This is fudging unbelievable!

guys any clue about this: from xorg's logs I can see it recognises the screens properly, but if I try to 'start x' or 'sudo service lightdm start' the system crashes.

guys quick question: which one depends on which: lightdm on xserver or the other way?

is there any key or something I could press to open the grub menu during bootup?
