basic idea: someone between china and the outside world - probably someone managing the great firewall - launched a ddos attack on github today

the attack worked by attempting to load a nonexistent page on github's domain as a javascript file, so in response, github created the page and made it return alert("Malicious Script Detected")

"possible", yes. absolutely. you might end up manufacturing your own hardware to make it work, though, lol. I've never looked inside one of those consoles so I can't say for sure.
