@MikeQ Or they got lucky and could die if they try again...

This would only need to apply in cases of significant ambiguous splitting however. For example, it'd be sufficient to list "USS Enterprise D (Star Trek)" only under B4, since a significant portion of the identifiable ship is contained within that space.
Feb 12, 2019 22:36
Also, not sure how useful it is to specify what other squares a character appears in within the listing of the main square, since presumably finding them in in the list and looking at the picture would already show you where they overlap. The reverse (listing them in all grids they make a significant appearance in) functions better for lookup, even if it is a bit redundant. So for example, "Data (Star Trek)" would be listed in both G6 and H6.

^ Double line break after the initial grid category, or else it will just run on the same line.

@Stormblessed I keep it generic if they're found across multiple related works (Borg (Star Trek)), but specific if they're found in a single work (Ghost (Star Wars: Rebels))
Feb 12, 2019 17:25
@PeterM We've had very similar community wikis for character identification posters that we've kept within a single answer, so this follows precedent (and we don't have to worry about things like answer ordering, it's all sequential). It'll become easier to manage this way once the hectic edit phase dies down.
Feb 12, 2019 17:25
To editors: as a courtesy, please do not overwrite others' submissions when you submit an edit. It can get pretty hectic as characters are being rapidly added, but when you do this, the previous copy is overwritten and lost. Rather, focus on adding a single entry at a time to make overall edit turnaround time faster and not lose your work. I had to re-add Q three times because people kept saving their edits over mine.

I appreciate GOT and ASOIAF from afar, but have neither watched nor read.

"We must fight... to run away" - basically the thought that came to mind the entire movie

The plot was spread out so much between different threads

^ exactly

Wasn't a big fan of TFA though, and at least enjoyed this more than that. RO was amazing though
Dec 18, 2017 18:30
As a movie, I enjoyed it, though I can certainly accept alot of the critical reception it's gotten. As a Star Wars movie... hmm.
Dec 18, 2017 18:28
Star Wars is the Big Deal this weekend though, so kinda makes sense, unfortunate as it is.

¿hola?
Jan 11, 2016 19:48
Thanks
Jan 11, 2016 19:47
Any suggestions for changes that might have it not be seen as duplicate?
Jan 11, 2016 19:47
My observation of the old one is that it's much more complicated, and only has 2 valid answers (neither of which would be competitive on the new challenge, which is meant to be much smaller)
Jan 11, 2016 19:45
Apparently you guys were just talking about that base conversion challenge hehe... exactly why I stopped in

Sep 14, 2015 21:02
especially since there's no good way around String.fromCharCode()
Sep 14, 2015 21:02
impressed JS can score so well
Sep 14, 2015 21:02
thanks for your help! really trimmed that down
Sep 14, 2015 21:01
I think I'll let it be for now haha
Sep 14, 2015 21:01
yeah, that's the best permutation that I could find, and much better than I expected

given the other optimizations we've made as way, I may be able to run it through the different modulo permutations again and find one lower than 53 was

same thing, but with -- instead of =t-1 gets close
Sep 14, 2015 20:34
yeah
Sep 14, 2015 20:34
Yeah, missing the space " " on the end
Sep 14, 2015 20:32
to do

t=96
while(t=t-1)

gives me a missing " "
Sep 14, 2015 20:31
unless I'm missing something
Sep 14, 2015 20:31
I can either do (for 2172)

t=96
while(t=t-1)

or (for 2071)

t=95
while(t--)
Sep 14, 2015 20:21
Down another 40 to 2104. Almost there!
Sep 14, 2015 20:21
@UndefinedFunction Wow, how did I not think of that! You just shaved 56 points off of my best, bringing it to 2144 now :D Still trying to get it below 2000 though...
Sep 14, 2015 20:21
@UndefinedFunction It seems not. Didn't focus too hard on optimizing, since I was working on an alternative method that ended up shorter anyways. Thanks! =)
