Daniel FellenzerThe mom and son are in the same division of a space federation and, after a war breaks out, they are ordered by the higher ups to work with a pirate group that was hired to work with them. The father turns out to be the representative, and there is a lot of bad blood between the two at first. The...

DemiLostThere's this children's Chapter Book that I've been looking for for absolutely ages. It involves four kids and they go through this like doorway or portal or something under the table in their little play house or treehouse. They go on a whole bunch of adventures ant the end, they end up at this ...

Q: Help tracking down a disaster movie?

MisterLionHope you can help me find the title of the movie. I don't remember much of it except the part where an Asian man goes into the grocery store, pets a kitten lying on a shelf, then does some shopping. He then comes out and see cracks appearing on the asphalt. He jumps in his car and takes off tryin...

I'm about to destroy the . Just for the record, the top answerers in this tag were dlanod, Jason Baker, DVK, and the top askers were DavRob60, DVK, and PearsonArtPhoto.
mod volcano activates
Just two questions needed editing after the merge, and one of them didn't bump to the front page as its score is too low. I think everything is now fine.
Someone should write a tag wiki for the new though.

I've done a basic one

@Marvin I saw this on the HNQ list and came here all ready to downvote another short low-quality manga ID question. But, whoa. That amount of detail is worth an upvote instead.

Q: Future Works policy on The Rings of Power, a TV show that has not yet finished its first season

galacticninjaCurrently, we have two questions asking about a comparison of the TV show, The Lord of the Rings: The Rings of Power, to its source material: How close is Amazon's 'The Rings of Power' to anything that existed in prior Tolkien works? What has appeared in Rings of Power that is outside Lord of th...

@Randal'Thor I'm sad about that tag having to die, because I think it is useful, but I don't have a better solution than to delete it and use the same name for the series.
The problem is that "ring" is hard to search when it's in the book title of Lord of the Rings, and that's why the tag was useful.
I was thinking of merging it into [the-one-ring] but that would be unintuitive
12:31
Mm.
A tag name like would be unintuitive and probably still have a risk of being misused on questions about the new show.
No other way to disambiguate really.
13:06
@Randal'Thor How come your tag edit shows as adding and removing ?
@b_jonas Just letting you know that Valorum may not see your message here. At one point, he was quite the rabble-rouser, and he got a longstanding ban on chat. That may have been resolved since then, but I also don't know if he checks into here.
@TheLethalCarrot That's the one.
Shows fine to me
Oh sorry you said shows... thought you had an "only" in there
It orders the tags into most used to least used on tag edits
Ah, I see. I wasn't aware they were actually sorted on the post. I guess I kind of assumed it was ordered dynamically on display.
13:20
Greetings, Earthlings.
If you look at older posts they don't re-order. They get "locked in" in order at time of edit
@DavidW One might be tempted to dismiss that as a weird bug, but there is actually an explanation for it. A long one though, so sit tight ...

Q: looking for early 2000s science fiction book

SverrI'm looking for the title of a science fiction book. I believe it would have been pre 2010. I believe the book is part of a trilogy. The setting is a heavily forested colony world, dotted with the occasional small village or town. The main character's profession was that of a game warden or somet...

By default, tags are sorted from biggest tag to smallest tag, as TLC says. Obviously is a massive tag, so it'll naturally always be at the beginning. The only places you'll see that tag appearing not at the beginning is in some old posts from the 2017 Edit Day, when the tag was just being created and the only posts it had were older posts with other tags like and that were being merged into the new tag.
The process of merging is just to replace one tag by another tag everywhere it appears: there's no check to rearrange the tag order, so in Edit Day some smaller tags got merged into and the big new tag remained at the end of the tags list on some posts.
This apparently also applies when an older tag is merged into an existing new tag, so when I merged into today, it meant some posts now have the tag at the end of the tags list (where was before) even if the big tag had already existed on the post pre-merge.
Then, when I edited that question to add the new tag, the system did an automatic check and put the tags into the right order, at the beginning instead of the end, even though the only thing I actually did during the edit was to type in at the end.
@Marvin Interrupting Obie again.
@Randal'Thor Interesting. Thanks for typing all that out.

Q: Early 2000s cartoon show where villain is a blue cat

PiribikIt was set in animals universe and there were no humans. I think there was a villain who was a blue cat and used to make gadgets. And protagonist was a superhero but kept their identity hidden to public. Villain used to try to defeat the hero but always failed.

14:47
@FuzzyBoots yeah, I know. I should probably just have said that without the ping.
@Randal'Thor If I wanted a different name that's still franchise-specific, I'd go with [tolkiens-legendarium-rings] instead.
but I don't think it's worth even with the best name, sadly
also we should consider it poetic justice that just like the rings had to lose their power, and the deed for this had to be done by the good guys' hands, so do we have to destroy the rings-of-power tag now, even before the tag would fade into useless.
and yes, someone did point that out in the meta post
@Donald.McLean yo
You have only one choice. The Tag must be destroyed — Valorum Sep 4 at 9:12
Valorum pointed it out
also I hope that future Disney Star Wars works become popular enough that [star-wars] once again takes over [harry-potter] as the second most frequent tag
We should be ready to celebrate it this time if it happens
we'll have to figure out some appropriate way to celebrate in advance
but probably only after we know something about Episode 10 or whatever work will tip the scales
ok, stupid question. where are the questions on Movies SE about the new Rings of Power TV series? the show has already premiered so I expect that there would be some, and we already have six. but I can't find any.
15:06
@b_jonas maybe they don't like questions over there?
@AncientSwordRage they don't like identification questions, that much I know
they don't just tell that to you straight away in movies.stackexchange.com/help/dont-ask . no. they instead waste new people's time by only telling after they've written their question. kind of evil.
maybe they also ban Rings of Power questions but also don't tell about that?
ah I see. that's because meta.stackexchange.com/questions/259914/… says that diamond mods can't edit movies.stackexchange.com/help/dont-ask , only movies.stackexchange.com/help/on-topic and the relevant section in the tour
so now we have at least three SE sites that forbid ID questions despite that people often want to post them, and the mods can't tell that to new users on the one help page that you think would be the most relevant for this. congrats, SE.
I wonder how many cumulative years of new posters' time they've wasted that way.
by the way, could you please unstar chat.stackexchange.com/transcript/message/61972610#61972610 since it has misleading information and is still near the top of the starboard

Q: Manhwa where the main character makes a pact with a woman, enabling him to transform into fighters and gain their abilities

Fifty shades of blackI'm searching in for a manhwa where I think the main character is searching for his mother and makes a pact with a woman, enabling him to transform into fighters and gain their abilities. He later gets a bodyguard for the female lead and saves her. Does anyone know this manhwa?

Q: Searching for a short story probably from the 70s where a new procedure would supposedly make people smarter

The assumption was that the experiment failed and they had brain damage. Ultimately, it was disc...
