5:00 PM
it would be totally cool ;)

why not do it the way i'm doing it right now tho :P

oh its nice, but there's no listener port and there's no /commands to read emails ;P
oh fishtank
nice
:P
nm
i once wrote something similiar using mIRC scripting that allowed me to chat on irc / check / compose email .. and it even had its own firewall acl access list.
pretty fun little script
only wrote it because of the firewall @ the school, and i wanted to be able to communicate with my friends while in class.
over telnet

@GuitarShoeDave we aren't allowed laptops in class
Or anywhere in school, for that matter
Not even allowed to get phones

my school had supplied machines in the labs, and classrooms.

Lucky :/

5:07 PM
that sucks

Yeah it does
I usually manage to sneak my laptop in with the excuse of 'robotics'...
But I don't think I will be able to do that now

24 hours ago, by Rahul2001
My mom confiscated my laptop for a month... :/

:P
I'll probably get it back in a week
hopefully
Oh, I got a new watch today...

Might get the lenovo tab s8
or the mi pad
Mi pad's resolution is kinda making me want it :S
But it's 11k

AMD Polaris GPU technology.
> AMD’s latest architecture integrates what AMD calls a Primative Discard Accelerator. True to its name, the job of the discard accelerator is to remove (cull) triangles that are too small to be used, and to do so early enough in the rendering pipeline that the rest of the GPU is spared from having to deal with these unnecessary triangles. > ...the consequence of it is it brings PCs to their knees when it’s unnecessary. And if you look at Crysis 2 in particular, you see that they’re tessellating water that’s not visible to millions of triangles every frame, and they’re tessellating blocks of concrete – essentially large rectangular objects – and generating millions of triangles per frame which are useless.
Great to see that AMD now has a way to deal with this.

Why on earth would you generate polygons that do absolutely nothing to enhance detail?
Conclusion: RX 480 is not a card for today's most demanding gamers (and that includes @allq). However, it succeeds in delivering excellent all-round performance at a price the mainstream market can easily afford. AMD has succeeded in making a high-quality gaming experience more affordable.
It performs at or above the level of the GeForce GTX 970 in most games.

5:57 PM
@GuitarShoeDave it's not meant to read them, just check if there is any :P
unless I'm gonna start flashing the fishtank with some kinda encoding so I can 'see' the email
I'm so tired today
and so work is suffering sigh
I have my driving test again tomrrow
starting to pap it D:
the fact I don't get home til 10:30 at night doesn't help either :(

6:21 PM
Taste comparing coffee. I feel like such a snob.

6:32 PM
I don't normally drink hot drinks, and most coffee I've tasted was terrible (I don't know if it was bad coffee).
Tho I did recently have a nice double expresso at a little cafe in a park
It normally almost tastes ... muddy?

6:44 PM
I guess muddy is not q bad description for coffee or even chocolate

7:05 PM
yeah, i guess good chocolate sometimes has that taste/feel too
my brain hurts D:
today been v. long day
had hospital appointment in the morning
then working the late shift, so i've hardly stopped all day :/

7:20 PM
@qwertyuiop There is a "save to drive" button on gmail attachments.

@ThatBrazilianGuy yet, i can't see my google photos, in my gdrive, although they share the same storage quota :/
(I'm meant to be able to, the option is ticked, but it shows about 3 of my 40,000+ photos)

asdfghjkl
Hi

@qwertyuiop ... 'match' rating.... is already fabicated? ;/
they fabricated their fabrications!

7:51 PM
@ThatBrazilianGuy But I don't want the attachments
@djsmiley2k Is not!

8:02 PM
@qwertyuiop No?

Sorry to be a pain, I'm trying to set up a web site and need to enter the IP but it's IPv6 and the structure is confusing. According to the provider the IP is 2001:4ba0:cafe:0c54:0000:0000:0000:0001 /128 but when I add it as a DNS i'm told it's not valid
The fact it has white space in suggests tghat only part of that long string is valid but I'm not sure how to tell which is

It's the left part

dont put the /128 in
that's subnet notation
2001:4ba0:cafe:0c54:0000:0000:0000:0001

You can also abbreviate that to 2001:4ba0:cafe:c54::1

ty @BenN I couldn't remmeber exactly how that worked ;)

8:04 PM
I did try 2001:4ba0:cafe:c54::1
Sadly, same issue :(

Huh my laptop is rejecting i.stack.imgur.com's ssl cert

@djsmiley2k, did that, I'm told it can't update

Your DNS tool might not like the shorthand notation, try the original without the slash part

Same issue. It says "unable to add DNS record" which is a pretty vague error :(

You're adding an AAAA record rather than a plain A record, yes?

