Nobody seems to maintaining the StackEgg. I'm restarting it now.
Make sure someone is there to advance it.
I am about to leave. Someone should be there to tend to it.

@DragonLord I can't see it at work. :(

Can i have stackeggs for breakfast? do they have any hashstack and stackcakes too?

@JourneymanGeek This comment should be "Dumb question. The Elitepad 1000 and the Elitepad 1000 G2 Rugged are different models."

Users are finding out they can upgrade to IE11...
Then calling the servicedesk to upgrade.
Then when they run into the billion issues we have with IE11, they call us to fix it.

yea you are far better off with IE6 :-)

IE8 is the standard currently.

4:13 AM
lol
We have almost no IE at work \o/

Be on guard, we may have an incoming spam attack for April Fool's Day.

5:07 AM
often there is a A1 fun attack, more than a spam oppertunity

that moment you format a USB drive and realise you forgot to check what was on it first...

. . .then have to unformat it

5:41 AM
@MichaelFrank: testdisk worked the last time I tried that

@JourneymanGeek I'm pretty sure I didn't need what was on it. But I had already started burning an ISO onto it before I realised.

6:27 AM

Bob
6:49 AM
@JourneymanGeek huh, mine isn't
@JourneymanGeek Apparently 2.1 and iF commemorative are all single-flange
you have a 2.0

7:05 AM
The 2.0 shouldn't have the clip tho?

Bob
...idk
> Lifting the travel case out, you’re greeted with three pairs of tips – a small pair, large pair, and a bass-ported dual-flange pair. Now, this is where things get a tad confusing. The tips I mentioned only apply to the 2.0 set – that is, if you’ve purchased a pair before around late March of 2014. If you’ve purchased a pair after that, then you will most likely have the so-called 2.1 version (it is so-called because it is an unofficial term used around Head-Fi). Of course, let’s not forget about the commemorative iF Edition of the Pistons after having received the iF Product Design Award.

7:21 AM
Work has april fools jokes. ;p
They reset the icon on a tool we use to the icon for the tool before it (which is brilliant), and had a post about introducing clippy and other office assistants on our tools ;p

7:50 AM
@Bob Are these better than those Monoprice ones?

@MichaelFrank: monoprice' shipping outside the US is pretty nuts ;p

@JourneymanGeek it probably would not catch you off guard, knowing that nobody would resurrect clippy after 15 years and actually expect users to deal with it :-)

@Bob: wierd thing. Apparently the shirt clip is for IF and 2.1 only. so... I might have gotten a 2.1 with 2.0 eartips?

I had a tool tip appear on my screen, and it won't now disappear (the tool tip remains showing it's ugly message) ... I'm trying to find out how to solve it but no idea what to search for... I've seen this question on SU before but can't find it... Can any one suggest a search word/term?

@Bob: yup. XIaomi invoice and all. And the charger is definately genuine ;p

Bob
@JourneymanGeek Now you make me wonder if mine is fake -_-
but others apparently got the same thing as me, soooo
maybe the sg and cn stores are different?

maybe?

10:34 AM
Or its a newer model, or a varient?
Were there silver 2.0s?

Bob
@JourneymanGeek I think so
@JourneymanGeek 1.0, 2.0, 2.1 and 3.0 are the names users made up :P
there's no official versioning

3.0's the millet?

Bob
...millet?
> The remote is positioned on the cable for the right earphone, around 2 inches below the earphone itself.

hm.

I got a spare actually

Bob
@JourneymanGeek Spare?

10:42 AM
Got a clip from an old daiso single sided earpiece I bought to take apart ;p
And its plastic, so I feel better about it than the metal one ;p

I'm so jealous :(

@Bob the machine translations of the new model's web page calls it the millet :p

They're building a monopoly on dank memes!

I'm not super fond of the new domain names.

Bob
ya
lots of confusion incoming
that's also why I haven't registered a bob.randomtld yet :P
(most people probably wouldn't recognise it as a domain...)

lol
I have 3 domains at the moment, 2 .com, one .co.uk I own for nostalgia (bought it when I was in the UK, let it lapse, got it again ;p)

I have oliver.so and salzburg.so. Love 'em
When people ask me for my email, and I tell them it's oliver@salzburg.so, they occasionally don't get it

Anyone interested in a .press? :P

I just failed an audit for a reopen vote. I really don't get why I failed. Anyone here to help me with this?

I also got a .website and a .info for free \o/
@agtoever Do you have a link?

Sure: here it is.
The question is quite verbose and lacks proper formatting, sure. But I would regard it to be a valid question.
I even can understand the frustration of the OP expressed in the edit.

