Gonna add my OpenSSL\bin first in the PATH environment variable.

Okay, that part has been fixed. :-/

Now make it find vcvarsall.bat, somehow...

I have 2010 but not supported, either install 2008 or install mingw32 and modify the compressed zip to run the setup with a different compiler set. :-/

Oh, misread it, it says basetsd.h, not basestd.h... :/

Enough for today, might be specific to Win32 as the compiler might try to compile in 64-bit mode so I'm going to try the OpenSSL 64-bit version tomorrow, althought that might mismatch with my 32-bit PyOpenSSL. :-/

Oh, there were exe's and msi's on and although for 32-bit XP they seem to install, I'm just going to guess these work and accept my SU question. If it doesn't I can always re-open later.

mine has some butt-ugly security stickers on it

it's a thing the university does. not required, but highly recommended. they've had problems with laptop theft before, and apparently nobody with the tracking stickers has ever had their laptop stolen and not recovered

@Sathya the tags don't do any physical tracking themselves or contain RFID or anything. it's just a metal plate essentially epoxied on, which (supposedly) takes 800 lbs of force to remove and leaves a permanent "STOLEN PROPERTY" mark on the laptop if it is removed. it has a tracking number and a phone number to call to report it if found

that way, if somebody were to steal it, they essentially couldn't sell it, because it would have a big sticker or STOLEN mark on it

I'd put my bet on IrfanView - it's probably one of the better & lighter image viewers. You can also try FastPictureViewer - I haven't tried it personally but it claims to have DirectX hardware acceleration.

they want to learn about the xmpp protocol, but they asked how to use telnet to send xmpp snippets rather than asking how to go about observing and testing XMPP
