can anyone tell me why christianity.stackexchange.com/q/103496/22319 isn't off topic/opinion based?

Sep 12, 2024 12:03
sorry it wasn't you, it was another user who posted 4 articles
Sep 12, 2024 11:58
I'm not saying you won't find/look at anti-faith sources, you have posted you are learning about faith X and then post 4-5 anti-X articles instead of 4-5 articles from faith X

if later I say the same thing in the open, again doesn't mean earlier I didn't have form, just that I wasn't visible
Sep 12, 2024 11:56
if I hide behind a wall and say something, it doesn't mean I don't have form, just that I'm not visible
Sep 12, 2024 11:55
@Wyrsa it doesn't state he doesn't have form, nor does 1 John state one has to have form. My mention is purely wording
Sep 12, 2024 10:52
@Wyrsa I'm fine with probing of LDS origins/beliefs. But if you are basing your knowledge of a sect/denomination off of articles that belittle, misrepresent, or attack its beliefs it doesn't look good from my point of view. If I want to understand catholicism, protestantism, etc go and ask them. Get a basis before diving in, because there is negative info out there, better to first get understanding from the sect in question
Sep 12, 2024 10:49
@Wyrsa the wording is important. In the first vision it is This is My Beloved Son. compare with Matt 3:17 (link in answer). Yes Satan has found linguistic loopholes, but how are you discerning that this is the case here, and not other places?

just because your/mainstream understanding of the bible doesn't line up with LDS doesn't mean it is twisting anything. This site is about learning about other faiths not disparaging one/minority because it doesn't align with your views. The same logic you are applying to the LDS (twisting scripture) can be applied to your own understanding. Accept that different people have different interpretation of scripture. Yes you believe your interpretation is correct, but so do other faiths.

I don't think an anti-mormon article is too relevant. If you want to talk about twisting words there you have it. IMO the fruits question (from the article) is a result generally of people saying what good has the LDS church done (if there is no good its a malicious lie), and the LDS church answers, and now its 'bad' because we're talking about it.

I'll try to find time to get a better explanation
Sep 6, 2024 13:07
I don't have extensive time to cross compare at the moment
Sep 6, 2024 13:06
from LDS perspective
Sep 6, 2024 13:06
I'm trying to explain the Moroni differences
Sep 6, 2024 13:04
from Galatians the explanation:
> In thee shall all nations be blessed.
>
>18 For if the inheritance be of the law, it is no more of promise: but God gave it to Abraham by promise.
>
>29 And if ye be Christ’s, then are ye Abraham’s seed, and heirs according to the promise.
Sep 6, 2024 13:03
my wording wasn't the best
Sep 6, 2024 13:03
explaining the promise
Sep 6, 2024 13:03
not inserting
Sep 6, 2024 13:03
no
Sep 6, 2024 13:02
Galatians*
Sep 6, 2024 13:02
the promises is reference to Gal 3:5,8,18,29
Sep 6, 2024 13:01
Malachi 4:
>And he shall turn the heart of the fathers to the children, and the heart of the children to their fathers, lest I come and smite the earth with a curse.
Sep 6, 2024 13:00
from JSH
>And he shall plant in the hearts of the children the promises made to the fathers, and the hearts of the children shall turn to their fathers. If it were not so, the whole earth would be utterly wasted at his coming.
Sep 6, 2024 13:00
the first part to me is the reason
Sep 6, 2024 13:00
the end part is the same
Sep 6, 2024 12:57
more detail, still vaguely same message
Sep 6, 2024 12:57
if I say I'm going to lunch at McDs because I have a gift card
Sep 6, 2024 12:57
that is more detailed, even when not mentioned initially
Sep 6, 2024 12:57
if I say I'm going to lunch at McDs
Sep 6, 2024 12:57
if I say I'm going to lunch it has detail
Sep 6, 2024 12:56
like i mentioned in my answer
Sep 6, 2024 12:56
to me its adding detail
Sep 6, 2024 12:56
no JST or anything
Sep 6, 2024 12:56
I've seen verses 'supporting' trinity, that to me don't
Sep 6, 2024 12:56
to me its not
Sep 6, 2024 12:56
to you its a major shift
Sep 6, 2024 12:55
I feel like we have different interpretation of scriptures
Sep 6, 2024 12:55
I disagree
Sep 6, 2024 12:54
but not here
Sep 6, 2024 12:54
it does sometimes
Sep 6, 2024 12:54
i don't think the symbolism you imply applies here
Sep 6, 2024 12:54
it says fathers
Sep 6, 2024 12:50
or any reference to children
Sep 6, 2024 12:50
what verse 6, I'm not seeing that in OP
Sep 6, 2024 12:48
I dont' think the meaning drastically changed, from my reading he is clarifying who is being burned. Not a drastic change, it is a change, but not as big as you seem to make it, IMO
Sep 6, 2024 12:46
christianity.stackexchange.com/a/103116/22319 may be right, this could be an entire new revelation/prophesy separate from the one in Malachi
Sep 6, 2024 12:42
Luke and Isaiah. They are the same meaning, nothing was changed is not exactly true, otherwise it would be same words. why add/change words if its the same?
Sep 6, 2024 12:40
I disagree with answers all the time, even when well answered