@agtoever I meant this link ;) superuser.com/review/reopen/360235

It looks like a pretty good quality question, but it is off topic here. Should be on Webapps in all honesty

12:05 PM
What @Mokubai said. It's off-topic even after the edit. That's why it wasn't reopened and that's why you failed the audit

Ok. I understand that, but that makes no sense with the current Close vote (Unclear what you're asking). Reopen and migrate would be the right course than.
And by the way, it seems that we (SU-ers) are inconsistent in voting Google search questions to the webapp if I look at this list of Q&A's.

Judging by the edit history its only a good question because of jakegould, until his edits we didn't even know where he was searching which made it nearly impossible to answer
Which is where the "unclear" close test came from, the original close votes were probably for unclear.

12:59 PM
Sounds reasonable. Thanks for looking into this with me.

1:31 PM
hii

1:50 PM
woof

Nice. How've you been @allquixotic?

2:05 PM
@Mokubai lotta stuff going on in life
business trip in a few weeks, kinda nervous about flying

Cool, where you off to?
I've flown only a handful of times. The helicopter was the worst.

eh, I'd prefer not to say where in a public, searchable, indexed channel like this ;p

No worries.
You concerned about the flight itself or the trip in general?

Both ;p

Flying ain't too bad. Take off and landing can be a bit shakey, but that's just a few seconds and the rest of the flight is just like being in a cramped rather crap cinema where you get to watch google maps or some film that was released a few years ago...

2:13 PM
I've flown in a total of two one-way trips (one round trip, but two separate aircraft)
I don't like the feeling of being completely at the mercy of others

Propeller plane or jet?

if the mechanic checked off that he lubricated the jackscrew but he didn't, I'm a gonner

well it's definitely going to be a two-leg trip, I know this already

At least you don't fly cargo ;p

2:14 PM
the first leg will be pretty far and the second leg will be into a tiny regional airport
I'm thinking both legs will be on modernish jets built at least in the early 90s (if not more recent)
the first leg is going to be in something that qualifies as a jumbo jet: MD-80, 737, etc
the second leg might be in a "regional jet"

(we fly something like once or twice a year. And recently at least one of those is in an ATR)

@allquixotic Me neither, but then I trust our car mechanic to actually replace the frobulator so that the wheels don't just fall off my car at 70mph so I have to trust the mechs at the airline too...

Bob
@allquixotic speaking of which, gitter now has free unlimited private rooms and history :)

@Mokubai yeah, but the penalty for crashing a car is much less often death, especially if you go 55-60mph instead of 70+
most airliner crashes result in nearly everyone on board dying, except for a few special circumstances where a crash might be survivable

@allquixotic 70mph is our standard motorway speed here. If you do 55 to 60 you'll end up annoying not only other drivers but probably the lorries too

Bob
2:17 PM
@allquixotic might be a turboprop... maybe a dash-8?

you're dealing with much more realized kinetic energy of the vehicle itself, and then the consequences of having the vehicle lose control will accelerate your body to terminal velocity, probably in an atmosphere too thin for you to breathe

Bob
I like dash-8s. For some reason, the turboprops cause less nausea than jets.

@Bob nah, I've already looked at the planes for all the carriers that land at the destination airport
the only props we use in the U.S. are for general aviation or charters
any kind of scheduled flight uses turbofans

Bob
o.O
I took a turboprop Sydney <=> Canberra
Says something about both the short distance and how few people there are :P

|Forgot that today is April 1 :|

Bob
2:19 PM
@allquixotic major crashes*

@Mokubai 55mph will definitely annoy people even though it's the legal limit; no one goes 55mph or less unless heavy traffic

Bob
there's many times more minor incidents with minor injuries if that

but if you go 70 you're a "speed demon" -- people do it; commonly, even; but at least half the people don't go quite that fast

Bob
planes tend not to drop out of the sky or CFIT
it's more turbulence, rough landings, etc

TIL I live in a country of speed demons. O.o

2:21 PM
just saying... the cheapest flight is looking like an MD-80 on the first leg and an Embraer Regional Jet (RJ) on the second leg
that goddamn T-tail of the MD-80 drives my engineering mind absolutely bonkers

I thought hitting 90 was being a speed demon

every time they operate the horizontal stabilizer, it sheds a tiny bit of metal from the jackscrew
and some mechanic has to check on it periodically and lubricate it
if it breaks, Alaska 261 (I think that's the right number) all over again

Bob
@allquixotic eww
deep stalls :(

exactly
the same airline has opted to gradually phase in replacements for their MD-80 over time, and the transition has begun, so I might get a newer airplane
but you know what the replacement will be?
the Boeing 717, which is an MD-80 with more modern avionics
but exactly the same wing configuration

@allquixotic you see, this kind of thing is where the phrase "ignorance is bliss" comes from.