8:07 PM
no... An A record
Right, I didn't realise the record type is different

IIRC you have to add an AAAA record for IPv6

A records are IPv4

Oh, silly me

You can scream "aaaaaaa!" while you're doing it if it helps

I'm not sure how I didn't spot that, I honestly did search :S

8:08 PM
I don't think they can be long enough, unless the address was like ::::::1 or something :D

oh I am indeed
:)
THANK YOU both @BenN
and thank you @djsmiley2k
It's accepted it, so hopefuly I can get this site finished. Thanks both

:)

\o/
it's nearly my home time yey

@MyDaftQuestions: ipv6.he.net
Learn ipv6 and get a cert
;)

lol
I still hate IPv6 with a vengeance

8:17 PM
ha

Yippee, doing a circle around Glasgow because the tunnel's closed
My boss is probably taking this same train tomorrow incidentally

I think i got that cert
the problem is lack of usage
without day to day usage, it takes a long time for stuff to sink in deep

I actively avoid usage of IPv6
I've gone to lengths to recompile my router's kernel with IPv6 support stripped.

well
my router runs gentoo, i built it
I didn't originally build ipv6 in, not sure I ever added it actually

Install Drupal on local machine for local dev. Hit obstacle. Bang head on keyboard. Install Drupal on a local Docker containter. Hit obstacle. Bang head on keyboard. Install Drupal using php -S. Hit obstacle. Bang head on keyboard.
Rinse. Repeat.

8:30 PM
sounds fun.
and it's home time \o/

...check StackOverflow, see there's an already answered question. It works. .___.

@ThatBrazilianGuy Give up installing Drupal. Install Wordpress. Don't hit obstacle. Bang head on keyboard anyway, because you installed Wordpress.

@qwertyuiop You know I am part of a local WordPress Meetup group and have presented a talk on a national WordCamp, right?
@djsmiley2k Every step ranged from 50min+ (when using docker + sqlite, fast as a slug, yay!) to 3~5min, because Drupal installs and activate every module during the install. +_+'
@qwertyuiop The 3 most popular open source CMS's are Drupal, WP and Joomla. You're not actually suggesting we use Joomla, right?

@ThatBrazilianGuy Lol

Because we might or might not have literally hundreds of active Joomla installs. And some of those hypothetical Joomla instances might or might not be Joomla 1.5 and those might or might not be compromised on a daily/weekly basis.

8:36 PM
Oh hey that's what Oracle Taleo is

Gee, thankfully it's not my problem all hypothetical.

<sits back and is glad he doesn't have to deal with CMS's>

Thankfully I've not had to deal with a compromised Drupal install for a few months now.

Drupal is quite powerful and flexible, but it's so complex... I feel lost most of the time.
!!noidea

8:38 PM
...all the way

Oh, behave! :)

But at least it's not plone.

Joomla = Garbage, WP = Semi Garbage, Drupal = Best of the three.
im sure you can agree with me on that right @ThatBrazilianGuy ?

@GuitarShoeDave I don't feel I possess the skills to opinate.

8:43 PM
However, the WP community is much larger and active. And there is waaaay more WP documentation, tutorials, articles, ebooks...

