Q: Allow Shift + Enter to Submit Form

LyleCrumbstormI have a simple form whose action posts to a basic PHP script. The problem I have discovered is that if someone is typing fast and accidently has the Shift key down when they hit "Enter" a whole slew of PHP error messages pops up. How can I allow Shift + Enter to work just like "Enter" or at leas...

What? Why have we got that?

I just got an email from a user who literal ended every line with an exclamation point. And one of them with three exclamation points.
@AndrewLeach When it's idle, it has some randomly generated stuff.

4:36 PM
@KitFox What!!!! Why??! What on earth were they thinking?!?!?!

> Thank you SO much! I have been trying to log in on my new computer but had lost my password!!! (Everything was bookmarked on my old one!) I was going to write to someone today! You beat me to it! I will try the new password right now! Thank you again!
I guess she was excited.

If a new password is all it takes...

Right. Now I must put the young one to bed. bbl

Has anyone read Keep the Aspidistra Flying, by Orwell?
It sounds utterly depressing.
And yet the plot lines seems oddly similar to that of 1984!
It starts with an adequate but not luxurious position in life, deteriorating into anguish and suffering when the protagonist tries to uphold certain principles, then it ends with a great sigh of relief for the protagonist as he is forced by his environment to give up his principles entirely and forever.

You should comment all your code

4:51 PM
@SOChatBot Tell that to Zirak

@SOChatBot Wtf!?
@SOChatBot You should use punctuation.

@Cerberus 84 is pretty depressing no?

Very.

@KitFox can the idle activity be configured?

Ah, at last, a dedicated room for hanging people.

5:08 PM
The bot took Ninja

Nah, a ninja will beat a bot hands down every time.

@JohanLarsson I don't think so.
I am interesting in messing with the source code.

@RegDwighт link to data supporting that claim?

user61389
Hi all!

user61389
Say I want a word combining "school" and "moderators", would "schoolerators" or "scholerators" be the "correct" spelling?

There is no correct spelling of a word you only just invented yourself.

mchool or mohol?

user61389
What would be the normal English way of spelling this word, if it would exist?

5:18 PM

You may as well spell it ASgidsfg. Pronounced "jiggy". Meaning "schoolerators". Whatever that means.
@CamilStaps again, there is no normal English way of spelling a word that does not exist.

user61389
Yes, fine, lol

user61389
Which way would look more English-ish?

We don't even know how you pronounce it.
@CamilStaps both.

user61389
@RegDwighт okay, then I know enough :) thanks!

5:20 PM
@CamilStaps teachers

Yeah, really. That is the word you want.

someone called it street captcha^

Choleric gators from school.
@JohanLarsson je confirme.

@JohanLarsson Mais comment peut-on faire ça?

Anyone bored?

aye :)
I'm eating, I'm not bored

eating delicious Indian left-overs

5:27 PM
I have an activity if there are a couple of you who are bored

Eating self-made драники.
Everyone here eats when they are bored. This is gonna be a room of fat people.

What's draniki?
Or whatever

Sort of like latkes.
Or pretty much latkes.

I wan't to go to Odessa some day to eat potato based food and because I like the name of the city

@RegDwighт Oh. Right. Thanks.

5:30 PM
You grate a few potatoes, add two eggs, a pinch of salt, a pinch of pepper. Then fry it in olive oil.
Today I also grated a carrot.

@RegDwighт What's in that?

Tastes fine.
@Cerberus slow again?

@JohanLarsson I agree, Odessa is a freaking good name.
@RegDwighт I have heard of the word, but that's all.
@RegDwighт Ahh this!

Harhar.

So it is like a tortilla.

5:31 PM
QED
@Cerberus you are like a tortilla.
A tortilla is nothing like this. Not even remotely.

No, you're just making tortilla.

Rösti?

No, it is exactly like that.

@JohanLarsson Yes.

Rösti is only potato, isn't it?

5:32 PM
No.

No egg.

Well the egg is optional in my recipe as well.

In Sweden we have 'Raggmunkar' they are closer to pancakes but similar

Nobody said that draniki must be with egg.

@RegDwighт Okay, the only difference between this and tortilla is that you great the potato instead of cutting it into small pieces.

5:32 PM
You don't see the egg anyway. Unlike with tortilla where eggs are the whole point, and the potatoes are not even grated.

Same ingredients.
I suppose grated potatoes will result in a different texture. I like the idea.

@Cerberus stop it already. I know tortillas. I make tortillas. I buy tortillas. I eat tortillas. They are nothing like draniki.
Period.

Why not?

This is like saying that milk is the same as kefir.

5:34 PM
@Cerberus because these are completely different recipes for completely different things that look, smell, and taste completely different.

Different how?

You don't have Rösti in Dutchland?

We do, but it's just grated potato, fried.

@Cerberus in every respect. Name one respect, I will tell you how it's different.

And it's spelled rösti.

5:35 PM
@Cerberus well there you have it. That's draniki.

Respect one: ingredients.
Respect two: way of preparation (frying).

@Cerberus completely different.
@Cerberus completely different again.

How?
How2?

99% potatoes vs 50% potatoes. Grated vs. chopped. Ultimately resulting in fried vs. cooked.
Tortillas typically have jamon, and peas, and other shit.
Draniki are just potatoes, period.
This is unnerving.
I know both things, you only know one.
I'd rather play bayan.
Except my left arm hurts.

maybe get your wife to play the left hand side?

5:42 PM
Right on, at least she can see the button colors!

!! /fry

@MετάEd Command fry does not exist.

