I actually have a wireless bridge connecting my room to the main router atm cause I was too lazy to run a cable.

Ideal scenario is to have a linux box acting as a router/gateway, and let it do filtering and outside accessible services, and just switches.

Yeah, I had that, pfsense on an old laptop. I found it to be too much maintenance

Plus, OpenWRT supports router, switch, and wireless functionality so I found it better to just standardise on Openwrt for all network devices.

@JourneymanGeek Hah, back when I was at a boarding school we had ethernet cables running around the outside between most of our windows. The building almost looked like a spiders web from the outside.

(My neighbourhood consists of standard 70s style apartment government blocks, but the top floors are either 2 apartments joined together or split level ones. This neighbourhood used to be port authority quarters)

But if somebody says something in comment, allowing their stupidity to be etched into a question for eternity, then i'm going to correct them properly - in this case, by humouring them by taking a bunch of pics. I did reply to their comment, suggesting (in a polite way 'cos they like politeness in comments), that it was pointless.. and i'm sure

@R.Doto he'll be just as clueless before, as after. Because I already described all the relevant options and screens.

He's a 36K repper so somebody with that rep would normally have a good chance of having a clue.. but i'd still bet that my pics won't add anything. Nevertheless maybe he'll think about it more now with pics. I wouldn't underestimate what somebody with 36K rep might come up with! Maybe my pics will inspire him, but i'm sure they won't add any useful info!

@qasdfdsaq For portability at home. Best case is to have 2 "wirelessly chained" speakers that also have 3.5mm input to connect from HDTV. Mine does not have wireless capabilities so that's the reason for 3.5mm input. However there's an option of buying bluetooth transmitter that you connect to HDTV. That's when I will be able to have wireless connection.

Yeah my portable set is an ancient Creative pair

For me anything below about £60 is too small to get any real soundstage out of it. Especially when you add the ~50% premium for portability/bluetooth/etc.
