if you look up "firewalls are routers" you'll see posts / webpages that say they all are or most are.

i'd have thought it's a separate function that maybe in a hardware firewall almost always comes with a router.

Once again, they are conceptually separate and are often (usually?) separate in an enterprise environment.

Consumer devices just chuck everything in one general-purpose box.

The job of a router is to route packets. Not to filter them.

I am running Windows 8. Suddenly one day I got an error that C:\ is low on disk space. After doing lot of analysis found that every minute 4-5 log files are being written into Temp folder.
