My favorite was the 5th one, Midnight Tides.

The third one is widely regarded as the best, but for me it didn't really stand out.

Yeah, definitely not a series I'd recommend binging, especially if you're not into it.

I've read too much "good" stuff in the meantime. Malazan, Realm of the Elderlings, working on Book of the New Sun now.

I liked Rhythm of War well enough, though, so maybe it's just this cast.

I reread them in the leadup to this because I had forgotten pretty much everything and they were all meh.

@Wipqozn Yeah if I lived close I'd probably go in, just to have some peace and quiet.

Currently reading The Lost Metal and I'm just not into it. I'm not sure if I've grown as a reader or Sanderson has grown (in a way I don't like) as a writer or some combination of both.

I bought all of Robert Jackson Bennett's books from before Divine Cities and have read all but 1 now. They are also good.

That did decrease my reading to nearly 0 for like 2 years, though. Just started getting back into it this summer.

My commute was like 90 minutes each way so this was a pretty natural decision as soon as it was possible.

I've been using stare/fling/ducky/whomp which is 20 different letters in 4 words.

It can be annoying if you have an attachment to that name, but the easy thing is to just change your name. It should be pretty simple for a Steam game like that.

Elden Ring released 6 hours earlier on PC than on console.

It was a neat moment because I could feel my knowledge of what "*" did shift from theoretical to actual understanding.

It was during that transitional phase where I'd "read about" all the important bits but I didn't "know" them yet.

I was pretty new to the language at the time (ruby).

I was just missing a * in a method definition.

@Fredy31 Once I left work having no idea what was broken in a piece of code. On the commute home I had an aha moment, and the next day I fixed it first try by adding a single character.

I think not all of them are from other players.

I still have quite a lot of pokemon research to do.

I don't know what's going on where you are, but I got to a point where I couldn't evolve a pokemon I wanted to evolve for story reasons so I finished the story just so I could evolve it.

Not sure if I have to tutor it.

My Rhyperior is like level 65 and still doesn't know EQ.

Arceus definitely mixed up some learnsets.

I finished the story the other day, working on getting all pokemon to research level 10 and getting a living dex now.

There's quite a bit of customization after you pick a class.

Just having a shortcut to grinding, even if grinding is still an option, is excellent.

I haven't really looked into the new EV system. I'm aware that you can level up stats intentionally with items, but is there any natural growth?

When I was a kid, Golem was one of my favorite Pokemon, but at some point I essentially just stopped caring at all about trade evolutions and discounted any line that used them.

Another nice thing is that you can fill your pokedex with 1 copy of the game and no interaction with other players.

I'm going to enjoy this game for what it is now, and hope that future pokemon games continue this trend.