@SOChatBot It should.

@RegDwighт Ah OK, so draniki are normally much thinner/flatter?

@RegDwighт You can calm down, you have more or less convinced me. You I am not someone who blindly accepts an assertion without an explanation if what information he has points in the other direction.
@RegDwighт Yay, knisperig!
Or knapperig.
Do you have knapperig?

@Cerberus I'm calmed down already, I'm frying the bot now in case you're noticing.

5:45 PM
I think it is from knappen.
Do you have knappen?

We have. Those are grooms. I think.

@RegDwighт No, that's knapen!
By the way, don't you also have Knabe?

!!/fry MattЭллен

@RegDwighт Now frying M!

(All =~ knave.)

5:47 PM
@Cerberus see the very first sentence in that Wikipedia quote.
So okay, why does the bot only fry one letter at a time?

@RegDwighт Right, right.

!!/learn fry 'Now frying $0!' \w+ 'summons the lord'

@RegDwighт Command fry already exists

OHFFS
!!/unlearn fry

@RegDwighт Command unlearn does not exist. Did you mean: learn

5:48 PM
But I'm talking about a verb meaning "to break/crack/snap" (English doesn't really have an equivalent).
Knappen.

I know.

Do you have it?

English does have knap.

And hence knapperig, "prone to knappen"?
@AndrewLeach Really?

@Cerberus Obviously not, otherwise I'd have answered "yes" rather than linking to a Wikipedia article on something else entirely.

5:49 PM
Yes. A flint axe is knapped.

@RegDwighт One never knows with you.

We have stuff like verknappen. To create a deficit. Or whatever.
Make rare.
From knapp, "rare".

@AndrewLeach Hmm funny. That's oddly specific. For the lithicum.

Actually, more like "very close".

@RegDwighт Hmmm I think we have that in dialects!

5:51 PM
"Das war knapp" is a common sentence. Meaning that you escaped by the flesh of your teeth.

Maybe akin to krap, "tight, scant"?

Knapping is the shaping of flint, chert, obsidian or other conchoidal fracturing stone through the process of lithic reduction to manufacture stone tools, strikers for flintlock firearms, or to produce flat-faced stones for building or facing walls, and flushwork decoration. The original Germanic term "knopp" meant strike, shape, or work, so it could theoretically have referred equally well to making a statue or dice. Modern usage is more specific, referring almost exclusively to the hand-tool pressure flaking process pictured to the right. Method Flintknapping or knapping is done in ...

I have no idea.

@RegDwighт We would say dat was krap, but only about physical distances/volumes, not more broadly as a metaphor as in "that was close".

5:52 PM
@KitFox Now frying @Reg!

Excellent.

@Mitch Also Orwell?

Oh, yes, Orwell.
It's kind of an autobiography of him doing kitchen clean up.

@Cerberus there's another saying, "knapp daneben ist auch vorbei".

@RegDwighт It's the least I can do, considering I taught it xkcd.

5:53 PM
No please no xkcd.

@Cerberus So I don't remember any overarching moral other than 'being poor sucks', like 'Wigan Pier'

@RegDwighт Too late. But when I write my own, I'll not let it do xkcd when you're present.

@RegDwighт Ahh yes. I think we use a different metaphor for that meaning.

xkcd is hilarious and captures exactly what life is for a certain kind of techno geek. Except when it's not hilarious.

@RegDwighт It's at the tip of my tongue, but I can't think of the Dutch equivalent.

5:54 PM
@Mitch which these days is always.

@Mitch Haha. Surely there was more to it...I think Orwell was often arguing against excessive capitalism and mainly the City?

I was napping, but then everybody pung.

XKCD is just another Kim Kardashian. Famous for being famous.

Yeah. I've noticed that lately, they don't make much sense, and the little sense they do make is kinda empty.
@KitFox what?
@KitFox pung again?

I gotta go watch the news. Lators.

5:55 PM
@KitFox *knapping
@RegDwighт By the way, do you also have knap "handsome, smart (as in appearance)"?

@RegDwighт ah, but no. there are classics. like the far side.
@Cerberus Speaking for him, yes...

@Mitch there are also classic episodes of Keeping Up With the Kardashians. Just saying.

@Mitch Haha.

I got annoyed at Tundra the other day because it had "Red Riding hood's kleptomania catches up with her" and I was all like "Bitch, it was Goldilocks who was the klepto, fucking nitwit."

Really, when people say classics most of the time they mean "something I loved as a child but am too afraid to check out now because frankly, it wouldn't be all that awesome".

5:58 PM
@RegDwighт also, supposedly, they have outstanding anatomical features.

@Mitch Men?

And I am not here.

@Cerberus hm...or maybe not...

@RegDwighт Many of the books I read as a child stood up well to time.
@RegDwighт Except of course Ozymandias.

@MετάEd exactly..cuz that ain't a book.

@Gigili haudi.

@MετάEd yes, if you mean xkcd. They're all stick figures.

I need an adverb for apologize to describe how sorry I am. What do you recommend?

@Mitch And they're great at linear thinking.

'Sorry'

6:00 PM
And I think they speak Linear B.

@MετάEd rim shot!

@Gigili Profusely?
terribly sorry?

deeply?

@MετάEd That's it. Thanks.
I apologize profusely. Yay!

naw, you should turn it around and make it look like it is their fault. so they'd feel obligated to apologize to you.

6:02 PM
Thank you @Mitch.

yeah, profusely is the best. terribly is more everyday.

I apologize terribly.

@Mitch yeah I apologize angrily

No you're right, that one is terrible.
