A bit late to the party, it seems; congrats a bunch, @Danu!
Jul 25, 2017 20:25
Hello, @TedShifrin!
Jun 29, 2017 20:31
They don't (and neither do I.)
Jun 29, 2017 20:30
I wouldn't know. My DG-friends are all afraid that the world will slowly turn them into physicists.
Jun 29, 2017 20:29
Like a proper ex-physicist :)
Jun 29, 2017 20:26
What was your thesis on?
Jun 29, 2017 20:24
Good. Bonn is very highly competitive, I imagine.
Jun 29, 2017 20:24
Ahh, then it makes sense. Which other places are you applying to?
Jun 29, 2017 20:23
Oh. IIRC you started with physics and changed to math, right?
Jun 29, 2017 20:22
Or am I getting old?
Jun 29, 2017 20:22
Wait, @Danu, didn't you just enter your msc?
Jan 31, 2017 18:17
Hi @TedShifrin!
Jan 28, 2017 18:28
@TedShifrin Quite well. Been stuck on the same problem for a few days now which is always a tad depressing.
Jan 28, 2017 18:27
Hi @TedShifrin. How are you?
Jan 17, 2017 19:31
Hellu @TedShifrin
Jan 15, 2017 18:08
Hellu @TedShifrin. How's life?
Jan 15, 2017 18:08
Hi @Astyx
Jan 14, 2017 20:32
Wow, this is the first time I've heard the word "Lindelof" since my first topology course.
Dec 26, 2016 20:48
Wait I don't. That's not nice.
Dec 26, 2016 20:48
Ohh we all have burning logs on our pictures. That's nice.
Dec 17, 2016 19:54
Having my first lazy day in far too long. Finished my exams and teaching duties yesterday.
Dec 17, 2016 19:52
Hellu @TedShifrin. What's up?
Dec 8, 2016 21:41
@TedShifrin Yeah, a chatroom for nonresearch level maths might not be the best idea for math students.
Dec 8, 2016 21:39
Quite well. Using the fact that I just finished one exam to procrastinate practicing for the next (and more important) one.
Dec 8, 2016 21:37
How are you?
Dec 8, 2016 21:37
Hellu @TedShifrin!
Nov 27, 2016 18:40
@Danu Yeey. I'll be working through part of Huybrechts book on Fourier-Mukai transforms next semester.
Nov 27, 2016 18:38
Yup. How's life, @TedShifrin and @Danu?
Nov 27, 2016 18:36
Hellu!
Nov 23, 2016 08:22
Hellu.
Nov 15, 2016 19:51
@MikeMiller Tried your question using silly Hatcher chap4-tricks. Didn't work.
Nov 11, 2016 16:40
@TobiasKildetoft mathoverflow.net/questions/254453/… This was a good question imo.
Nov 5, 2016 20:55
@Danu We're still just kids so we shouldn't worry about "research level". Glad it went well
Nov 5, 2016 20:53
Oh, congrats on your seminar, @Danu. What did you talk about?
Nov 5, 2016 20:52
@BalarkaSen Eh, it's probably fine. I've never used connected sums in my life so I don't consider myself a qualified judge.
Nov 5, 2016 20:48
Now I'm going to google "albeit" and check if I used it correctly.
Nov 5, 2016 20:48
(Albeit a bad one.)
Nov 5, 2016 20:48
Yesh, it was a joke.
Nov 5, 2016 20:47
Isn't the formal definition of connected sum "cut holes and mash em together?"
Oct 31, 2016 19:55
Haha, I suppose.
Oct 31, 2016 19:05
Did anyone trustworthy confirm Atiyah's proof?
Oct 28, 2016 17:45
It is indeed.
Oct 28, 2016 17:32
Haha, I don't think that's too unusual. Glad you're doing well.
Oct 28, 2016 17:30
@MikeMiller Did your idea end up working?
Oct 26, 2016 19:24
Why is the algebra part of algebraic geometry so much easier than the geometry one?
Oct 22, 2016 18:19
Yes, you have made no argument as to why that should be true.
Oct 22, 2016 18:12
(I've heard) they're not that scary once you get used to them, as most things in math.

Are there non-affine schemes for which the structure sheaf generates the derived category of quasi-coherent sheaves?
Nov 11, 2016 20:36
This is the Eilenberg-Watts theorem. Watts' paper from 1960 should be readily available online.
