You're using a lot of reflection. Reflection is an advanced topic that it's early to be diving into if you're just now learning that Kotlin isn't Java, and you probably don't need for what you're doing. I sometimes see Javascript programmers trying to use it when they are just beginning with a strongly-typed language, but reflection should generally be avoided. You mostly see it in libraries for generating code or parsing JSON/XML/etc into classes. — Tenfour04 20 secs ago

Looks like something that could be achieved with a Microsoft Access form. Also, there is a dedicated Stack Exchange website for recommendations: Software Recommendations. — Sander 54 secs ago

Nonsense. In the original query it would be obvious. I just wasted hours tracking down a similar bug due to a missing & on a reference parameter, so the compiler happily created a new local instance and returned a pointer to it. C++ programmers just expect to waste time on this sort of nonsense. — Tuntable 1 min ago

SQL is commonly used by programmers, not the end-users. Software developers build apps with a GUI to present data to the user. Behind the scenes, the developer has written code in a language such as Java with SQL code nested within to interact with the database. So the end-user is not aware of the database. — Basil Bourque 45 secs ago

"(newbie question) ... with the usage of scanf()..." STOP. Don't go down that well worn road of pitfalls all new C programmers fall into. Do it right. "with the usage of fgets() and a sufficiently sized buffer, I will read all input and use sscanf() to parse values from the buffer for each member of the struct ..."David C. Rankin 35 secs ago

Welcome to Stack Overflow. Please read Open Letter to Students with Homework Problems. You can't just dump your problem statement here and expect us to do it for you. It's also a good idea to take the tour, read about what's on-topic in the help center, and How to Ask. — Chris 47 secs ago

One place I worked had a large and complex database, and a whole team to manage it. They provided a set of stored procedures for the rest of us programmers to use when accessing the database. We were specifically prohibited from using SQL primitives at any time. The idea was to protect database integrity against rogue PHP code. It worked pretty well for that, but we sometimes had to be creative with the SPs we used for some jobs since getting a new SP written could take months. — Tangentially Perpendicular 1 min ago

I’m voting to close this question because it really should be on Code Review as the code in question works, albeit not very well. SO isn't really about improving working code. — Ortund 8 secs ago
Jan 22, 2021 12:07
I can appreciate your frustration, but I think you've got the wrong site here. For improving working code, Code Review is a better option than SO which is focused more on fixing stuff that doesn't work. I'd suggest code review as a better avenue for this one. — Ortund 31 secs ago
