No. Self-study. I am not a native speaker, so I read these books when I can to improve.

My book has all sorts of stupid questions :/
Oct 13, 2014 17:44
Hmm...
Oct 13, 2014 17:38
It could be. But "To beg the question" doesn't mean "to take for granted", does it?
Oct 13, 2014 17:35
Hello. Did anyone of you come across the phrase — "To be the question" (Idioms & Phrases)? The answer in my book suggests that it means "to take for granted". But there's no explanation or examples. I couldn't find anything useful from googling.
May 19, 2014 17:46
Ah, hmm... makes sense
May 19, 2014 17:45
right
May 19, 2014 17:45
:) Probably wrong usage of the word. It's India.
May 19, 2014 17:44
@KitFox That's what I hear when I dial the number
May 19, 2014 17:43
@KitFox Otherwise, is the usage wrong?
May 19, 2014 17:43
Ah, ok
May 19, 2014 17:42
@KitFox Actually a title. Turned it into a question for clarity's sake
May 19, 2014 17:42
I have a faint memory of hearing something like that before. Isn't that common/correct usage?
May 19, 2014 17:41
@KitFox yes, that's what I meant
May 19, 2014 17:34
Hi, can someone please tell me if this is a correct usage of "on line": How to get customer care executive on line after calling railway enquiry number 139?
May 14, 2014 16:46
:)
May 14, 2014 16:46
Sure, here you go... $1000
May 14, 2014 16:45
@JasperLoy Aha, ok. Thank you!

Hi, can somebody please tell me if I framed this sentence correctly? Required documents for inter-state travel by private vehicle (e.g. car) in India. It's a headline.

Mar 7, 2014 20:14

Mar 7, 2014 20:12
@MrHen Yes. And I was looking for a more in-depth, authentic answer, not "in actual, real-world practice" answer.
Mar 7, 2014 20:10
what do you think? Is it on-topic here?
Mar 7, 2014 20:09
@MrHen This is the question: ell.stackexchange.com/q/18521/4867
Mar 7, 2014 20:09
Ok, will do that, thanks!

Hello, if I posted a question on ell.SE and later realized that it's better suited for english.SE, can I repost it here? (Even if I can't delete the question there?)

@tchrist Thanks. I'll stop using Google
Mar 2, 2014 19:20

Mar 2, 2014 19:19
@Cerberus So in general context all flesh can be referred to as "meat", correct?
Mar 2, 2014 19:17

Mar 2, 2014 19:17
Google gives the meaning at the top
Mar 2, 2014 19:17
@tchrist I meant "define meat"
Mar 2, 2014 19:16
@tchrist thanks!
Mar 2, 2014 19:16
@tchrist Google dic. to blame
Mar 2, 2014 19:10
Hello, is there a word that describes both chicken and meat? (considering meat is flesh of a mammal, by definition)
Mar 2, 2014 13:28
Ah, ok. Thank you @skullpatrol
