He had us sit in on a meeting with the guy who is supposedly teaching him how to build a cube, and he asked us "What is the specific query for getting all the records from the table?"
Note the aggregate bandwidth: Netflix is 24% of the total internet, BitTorrent is 17&, HTTP (i.e. normal websites) 17%, Youtube and other flash video 13%, followed by several other protocols, but also Facebook has its own line because it's so popular.
@O0oO0oOO0ooO sorry, you'll need to back that number up with some kind of citation. some source which makes that claim. I just don't believe it.
Anyway if you claim that it's unfair that people spend so much time on web scaling and not so much time on game scaling, that's just economics. only game devs need game scaling. everyone needs web scaling.
that hand reconstruction surgery? wouldn't happen unless you complained about 'oh woe is me, my hand was crushed under a high power steel- annealing machine. waah wash waah'
:9635702 offended? no. But I think you are waving numbers around and asking questions based on those numbers and your numbers don't match what other sources are reporting. So I am asking for clarification.
usually I don't have to deal with it because we do everything in Java, which is a million times more sensible than php. And more portable than C#. but we just bought a new chat system for our website and it's php and we have to now set up all this crap just to host it.
and we have to modify it to integrate it.
ugh.
I have a hard time wrapping my head around the notion that someone would make a stateless application server.
I caught some cold that has progressed into a coughing and losing my voice thing, conveniently just at the time when I had to travel and come back and host family and all sorts of stuff.
My youngest brother-in-law graduated college on Saturday in the rain and we had to get up at godawfulearlyo'clock to get there from our hotel and get in. I don't really know how I've been going all weekend except that I think I have some altered perception of time when I know I need to photograph a really really long event and process and share all the photos.
Now we have candids and group photos of all like 10 family members so that'll satisfy the grandmas a bit.
Yeah I tried it out in a store once, and it worked surprisingly well, but still, I don't care for the 3D. It's the games that must be da awesome sauce, not the gimmicks.
Though I think I could become friends with Ocarina of Time in 3D.
I wouldn't want to exchange it for any of that Call of Duty stuff.
Microsoft has hijacked the consoles, and rode them straight back to the PC market. I don't want to be playing PC games, much less dumbed-down PC games.
So I have to resort to emulation of ooooold stuff.
I seem to be able to go about 100m along the same stretch of road, then the truck stops, at both ends. There is no > or < to go further, at either end.
There is one little side diversion that goes on some grass, around the back of a funny decrepit old building that looks like it used to be an Orthodox church.
