@Hennes Ghost got obsoleted for me , when they failed to keep up with the technology and lliterally nuked (the data on) a few disks for me. (i think it was 8.1)
@Hennes Even ghost had options that would/could cause it to go over every sector or not. Different methods for different things. Like if a person needed a full clone of the disk for recovery
@barlop i wonder what the "signal strength" is about that moment, because wireLess will negotiate a slower speed as it gets further away and begins to fail at the higher speeds
@barlop I have no clue of your technical competence, and I know far too many people where "problem with wireless" = "it happens when I use a device that happens to be connected over wifi", so apologies :)
I ran inssider.. When right next to the router windows 7 shows 5 lights. When moving away it's still 5 lights.. when moving further still it's 4 lights.
2.4GHz I think maybe my WLAN adaptor isn't seeing 5GHz but I think my router broadcasts both.
(At my apartment, I couldn't push a meaningful 2.4GHz wifi signal more than 10ft from the router due to massive amounts of interference. Signal strength was "Great!" though.)
Sometimes. It was hit or miss depending on the time of day. Other non-wifi 2.4GHz wireless stuff was also showing significant range issues (wireless headset, bluetooth, etc.)
I recently moved to a house instead of an apartment, and range issues are now not a problem. Same devices, same hardware, same devices, just different environment and now ranges are 4 times larger than they were before
(This is, of course, all anecdotal, since I didn't have any tools for actually measuring wifi interference in a scientific manner)
People were saying that turning on a microwave (using a similar frequency) will nuke the 2.4 wifi. . . . how many times were we told that stuff doesnt get out of the microwave :-)
@Psycogeek That assumes that the microwave is perfectly insulated, and they rarely are. The are usually well insulated, but I've seen my share of microwaves that leak a bit of energy
It only really nukes the 2.4ghz spectrum when I'm wearing my wireless headset and watching the popcorn pop though
If you could see radio waves, you could see where the signal was going, and the interfearances. But then again when your locked up in the mental ward for what seeing all that stuff would do to you, they probably wont have computers :-)
I am surprised the way computer problems are that computer technicians aren't known for mental illness and seeing psychologists over some of these computer issues!
I use a D-link adapter N only. it is long so it has the possibility for some antenna, and it has a blinkey light to see about how the data is flowing with it. I still want to put a real whole antenna on it and see what it could really do. Because all these things are 2 way , there is no reason other than convienience that the plug in adapters shouldnt have router size antennas.
@Boris_yo Better sign up quick, there is a savings countdown clock just like on the home shopping club (tv show with non-stop products infomertial sales) only 13 left (on that palllet)
@Boris_yo Sure but spammers get kicked out eventually, and then of course the price goes back to normal eventually.
I think someone else here like even the chat bot would know more about web hosting than i would. I just know if you become popular and have thousands apon thousands of visits, and get really serious about it, wherever you Started, you will not be staying with that host, or with that original smaller package you thought was enough.
" All coupons and discounts are only valid towards the initial purchase and do not affect the renewal or recurring price." also notes about no cancelling and re-signing up with another coupon.
@Boris_yo The Dreamhost Wordpress host is unlimited storage/bandwidth. Where as the cheapest VPS only has 30GB of SSD space.
Plus it sets EVERYTHING up for you automatically if you go with the Wordpress plan. With the VPS plan, you can still get WP, but you have to create the SQL databases and WP installs yourself.
Is there a quick way in bash to rename an extension to lower case? I need to do about 50 files that I FTP'd down, rename them from *.JPG to *.jpg to work... I tried mv *.{JPG,jpg}, but it tells me that there aren't folders
