7:01 PM
Well, I've been using a different Windows for a while, but now I want to go back to the original OEM one. The different version doesn't allow me to upgrade to win 10.
The only thing I could try was to install the original Windows and hope it activates during the installation which it should to my understanding.
The thing is, with the new harddisk I don't have the recovery files, so I would need to install using an iso from Microsoft. And they want a key to give me the download. :P

libreplanet.org/wiki/Save_WiFi get on it folks go go go

@William'MindWorX'Mariager it should be noted that many people got activation of win10 after waiting TIME, some it was 24-48 hours during the height of the installs. So if you think you did things correct, and figure that it is on the same machine and all, it could be just waiting is enough.

@Psycogeek Well, I doubt my different version would get activated.

Dammit, no more socketed mobile parts?
All the new Skylake mobile CPUs are in BGA!

@DragonLord and no sign of Iris Pro GT4e, either...
what're they waiting for? Christmas?

7:07 PM
No sign of type-M socketed parts. There are type-H soldered laptop CPUs.
One of the new type-H parts is unlocked for overclocking (i7-6820HK).
Improving laptop cooling systems are making this viable.

@William'MindWorX'Mariager i would also doubt that. i would also doubt that time had anything to do with an OEM install activating based on the hardware, or a ID already existing in something like a recovery partition.
@William'MindWorX'Mariager a key to get an ISo from MS? that is strange, as all the ISOs are the same. So thier idea would be to find a key stuck on your OEm machine, and use it. Mine would be to find it on the freaking disk i bought (because i write it on the disk) , and some people would just find one on the web :-)

Yeah, I'd find it on the disk if I got one. :P This OEM stuff isn't meant to be tech-friendly. It's all automagic.

@William'MindWorX'Mariager for like $10 the OEMs will usually provide disks. but that doesnt help now does it.

It doesn't no. :P

7:14 PM
Somone said many of (like dell) keys are all the same? and of course some person will have posted that on the web too.

I'll try and figure something out. Thanks @Psycogeek. :)

@allquixotic is there a way to stop it??
I mean something like ThunderClap campaign or smtg like that

"The FCC has proposed rules (ET Docket No. 15-170) that will require device makers with WiFi and other Radio Frequency (RF) devices to cryptographically lock down the RF-controlling software on those devices so as to prevent users from installing the software of their choice. . . . implement a low level DRM system that prevents users from re-flashing or modifying the operating system and/or firmware on those devices. " so they still have to be updatable?

Jet
DRM - Digital Rights Management, or the evil within https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Digital_rights_management ; https://libreplanet.org/wiki/Save_WiFi#How_this_is_bad_for_individuals_and_disrupts_the_market
They force-put it on everything, even on FireFox! They say it's for managing digital rights... but we all know that it's a white backdoor for managing other rights.

Yea that is probably why my ISP is so set on me updating my modem to DocSIS 3, the agencies working for the NSA , require me to "get with the times" and get a modem they can more easily update over the web.

7:23 PM
@Jet not sure

the freaking money that is involved in making things "accessable, yet secured" that means so they can hack it, but the other contries cant, is in the trillions of dollers.

@Psycogeek There is no such thing as a backdoor that can't be used by adversaries, regardless of how much money you spend on it.

I say that instead they are just creating scenarios were the entire contry can be overtaken in a war, cyber or no.

Jet
The way of security patches:
whitehat hackers -> patch -> agency -> use some time -> company releases patch -> whitehat hacker's device.

I'd prefer:
whitehat hacker -> patch -> whitehat hacker's device.

Sure if there was any such thing as a white hat hacker, more like grey. Oh we dont do that, although we did once , but dont do it, but lets show you how i did.

7:32 PM
Any polish people here, per chance?

Hey kids dont try this at home, but what you do is mix up some aluminum dust with some potassium nitrate, and this (youtube) shows what happens. remember we are professionals. the fact that we mixed this up in the garage next to the gasoline and paint, only slightly clear of the gas water heater, and accidentally blew a hole in moms bedroom should be ignored.

Jet
Heh, inner part of white hat is always dark.
Because light doesn't get inside when you wear it :)

I agree, one needs dark powers to be a white hat hacker. It's kinda using dark for white.
But all the good and bad things are created from white and black, positive and negative, electron and proton and so on.
So the white hackers are not exclusion)

white hat, i know how to get into hillaries e-mail but I didnt, I told her that it was vulnerable (and was arrested). Greyhat, I got into hillaries e-mail but just looked around and left. GreyerHat, i got into hillaries e-mail, downloaded the whole database, but only share it with my friends on facebook. BlackHat, I deleted the bitches e-mails.

Blackest hat, (although claimed to be white) I showed every 14 year old hacker on the web how to break into everyone elses e-mails, then provided a program to make it easy.

Jet
If I were a hacker, in place of you, I would not enter; but I would not report it either.
Leave it for a black day. No one knows, maybe you will need it tomorrow,
for doing a black job for white purposes (and to save the world? joke;)

yup one must always be prepared for the enevitable zombie apocalypse.