2:24 PM
>_<
honestly, if I knew that I was flying out on a current-gen or NG 737, I would be able to sleep comfortably at night for the days leading up to the trip

Bob
@allquixotic I'm amazed there's no turboprops at all in the US
well, the USAF and CBP have some...

we haven't booked our travel yet, but the airline that flies 737s that I really respect (and has a fantastic safety record) only flies to an airport that's a 3 hour drive from our destination
@Bob NASA, NOAA, etc. have a lot of them, sure
but for scheduled commercial airliners (Delta, Southwest, American, etc.) you'll be hard-pressed to find even small regional flights that don't use turbofan based aircraft
if you go to priceline.com and ask for a flight, you're going on turbofans, 99.9%
doesn't matter from/to where
(within the US)

Bob
> Maryland-based Piedmont Airlines
heh.

hehe
except those are small fries compared to the big airlines
I guess I should refine my statement yet again to be more specific
as far as I am aware, all of the top 5 airlines based out of the US (including any of their direct subsidiaries that might operate under the umbrella of the larger brand) operate turbofans exclusively
'course, that may be in the process of changing
but right now it's pretty accurate

Bob
@allquixotic Apparently US Airways operates some Dash-8s.
Wait, no they don't.
Why's there a seat map for that, then? O_O

2:31 PM
> Regional airlines have, in the past, favored the 50-seat regional jets from Canada’s Bombardier and Brazil’s Embraer
those are the only ones I've seen
aside from that there are the standard Airbus and Boeing birds, all of which are modern high-bypass turbofan designs

I think most UK budget planes (in country) are probably turboprop. At least the in country flights I've been on were...

Bob
@allquixotic y'know, Dash-8 is Bombardier :P

depending on the popularity of the route, sometimes we even have short distance regional flights carried by a larger aircraft like a 737

Bob
I think the other major turboprop manufacturer was ATR?

I'm going over to Gitter to give it another look... will also be here
you should check out gitter.im @Mokubai
and give us your profile link so we can add you to our room

Bob
2:39 PM
the UI's a bit annoying, unfortunately :\
they seem to be trying to make it as clean as possible, which looks nice up front... but it becomes painful to find options you want

@allquixotic Does it work in android browsers or do I need an app?

@Mokubai works in android, or should

@DragonLord Because most people are clueless about the winning strategy.
Also, open a browser window/tab and run this:
@badp Open your browser console and enter setInterval(function() { if (!$("#egg-actions").hasClass("egg-has-voted") && $("#egg-action-restartdecline button").click().length) console.log("Declined restart at "+new Date()); }, 10000);Bergi 17 hours ago
Just leave it running in the background.
(Some people are pressing restart now and then; possible sabotage, leave that script running to prevent restarts without sitting there watching it.)

The right way to do it is to prioritize questions
This stabilizes the answer stat and makes it easier to build the other stats later

Bob
@DragonLord The strategy is lined out in the Arqade question I've linked several times.

I've already looked at that.

Bob
Resolve warnings, maximise questions, answers, quality, users in that order.
But I'm promoting the anti-restart script specifically to stop the random restart votes from succeeding.

...and before I even saw that, I knew that we needed to prioritize questions before the other stats.

Bob
5:58 PM
(SU's first attempt was stopped >350 days in by a restart that won the 50% against me twice)

@Boris_yo that can be not so fun. buy other peoples problems cheaper :-) you can only hope the return reasons were A) user wouldnt know how to solution simple issues B) dummy assembled , again user didnt know how to re-check assembly line misteaks C) the whole model line is lemon, check reviews before buying any one. D) it is still a problem, but it might not bother you.
If it falls into catergory C & D, then about a week after owning it you have read all over the web , that your not the only one with the problem you have.

I've got a sabotage attempt, someone is using flags on the StackEgg
...even though flags will not help here

@DragonLord i played it some, that thing is truely lammmmeeeoooo. people were dropping in and testing all the buttons. (like bob said, having to protect ehm from themselves) they are just seeing whats up, whats this doo.
If it is an april fools joke, the joke is on anybody playing it :-) when the coders (wining non stop) would just set the machine to do it.

Somebody succeeded in using up one of our flags
...managed to roll 4 on a d4

7:20 PM
same thing when i was there

Looks like two users are trying to sabotage it, issuing meaningless actions such as Flag or Answer (with four Answer hearts)

Supposedly it could not be sabatoged phht, it certannly is not worth worrying about.

Another flag attempt failed.
Another flag attempt with a 1/3 chance to succeed failed.

notice "cognitive science" and "productivity" are not even playing :-)

I'm starting to delay actions to align with one other good vote, even if that vote is suboptimal
Our last flag is gone.

7:39 PM
Won.
Have to go now.
I did use the Web Applications instance, which was completely idle, for internal testing.
If you suspect sabotage, team up against the hostile user and wait a bit before voting.

@CanadianLuke Not that i have seen, it is buzy out there though, so it could be missed. community should make up a fully assanine one, with many normal user question errors added to it. So i can tell it from the ones with just a lot :-)
