Q: 3G Dongle only connects for a few seconds

Terence EdenHow can I see what's causing my 3G dongle to disconnect from the Internet? I'm using a Huawei K3565 USB 3G dongle on my Raspberry Pi. Using wvdial and sakis3g I can connect to my current provider (GiffGaff) - but only for a few seconds. For example, I can ping 3 - 4 times, or download approx 2...

The robot is actually a lot older than the Pi: thebox.myzen.co.uk/Hardware/Glockenspiel.html
Jul 4, 2012 11:51
Just noticed that glockenspiel-playing robot on the foundation blog

RS weren't when I ordered mine (I bought a blank one from them)

Is anyone actually selling preloaded SD cards yet?
Jul 4, 2012 11:34
(because Jon Skeet was not a beta tester and declined to be a moderator)
Jul 4, 2012 11:33
@Jivings: btw you are definitely not the Jon Skeet of the RasPi :-)
Jul 4, 2012 11:31
They don't need to be a mod on the destination site
Jul 4, 2012 11:31
@AlexChamberlain: the source.
Jul 4, 2012 11:31
@Jivings: I'll be very surprised if you are not appointed as a mod
Jul 4, 2012 11:30
(I've already VTCed those two for other reasons)

Alex ChamberlainI have just ordered my Raspberry Pi, and I want to prepare my SD card. How do I install an OS image onto an SD card?

I like this one... Some earlier questions could be merged into it:

It's not poaching if it's already on the SE network
Jul 4, 2012 11:27
I think we only need to avoid poaching from the official forum...

Q: Gnustep on Raspberry pi fails 'make check'

JoshRagemI've been trying to compile gnustep-base on my raspberry pi (running arch) and I have ./configure working without errors. It checks a thousand things, most of which mean nothing to me, so I have a hard time seeing if something is going wrong. After compile, I ran the make check and got 31 'dashed...

Q: ssh prompts for password despite .ssh/authorized_keys

RadekI issued ssh username@db2workgoup -n "echocat ~/.ssh/id_dsa.pub>> ~/.ssh/authorized_keys" and then checked that the key was stored in authorized_keys file. But ssh is still asking for the password. I used the same for other servers within our company without any troubles. Someone can help...

@SteveRobillard: As I said, I'm happy to follow a chain of up to 3 links, as long as the links are still live and lead to the answer (which is usually true of SE sites)

Q: How to make password-less login work

TshepangI generated a key and copied it to my target: ssh-keygen ssh-copy-id username@hostname I left the the location of the key as default and did not set any passphrase. For a small while after that, I was able to ssh username@hostname without being prompted for a password, and then it stopped wor...

How about:
Jul 3, 2012 22:54
yes, off-topic. I haven't searched but am willing to bet there is a similar question on SU and/or U+L
Jul 3, 2012 22:53
@Steve: Its only annoying if you don't get the answer at the end
Jul 3, 2012 17:04
Should that also be tagged or ?

I don't like meetup.com. I signed up to find out about the SO meetups and got loads of spam from it
Jul 3, 2012 08:41
I'm in the same city as @Jivings :-)
Jul 3, 2012 08:39
@Jivings, but the asker still has the ability to accept an answer, even on CW questions (and in this case that would be a conflict of interest.)
Jul 3, 2012 08:37
As I said, I am not objecting to self-nomination
Jul 3, 2012 08:31
I see there are no 3rd-party nominations. I'm not sure why not (if I wanted to be a pro-tem mod I would rather have someone else nominate me than nominate myself)
Jul 3, 2012 08:29
@Manishearth: possibly not
Jul 3, 2012 08:29
+ if someone asked you to do both, why didn't that person nominate you?
Jul 3, 2012 08:27
@Jivings: Nothing wrong with self-nomination, but the combination reminds me of some spammers in the early days of SO who would ask a question and immediately answer their own question with a recommendation for their company's product.

Q: Allow 'improve' for Tag Wiki Edit Suggestions

Lance RobertsI've been approving or rejecting Tag Wiki Excerpt Edit Suggestions, but some of them are close and I'd like to just tweak them. Jun 19, 2012 14:32
@dunsmoreb I'm not sure about that reddit link
Jun 19, 2012 14:28
@Jivings, why not favourite the question instead of using a comment as a bookmark?