@DragonLord Power attracts the corruptible.

8:07 PM
Good bye people!
Was nice to talk with you all @allquixotic , @Psycogeek @DragonLord (and others) :)
Have a good night/day.

have fun (dont get caught)

2 hours later…
9:46 PM
"Hi, I need to fix your computer, is now a good time?" "Sure, what do I need to do?" "Just log off please." "Okay!" Windows is shutting down
The joys of remote support.

10:04 PM
Gonna make one of these! :D

10:37 PM
That can actually be done without the little hard to see stick holding up the ball

@Asmyldof How?

Electromagnetism!
May need to alter the pose a bit though

eh... don't particularly want to use an expensive light system.

To get balance on hands + head
Bah, humbug
I'll do it myself then
Is that dragonball?
Not really up to toons post Cow&Chicken

@Asmyldof Yep, it is.
I was thinking about using these... but eh.
We'll see how it goes.

10:44 PM
The one in the Pic is clearly just a powered lamp
whether LED or otherwise
if LED still at least 0.5W / 50lumen, but probably >= 2W / 180lumen
The amount of shadow-cast and level of colour reproduction is a dead giveaway. If that were battery powered it's by out in a minute
it'd be **

@Asmyldof Or they used a shitty camera. :P

No
A 50mW LED cannot get you that amount of colour reproduction, even in a very, very expensive camera. Not even if it's the most expensive CREE or OSRAM

@Asmyldof Pointing a camera directly at any bulb is going to make the bulb look way brighter than it really is if you don't/can't adjust the exposure.

@MichaelFrank An important side note here is that I'm an embedded engineer with 20yr experimental experience with lighting using LED and CCFL, of which 8 years for photography
Not that it should matter, but to get that amount of colour on the puppet, you need a certain lens opening and an amount of light
With a tiny night light type of LED you'd need an F1.2 lens with a very expensive camera and even then the wash-out across the distance of the puppet would be immense
The give-away is the fact that you can clearly make out all the colours across all of the puppet
As well as clear and sharp shadoes
shadows*

It's a good thing I'll just be using one of these to hold a bulb and pretend like it's floating!

10:52 PM
Anyway, you can do it with any LED, but this picture looks so awesome and fantastic because there a good amount of power to the light
there's*
I should be to bed. 1AM here
Typing is starting to get borked

And yea, I'm definitely not planning on it being that cool looking all the time. Maybe just when I show it off to people in a dark room. :)

Don't forget to get a (thick) matte glass bulb

Electromagnatism, could also get you inductive power going enough to light an led with no strings. an interesting thing I saw only recent , was using multiple magnets , large and small and some of them reversed, to get a push pull air glide going with premenent magents. I was wondering why that method was not applied 101 other ways in many other places.

Makes it look more like a fireball than a highly tranclucent one\

@Asmyldof Was thinking of a frosty blue one...
I'll let you know how it goes in a couple weeks when all the parts arrive.

10:54 PM
@Psycogeek That was pertty much what I was aiming at, it's an old trick now
@MichaelFrank You can coat the lamp with white glass paint and a clear varnish to protect it, if it is a LED type, in the case that the internal LED point is still too sharp
Won't be perfect, but it'll help
If it doesn't cover well (on plastic that depends on paint type) you can still wipe off the paint with some alcohol/IPA usually if you haven't varnished it yet

Or better coat the GLobe only in Phosphors :-) use Blue leds to light it up .

glass paint doesn't always work on bulbs that get hot
@Psycogeek If you build the bulb yourself, sure, but still check the directionality of the light
LEDs often shine in a pattern forward, which could make it worse, by lighting p a bright circle on the phosphors
Sanding paper sometimes helps for that though
(don't always have to spend more than a few cents ;-) )
If the globe is a finished lamp with a plastic globe, and you have more than one, you can even just try sanding the globe on one, first with coarse grain, then with fine grain, to make it a sort of milky glass.
Anyway
Goopy Night

this one is really good

@MichaelFrank miniature plasma ball :-0

@Psycogeek I was looking into that actually.

11:09 PM
amazon.com/Generic-Infinity-Tunnel/dp/B000PT1C1W/… muticolor mirror infinity ball :-)
todays plasma balls are weak, they need to have about 4 times the power jammed in them .

Q: Is HTML5 vibrate feature a security vulnerability?

Question OverflowWhile surfing a news website on my mobile, I receive a virus infection alert warning that triggers my phone to vibrate incessantly. The alert looks like the following: I didn't expect my phone to vibrate and the alert is able to tell me the model of my phone (first panel) and the OS system (se...

I am not sure if anyone there actuall answered the question?
Not that it is a vulnerablity , but that a web page could initiate a vibrate ?
Or what idiot would think that simple web pages and browsers Should have any control of hardware in that manner?
