting too much! :D

@Zacharee1 see, they are all the same language

@somemod protect @ParanoidPanda's question

5:58 PM
When did @Zanna hit 4k?!

@jokerdino I can understand quite a bit of written French because of my Spanish actually.
@jokerdino IKR!

This is like Videonauth 2.0.
@Zacharee1 /me goes to language school.

@Zanna it's 1080p not 1200p
