hmmm
is that Intel specific?
I think yes @JorgeCastro
the bug doesn't appear to be intel specific
I generalized it anyway
I didn't consider it as a bug.
there's a bug linked to it from the answer
A duplicate (i asked)
I thought, they were intentionally removing this to save space..
I admit, this should be a bug
there are some dupe to this question

keep voting them as dupes to get them on there
yeah..i'm doing this
little confused with this one askubuntu.com/q/116038/61218
Hmm quick question
> -rw-r--r-- 1 www-data ftpuser 1162 2011-02-02 16:20 brokenfile.php
does this means that ftpuser has write access ?
is www-data group name?
no a username
so group name is ftpuser?
16:32
hmm no ftpuser is another user, both are supposed to have access to that folder
BBT
Good Night
so I chown'ed it horribly wrong ...
good night @AmithKK
A group is supposed to be present there ?
@HackToHell i think, the owner has rw right there
16:33
@AnwarShah who is the owner ?
you can check the owner with stat %a filename
it's www-data
how do I give the folder access rw to ftpuser too ?
chmod?
how exactly ..
add the user to www-data's group and give that group rw right
16:38
Will this work chmod -R go+w dir
It should, i think
yep it works :) :) thanks @AnwarShah
careful of what u doing... giving wrong permission to /var/www will make all your file accessable

Sukhvinder SinghWant to record from external source such as audio cassette to the computer,what software is the best,is kazam any good.

yeah I think, but not because it is about hacking: he does not specifically induct that he will hack sites or do anything illegal
@JorgeCastro dam man, those fingers are fast
@BrunoPereira they are not fingers @JorgeCastro is speculated to be a robot of sorts...
@Joshua That has numerous times been proven a wrong assumption
@BrunoPereira nobody has provided me with substantial evidence to prove otherwise...
17:32
He likes tacos, metal music and beer, <strike>no machine(...)</strike>

Dam, if I was a bot I would also like those things!

Asking vacation time from work, fingers crossed
UDS needs to come to Chicago!
(or Indianapolis would be fine I suppose)
Let's start the Bring-A-Future-UDS-To-Canada campaign :P
What is that?
@JorgeCastro I am checking my planning, won't be there Monday, but I can pop in Tuesday and Thursday. Vacation days are asked, its just a short drive, lets hope its approved :)
17:49
\o/
looks Tuesday is Juju and sorts, fits well!
How much does going to UDS cost? (UDS itself - travel and all that stuff)
Like is there a registration fee?
no, free
apply for sponsorship :D
@JorgeCastro cool

17:55
@Joshua room for the night is around 150 euros at the recommended hotel
we could sort kind of room sharing for a night or two if it's a problem

Why is this question greyed out for me?
what question?
I can still select it
18:11
it has tag which you add in your ignore list
check your list
I have no ignore tag list - unless it's created by default.
Yeah - you're right. Some bot put on my ignored list.
I bet because I never answer sound questions :D
oh..yes
you only ask sound questions, which do not have any answers
lol
How to I remove that tag from my ignore list?
There only is an add button :/
there will be a x button in the ignore list
on the tag body
sweet - thank you.
Very subtle.
I need huge buttons at my age ;)
18:16
agreed on "Very subtle."
I knew
do not agree on "I need huge buttons at my age ;)"
No that would be nothing agreeable.
I see why you have (removed) here ;)

Hi @daslinkard
@daslinkard @MichaelMrozek hi
I'm going to throw this out there.....has anyone had any issue with Thunderbird crashing immediately after opening and if so, how did you fix it?
<-- Evolutionist
i don't use it
18:24
TY @Takkat & @AnwarShah
but you can try removing it's config folders
@daslinkard Reset settings on your home folder? Just move the .mozilla folder
@BrunoPereira what do you mean to just move the .mozilla folder?
press <ctrl-h> while you are in your home
and: mv > rm because it can be undone.
18:26
i mean, home directory
well here is the opposite
just opened it. it is not closing
i had to use xkill
yuk - that's bad.
It could damage your IMAP on the server - unlikely but...
I didn't even configure it
Do you think that the IMAP setting could be causing the crash?
hello guys
@NlightNFotis hi
18:31
Could someone help me try to fix something on my computer?
@daslinkard it shouldn't be.
@daslinkard have you tried running it from the terminal to actually have a look for errors?
I get an invalid borders issue
@NlightNFotis How are you?
BBT
good night

A: Further question on Intel graphics driver

ManubLook ubuntu support the intel graphics. if u using Nvidia card so u have to update ur Nvidia driver. Look up ur top panel one of applet is named additional driver. In here u can update ur Nvidia driver. u also find t from system--Administration--additional driver.

