TIL Frank is the king of Scotland
Aug 27, 2014 21:54
@Frank the likelyhood of that being him is better than the likelyhood of both nexuses being destroyed at the same time :)
Aug 27, 2014 21:52
mission accomplished
Aug 27, 2014 21:52
Yep and now the top voted is by the president of riot!
Aug 27, 2014 21:50
I think that question had 8 answers at one point
Aug 27, 2014 19:24
@KevinvanderVelden prove it :)
Aug 27, 2014 19:22
@StrixVaria ok
Aug 27, 2014 19:22
@StrixVaria is "we don't know" really a valid answer?
Aug 27, 2014 19:21
@KevinvanderVelden thats bs its a design pattern you can do it in any language
Aug 27, 2014 19:21
@KevinvanderVelden events
Aug 27, 2014 19:19
@Arperum exactly so there is no way for us as outside players to know how they implemented it
Aug 27, 2014 19:18
@StrixVaria yes more than likely that
Aug 27, 2014 19:18
but what i'm saying is that we dont know how its implemented
Aug 27, 2014 19:17
@JasonBerkan they probably dont worry about it because the chance of it happening are slim to none
Aug 27, 2014 19:16
is more likely than having some massive single threaded server that waits for everything to occur in a single file line
Aug 27, 2014 19:16
if(bluenexusdetroytime == purplenexusdestroytime) bluesidewin=true;
Aug 27, 2014 19:15
i am
Aug 27, 2014 19:14
Its much simpler to just have a check that says if they're the same make one side the winner
Aug 27, 2014 19:14
so when i hit something the server waits til it processes my hit before it lets anyone else do anything?
Aug 27, 2014 19:12
but i'm making an assumption on implementation
Aug 27, 2014 19:11
those times can be the same
Aug 27, 2014 19:11
i'm saying there is probably a blue side nexus destroy time and a purpleside nexus destroy time that are both settable on the main game thread by other event threads
Aug 27, 2014 19:10
thats not how programming works
Aug 27, 2014 19:10
you're assuming there's some single process that is going through the game input line by line
Aug 27, 2014 19:09
@Rapitor that requires knowledge of how its programmed
Aug 27, 2014 19:07
Typically questions that require inside knowledge of how games are programmed arent allowed
Aug 27, 2014 19:07
@Rapitor the answers are all opinion based because none of them are league developers
Aug 27, 2014 19:04
gaming.stackexchange.com/q/182306/18146 End the answering vtc as opinion based/needing developer knowledge
Aug 22, 2014 15:21
Aug 22, 2014 15:20
It seems that information would change too frequently and be opinion based
Aug 22, 2014 15:20
yea
Aug 22, 2014 15:19
league in particular
Aug 22, 2014 15:19
Whats our stance on item build questions?
Aug 14, 2014 20:30
@Powerlord this would happen when the community deems an answer better than the accepted one and would be to alert them that the one they accepted may not be the best.
Aug 14, 2014 20:26
@AshleyNunn new answers are great and im glad they send notifications, but not all answers are new and most new answers have 0 votes :) so as an asker i cant measure there merits because if i knew the best answer i wouldnt have asked the question
Aug 14, 2014 20:23
its not the accept its the asker having the best information provided by the se community
Aug 14, 2014 20:23
Either way this is a non-issue for people experienced with se, mostly just an issue for new ppl
Aug 14, 2014 20:22
So if the increase delay is out, is there any way a notification to the asker could be sent out when the top answer is no longer the accepted answer and they should maybe relook at the question?
Aug 14, 2014 20:14
can the community give an opinion in 15 mins? I'm mostly saying that the community can help shift the better answers to the top by upvotes if there is a longer time before accept (this is again mostly for more complex answers)
Aug 14, 2014 20:12
@AshleyNunn why do we upvote answers?
Aug 14, 2014 20:11
@AshleyNunn i think you misunderstood what i was curious about, of course the asker should have the ability to accept whatever they want
Aug 14, 2014 20:10
Anyway @Frank thanks for the information/link was helpful
Aug 14, 2014 20:09
@MBraedley of course but the person with the most immediate need of accurate info is generally the asker :D
Aug 14, 2014 20:07
@Frank touche but it still just irks me sometimes when answers that have some flawed info are accepted and the asker leaves with that flawed info thinking its correct. Oh well guess thats a personal problem heh
Aug 14, 2014 20:06
so theres less incentive to answer it
Aug 14, 2014 20:05
@Frank my primary goal is helping the asker of the question, but in alot of cases once an answer is accepted the asker may not bother coming back to the question
Aug 14, 2014 20:04
I'm sure dedicated answerers would still answer accepted answers, but theres less incentive
Aug 14, 2014 20:03
@Frank I understand that it just seems like for more complex answers the community would benefit more from increasing the time before accept
Aug 14, 2014 20:02
@Frank but the asker may not have access to the best answers in just 15 mins! :)
Aug 14, 2014 20:00
@Frank ah thanks, has there been any talk on extending it to a day or making it a bit longer? Ive run into a couple scenarios where i see an answer thats only partially correct and could have a much better answer but the asker has accepted it already