Comment on this then: Joomla = USA Soccer Team, WP=Germany Soccer Team, Drupal = BRAZILLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLLL

With Drupal it's always "I have no idea what I'm doing" and the documentation is usually dozens of mixed forum threads on drupal.org
When I was working with WP, people asked me "we need this done" then I was "OMG WTF what do I dooooo" then a little research and maybe I'd write some code, but things usually made sense.
@GuitarShoeDave I don't know Joomla, I don't know soccer, I don't know the USA soccer team, and 2014 never happened. ;p

9:25 PM
facebook streaming

Let's all make a dent in the first-post reviews superuser.com/review/first-posts/stats. I've been doing 40/day. Most people aren't doing any :(

That's my next queue to visit on the reviewing show

@BenN :)

Speaking of the reviewing show, it's surprisingly difficult to review posts and talk about it at the same time
Gaming LP's are much easier

@BenN I can imagine. Why don't you just do the reviews instead of talking about them? :p

9:36 PM
For people's entertainment, to help new reviewers, and give post authors insight into what goes on in review

What are you hoping to achieve with your "show"?
Ah. You answered before I asked :)

I should register on Psychics.SE and start earning some rep ;)

10:00 PM
Hey @Bob you about?

Huh, it made me stop reviewing First Posts after 20

You need at least 500 reputation to review first posts. :/

10:22 PM
@BenN If you wait a while and try again it may allow more. Or it may be tied to the number of outstanding items in the queue (which could now be smaller since I did my 40)
@djsmiley2k Clearly my request was for people who have the reviewing privilege ... ;)

Arrive in another city... phone bricks itself... hotel wifi is literally unusable
I mean mayyybe it's a sign, but...
FFS!
The ONE day this year that I have the MOST important shit to do

@qwertyuiop How are you posting here then? :)

@DavidPostill There's a goddamn good reason I carry a backup phone -_-
It's a broken, barely working piece of crap, but it's saved my ass many times.
Now I have to wait two hours to download a new firmware for my phone over my other phone :-/ Two hours I don't have spare.
Also the top I was going to wear has a giant hole in it, and I ripped half the buttons off my second option trying it on
Could anything else go more wrong?
Oh yeah, I have no alarm for my interview tomorrow because my the backup phone crashes whenever anything tries to play audio.

@qwertyuiop I hope it all works out for you ...
@qwertyuiop The hotel should be able to provide a wake up call...

@DavidPostill Yeah, they do. Though I have never ever used that before in my life, and could never ever see why anyone would.
But I guess this is the one time I need it!
Urgh. Taleo is a CMS but also a cloud based talent acquisition platform? Whaaa?

Bob
10:42 PM
@qwertyuiop am now

@Bob `PHEW
Few questions... 1) What firmware is your phone running, and when was your last update?
2) More importantly how did you update - did you have to flash a full 1.8GB system image or just some patch/OTA?
3) Did that un-root automagically it or did you manually unroot it first?
Either someone/something tried to rootkit my phone, or some major software cockup occured. In any case my Galaxy S7's decided to brick itself. :-/

Bob
11:03 PM
@qwertyuiop APDN, May security patch
@qwertyuiop I've always done the Odin flash followed by CF auto root
@qwertyuiop I just flashed straight over the rooted image
There was an issue with SELinux policy updates breaking root but re-rooting fixes that
@qwertyuiop O.O
Still got bootloader access?

@Bob Yeah. Bootloader works, though just comes up with a message "Custom binary blocked by FRP lock" and turns off
Can still get to recovery and flash mode. But a 1.8GB download at 2.5Mbps is slowwwww

Bob

11:20 PM
@Bob Ouch, that hurts my eyes
But seriously I'm supposed to be preparing for this 6-hour interview tomorrow and my phone just randomly dies -_-

Bob
@qwertyuiop apparently that comes up after a factory reset? weird
Pick up cheap temp phone and deal with this shit tomorrow?

@Bob It's 20 past midnight, not sure where to pick up a cheap phone

Bob
Did you have the factory reset on unlock failure thing enabled?

@Bob No.
I sure hope it didn't factory reset. I want my data.
I was just in the middle of browsing something, screen froze, phone rebooted to a bootloader screen with the FRP message and turned off :-/

Bob
Wow

11:26 PM
Office 2016 just installed... and Explorer promptly crashed \o/
The installer also took the liberty of pinning five of its applications to my taskbar -_-

Bob
Some variant of this old thing? mulliner.org/security/telstop
Google remote reset?

@BenN Nooo, that's a feature. Explorer needs to restart to make sure Office is well and truly integrated.