@daslinkard wassup

18:34
u like iBuntu? If u like I show u :)
@daslinkard thunderbird -safe-mode starts or crashes?
@daslinkard I am cursing the last update I did on my system
@BrunoPereira It works fine
@daslinkard check your addons and recent changes
18:36
is there any key or something I could press to open the grub menu during bootup?
@NlightNFotis shift, keep it pressed
@BrunoPereira What would you suggest as far as the best things to look for?
@BrunoPereira Correction on Safe Mode....
I still get the border error
@daslinkard remove an addon, restart to see if it runs, restore if that was not the issue
guys quick question: which one depends on which: lightdm on xserver or the other way?
**Invalid borders specified for theme pixmap
18:38
@daslinkard remove themes?
How so?
@daslinkard sec, I am booting
@NlightNFotis lightdm depends on X - X is the father of all GUI
K, Thank you!
@NlightNFotis but you don't need an Xsession to run for the Xserver to be there... your Xsession loads later, is that what you mean?

@BrunoPereira Actually I haven't :P

@Joshua sec
Okay.
guys any clue about this: from xorg's logs I can see it recognises the screens properly, but if I try to 'start x' or 'sudo service lightdm start' the system crashes.
What...
What exactly is that?
too close to trash...
@GeorgeEdison what is what?
18:47
That picture.
@GeorgeEdison 404 here
what picture? all I see is "image not found"
Ah, okay.
I'll fix it then.
lol
There... now tell me what it is.
18:49
Oh that looks like me when I let my hair grow out...
A picture of a human being?
It apparently represents G+.
avatar? google avatar?
(No, I don't get it either.)
Okay, let me explain.
What do you mean it represents g+?
18:50
I got an email from G+ (a reminder for an event).
And that was the picture beside the 'no-reply' email address.
LOL - Don't reply or I'll answer you back!

In fact it's not a lens - it starts Amazon in FF
@daslinkard just finished booting and taking a shot, sec

@NlightNFotis you can still edit that...
I wish there was a way to reorder the lenses/icons
You still can.
recent update couldn't allow the xorg to start
It tormented me for 3 hours
can you believe it?
3 HOURS
of reading logs and trying to calm my nerves
@Joshua there is...
and all it took to fix it was
18:57
@AbrahamVanHelpsing oh?
remove amd drivers
@NlightNFotis ATI or NVidia?
@Takkat ati
yeah it was jinx almost you said amd when I hit send ;)
if they do load alphabetically, you might be able to rename the folders that house lenses to 00-application.lens 10-music.lens 20-files.lens. if it works let me know and i'll add in some details and flesh it out as an answer. — AbrahamVanHelpsing Sep 24 at 8:27
18:58
Time to remove the drivers I guess.
I really don't believe this
I did remove them
@Takkat do you think I should try reinstall them?
@AbrahamVanHelpsing oh well that isn't user friendly....
if i put it in lenstoggle it'll just get re-implemented in a release or two...no real point in doing it
@NlightNFotis Hard to say. Once broken is broken. Try with radeon for the time being.
18:59
@penreturn did the guest adiditions install?
i did...
They didn't work with me. No errors all fine but they don't work (4.2.0)
@Takkat this guy inspired me to do so: ubuntuforums.org/showthread.php?t=1666650
@Takkat same goes to me
@NlightNFotis worth a try then...
19:03
@Takkat no, when I say "to do so" i mean to remove the ati drivers to see if it works
<-- had evil experience with fglrx in the past that made him keep his finger off that closed source driver
I am of little help with ATI drivers
<-- nvidia :D
@penreturn I have had mostly positive experiences with nvidia drivers
in complete contrast with at drivers, that is
thing is that ati drivers worked for some time
@NlightNFotis ask linus how he feels about nvidia...
without them the system stalled quite regularly
19:05
Linus won't talk to me... something about being a stalker or some nonsense like that...
@AbrahamVanHelpsing I've seen the vid
ahahahaha
@Joshua lol
@AbrahamVanHelpsing man you remind me of Aking2012
i wonder if the name change has anything to do with slaying vampires...
when you have to explain the joke...it's not funny
@AbrahamVanHelpsing I got it man don't worry
@AbrahamVanHelpsing wassup bro? I almost didn't recognise you after the name change.
@Joshua You remind me of this: xkcd.com/163
19:07
@NlightNFotis not a lot, i left the profile and icon the same on purpose
@NlightNFotis lol

@EliahKagan the only time i had trouble with that was when it didn't magically append pdf to the end and saved it as somefile instead of somefile.pdf. still worked fine for me...so
