General on- and off-site discussion for dba.stackexchange.com....

@HannahVernon Thanks for the suggestion but the link is dead (or wrong).
Feb 15 22:20
Thanks for the help
Feb 15 22:15
@ErikReasonableRatesDarling dba.stackexchange.com/q/345307/329821 here it is. I have seen other similar questions on this site about similar questions so I think it is ok.
Feb 15 20:04
Mmmmh it looks like I have rubberducked out a doubt or two. I'd still like someone to tell me if I'm right but I don't even know how to tag the question. Just the RDBMS?
Feb 15 18:05
Yeah, I'm familiar with rubberducking ;)
Feb 15 17:43
However, I'll write it. Worst thing that happens it'll get migrated (or closed and I'll still have the question ready for somewhere else).
Feb 15 17:41
I'm afraid my question will be way less technical than that, and more about how to properly separate data into tables given how I intend to use that data, would that still be a good question for dba.SE?
Feb 15 17:33
Given that you people here work in an adjacent field, I hope you might know where that is - and I also hope you're kind enough to tell me!
Feb 15 17:31
Hello! I'm not an expert database administrator at all - I'm a newbie database creator and user at most, and I was wondering which SE site would be best for me to ask questions about what's the best way to structure a pet project database of mine (I have ideas, I just don't know if I'm overcomplicating things or forgetting to include some important things).

Dec 26, 2023 18:50
Good job!
Dec 26, 2023 18:36
Oh, damn. I hope I never did that, because if I happened to click to vote and the vote didn't register I'd be tempted to try again. Has this been fixed?
Dec 26, 2023 18:34
Really?
Dec 26, 2023 18:30
@ThomasMarkov I shouldn't blame caching, I should blame my mouse sending very fast sequences of click events. ;)
Jul 29, 2023 12:29
Yes I know, but I'm not pestering you ;)
Jul 29, 2023 12:20
@Trish Yeah, I know. I think I got a PF silver badge way before I started playing it...
Jul 29, 2023 12:20
At least this is better than being a PF 1e expert and having me pestering you for advice XD
Jul 29, 2023 12:19
@Trish Now you're officially a D&D 5e expert, whether you want it or not, and people will pester you (and only you) for D&D 5e advice. (I'm joking, I'm joking...)
Jul 29, 2023 10:31
Congrats on your silver badge, I guess?
Jul 29, 2023 09:59
I think I will need to provide good indications of what these NPCs should do tactically in order to provide a clear framework of what a good answer looks like, but it's basically "use your knowledge to suggest the best and most synergistic options, for maybe I don't know about them."
Would talking about party composition help?
Is there anything else I should include in my question?
Jul 29, 2023 09:56
On the contrary, I have noticed several pretty well received "how do I build my character to do this?" questions here where experienced answerers analyzed the problems pretty well and even got to write a couple of example builds.
So, I was thinking maybe I could try to mix the two. Surely other people will benefit from having ready encounters or NPCs, right?
Jul 29, 2023 09:53
I have had trouble convincing people to talk at lenght about NPC builds or encounter compositions for D&D 3.5e and Pathfinder 1e - I usually get a little feedback but then everybody in chat mediums starts drifting away from the build and I never get to finalize anything as a group effort. I guess others don't have this problem because they are good at finalizing those builds themselves but I'm not confident enough in my building skills.
Jul 29, 2023 09:50
As the old meme says, I don't always log in to the chat, but when I do it's to think aloud about a main site Question.
Jul 29, 2023 09:49
Hello everyone!
Jul 12, 2023 20:44
@Laurel it was spoiler
Jul 12, 2023 20:32
oooh so that's why there was a fake link with the same content
Jul 12, 2023 18:58
@Axoren see the meta post in the starred list
Jul 12, 2023 18:56
Well, I'm going to play an adventure for D&D 3.5e called spoiler that has at least one (expanding) spoiler. That either sucks for at least one ploayer os it is completely irrelevant, I guess (Well, items are affected too but so are enemies). I'm looking for advice on how to manage character creation.
Jul 12, 2023 18:44
Damn, how could I forget.
Jul 12, 2023 18:29
Neither
Jul 12, 2023 18:29
It doesn't work. ||test?||
Jul 12, 2023 18:29
>! Well, test
Jul 12, 2023 18:29
I'm going to DM a D&D adventure and I was wtriting a question about it but there's no way it's not opinion based so I thought I might ask here to see if I'm lucky, but this is searchable and I don't want to accidentally spoiler something to any search engine user.
Jul 12, 2023 18:27
I can't remember, is there a way to write spoilers in chat? A new message with >! at the beginning?
Jun 16, 2023 19:41
Well I'd say no since it's not an answer to my initial question but it ends up being much more. I wa slooking for adventures related to a campaign (same places, NPCs, themes, etc.) and what I found was that (apart from the three prologue adventures I knew about) someone made large changes to three other in order to craft a bigger prologue. So it's not official adventures as I would have asked about, but they do the job I needed.
Jun 16, 2023 19:24
Oh well... it looks like the Paizo forums already had an answer, all tidely packed in a single thread.
Jun 16, 2023 19:09
@V2Blast I hope the list is bounded, and it has parameters, but it might cast a bit of a wide net. I'll post the question, or at least I'll start writing it, hoping that by the end of writing I still think it's bounded enough.
Jun 16, 2023 18:45
Would asking for a list of related adventures to a specific setting-related adventure be a shopping list, thus forbidden?
Apr 11, 2023 21:25
@Adeptus Whooops. I mixed the two.
Apr 7, 2023 23:52
So I wouldn't use it as a synonym
Apr 7, 2023 23:52
Also you don't get two levels intertwined at the price of one, you get two levels. Like multiclassing and taking the different classes on alternating levels
Apr 7, 2023 23:50
Dual classing, AFAIK, is not precisely gestalt, it's more split your XP in two pools, buy levels in two different classes from those two pools (levels in different classes costed a different amount of XP then so they weren't always parallel)
Apr 6, 2023 17:10
But all of this is how I interpret his actions, or may vague recollection of one thing he said once
Apr 6, 2023 17:09
He used to play paladins and clerics, played a one-trick-pony (i.e. just blasting) wizard and had fun, despises polymorphing and mind controlling enemies to make them infight from safety.
Apr 6, 2023 17:08
@Adeptus specifially, finds PF1e characters too complex. The games plays almost the same, but there's way moer different things a PF1e class can do unless it's fighter. Panache points. Grit points. Rage powers. Brawler feats. He's more "I enter rage, I full attack" and likes playing martials, lately, because he doesn't need to keep track of spell slots or readying a new spell list each adventuring day.
Apr 5, 2023 23:03
Ups and downs and it's 1 AM so I'm going to bed now
Apr 5, 2023 23:02
@Glazius Player said "why does every class gets something every level? I just want to take feats and be done with it" (also liked clerics not being proficient in heavy armor but there's ways to get that back)
Apr 5, 2023 23:01
@JoelHarmon I don't like it. Too much GM work in adjudicating rulings IMO

After reading that, I think it's bettere suited for Law. I'll ask there, the worst it can happen is that it gets closed or migrated.
May 6, 2023 09:45
Thanks!
May 6, 2023 09:35
Hello, It's my first time posting in Politics and I would like to know if the question I'd like to write is better suited to Politics, maybe Law or neither. It's about whether a specific U.S. law has been approved, is being approved, is being proposed or something that can be read about in any official venue and where to find it
