The one that has been active the most over the last while is the one we will normally prefer stays running. The reason for that is that there is some state information which is specific to each instance (e.g. user-blacklist; notify list; recently reported post list; user-whitelist; etc). We generally want to keep the instance active which has the larger amount of recent information.
@JeffSchaller ah, so it's the one you have to restart from time to time? So does someone do that for the Tavern each time or does the Tavern get special treatment?

@Catija Tavern does get special treatment. charcoal-se.org/smokey/… It can be set up so that specific users are notified, or that reports are sent to specific rooms. They're orthogonal though. as far as I'm aware.
@cairdcoinheringaahing Yes, that can be done. There are instructions here. You can ping an admin and ask for that, or make a PR yourself (which involves updating the rooms.yml file I think), which will be faster.
@cigien Thanks, I'll take a proper look later. I'll need to talk to the other users in the room before allowing SD first tho, we're pretty anti-bot in TNB :)
@cairdcoinheringaahing yes, although Makyen took pity on me and rotated the active SD instances while I pasted the "notify" command to each one. That way, I was covered ... at least for failovers between those instances.

Yeah, I'd imagine that there's a certain minimum weight that needs to be met before getting more eyes on the post (I'm more than familiar with the problems of mobile :P)

@SmokeDetector Spam flags were declined on this post, but both answers were then deleted an hour or so later (at least one didn't have 6 spam flags on it). Maybe a different law.se mod saw some flags raised later, and agreed with them.
ah, okay, thanks. it's not really too big of a deal if it does post questions - we already have a bot that does that (and oneboxes it) and an RO usually throws out the message anyway, so it isn't a hassle to add the smokey message in with the trash
@Catija The rooms.yml file allows telling SD to post reports into specified chat rooms. The posts reported into the specified room can be limited to a specific site or sites, or all sites except for a specific site or sites. Reports are typically also limited to posts which are detected by at least one non-"experimental" detection ("experimental" here means a list of detection reasons that tend to be less reliable at detecting only true positive posts; a complete list is available).
Reports into the specified room can also be limited to those reports which include detection reasons other than an explicitly specified reason or reasons.

@tripleee i am wondering if that'd be possible - we're considering adding this bot to our main room but if we do i want to turn off pretty much all of the "unnecessary" commands
it's alright if it doesn't exist - our room gets plenty of noise anyway (or rather, it's hardly on-topic) and an occasional coffee or two isn't bad as long as people don't overdo it
that said, if it's not too much work, i'll create an issue if we ever do need it. thanks :)
we already have conditional behaviors for different rooms, the simplest implementation would probably be to add yet another @decorator to these commands to say to turn them off if a flag is set in the current room

@SmokeDetector Suspicious, likely spam: Article is quite low quality and posted 3 days ago. I'm rather skeptical they happened across it when trying to answer this. ...and they posted more links to the site while I was writing that custom flag.
@SmokeDetector comments are deleted now, but the spammer tried to wiggle around my requests for an explanation for their spam spree over the last month or so
