@user sinf is sin but all the arguments are just infinity

yay, helpful flags :p

Argh, typos

@lyxal Infant abuse is way too bad.

This is a duplicate of this, but I can't tell if it's status-declined or status-review

I'm not too sure that's a feature request

12:01 AM
@StackExchange correct

@user I... think I either missed or deleted that one

@lyxal Wanna check the inbox?

@hyper-neutrino ¯\_(ツ)_/¯ The feature-request tag could be removed, I guess
@cairdcoinheringaahing >:)

217 - 179 = ?

12:03 AM
:(
I'm trying to edit.

It's kinda depressing that most of my notes for are "This isn't a bad idea, but SE isn't likely to implement this just for us" :/

Should this be tagged ? It isn't even relevant anymore. I feel it needs a better answer

It's , but not yet
Once this moves from to , it is

oh no, now y'all are competing so the flag count is gonna skyrocket
should i decline the second flag if both of you happen to flag the same post? spice up the flag competition a bit ;) (for legal reasons that's a joke)

Actually, I've just hit 80 flags, so lemme just share my notes file and y'all can go to town

12:09 AM
@hyper-neutrino easier solution: get AI to tell us whose flag to accept

Big brain

Here;s a link to my notes. Don't flag anything outside of the [status-declined] section, as those are ones that need more discussion. Also, don't blindly tag - double check that my notes/categorisation is correct. Don't edit the ones that shouldn't have [bug]/[feature-request] - those should be done later

Oh wow, that's a lot of work

And you thought you could swoop in at the end and ninja me :P

Do we need to keep a list of questions related to the How to Ask page and FAQ so when the change happens, we can close them all?
@cairdcoinheringaahing I would've if your sleep habits weren't so unnatural :P

12:12 AM
If hyper says anything about flagging, obviously listen to him - I'm sharing this to help, not to overwhelm the site or mods. Above all, just be sensible :)

In any case, I know all your secrets now ;)
@cairdcoinheringaahing Of course
stops work on auto-flag userscript

ಠ_ಠ

@user Speaking of, I'm going to go to bed. I trust y'all to sensibly use that list, I don't want to wake up to meta with 50 edits :P

@hyper-neutrino Don't worry, even if I knew how to do that, I'd be too lazy to :P

lol, fair

12:14 AM
@cairdcoinheringaahing How does 69 sound?

Good or bad, depending on the context :P

/s, of course

If you guys don't want to check my inbox room, I'll show it to you here.

please don't, if we don't want to check your inbox room it means, quite frankly, that we probably don't really care

@StackExchange If people don't want to check your inbox room, it's unlikely they'll want to see it here, even if it's just a small image
^^

12:15 AM
Okay. I'll stop.

what user said (slightly more nice than mine :P)

I'll stick to my room.

That's some really impressive work (although potentially disruptive)
lol I just realized the name of your gist is "no status tags." I thought it was a Greek word or something

@user laughs in smokey autoflags

12:21 AM
@user I can never remember if .md file names can have spaces in, so I just dont

I think I'll stop now, considering the pending flags I have, and the fact that it's nearly dinnertime (probably also for HN)

Fun fact: this retagging has created the [status-completed] tag badge, which I'm about 70% of the way to getting

Nice

@hyper-neutrino not nice
Off by 1

12:26 AM
@lyxal Almost nice/69?

@user that's more accurate

caird said "about 70%", so you can interpret that as "about 69%" too :P

Actually, I think the exact percentage is between 64 and 73 percent, so ~68/69%

Mmm yes time to do horribly at fnf

12:42 AM
keep in mind that i did tell caird to just flag all of the posts at once and then i'd pace the edits myself (until i changed my mind on that too)
so as long as y'all are flagging appropriately and responsibly, feel free to put them all at once so i have a record of all of them and can handle them as I see fit
but I expect everyone to uphold the same standards when using flags properly, just don't bother with spacing them out yourself; i'll do what I see fit with the edits

Well, I currently have 3 pending flags, and 77 helpful ones, so I'm expecting to wake up to a Deputy badge ;)
Can't speak for everyone else tho :P

can't make promises :)
i might wait for them to stack up so i can go through them in one go and then re-bump relevant stuff again

1:00 AM

@Razetime (or anyone), I'm looking for advice on what to do with the Pip tutorial now that TIO's version of Pip is out of date. I like having TIO links in the tutorial so people can try out the examples... but if I update the tutorial to use the current version of Pip, the code in the TIO links won't match the examples. What do you think would cause the least confusion for people learning the language?

question, for desmos, would it be valid to return a list of codepoints instead of a string?

Holy heck they're playing rickroll at the shopping centre I'm at
8

Wtf?

Never gonna give you up is on the mall's speakers

@Underslash Probably - In Bf you can return chars instead of numbers so I'm guessing the other way round would be okay.

1:51 AM
thanks

Maybe ask on meta tho
That's just my opinion'

i think itll be fine

@lyxal This is fantastic.
> Redwolf Programs: We can make Minecraft in APL
> A username: "That's not a bug, that's a feature!"

2:08 AM
@lyxal Nice. Very nice.
Not sure if clang basically means "C language".

its actually a reference to the sound it makes when you drop a pot, hence "clang"

Drop a pot? If by that, you mean...
The compiler's developers broke one.
I'm just kidding.
But would they?
Has there been a challenge of exponents, where you take 2 numbers as input, namely x and y, where x is the base and y is the power?

id assume so, and if not, its kinda a trivial challenge
in python, its literally just: lambda x,y:x**y

What makes it trivial?

like that isnt interesting
well
its 1 operation basically
and almost every language has that built in

2:18 AM
Oh.
Btw, I don't know how lambda works.

Also, the word's funny looking.

@StackExchange it's especially trivial in most golfing languages

there's currently a moth in my room so I think it's a reasonable response to burn my entire house down

exponent will only be interesting in a very very small subset of languages

2:20 AM
heres some example code:

add = lambda a, b: a + b
add(1, 3) # this would return 4

Okay.

we don't need a "do X $ Y" for every operation $; we already have "a plus b"

it would be cool in hexagony for example

i don't see an exact dupe but there is a "compute (a+bi)^c"

@rak1507 bruh just turn on a lamp and it'll be satisfied

2:21 AM
tried that but it's still flying around

moths are so cute tho

I hate moths

@rak1507 give it time

möth

@rak1507 Then once it lands, burn the lamp not the house

2:22 AM
lol

@Underslash I never encountered a moth. Hold on, I'll search.
Okay, I agree. It's kinda cute.

exactly
like they're just plain butterflies

But I'd get a fly swatter anyway.

how you going to dislike it
D:

@Underslash Disturbs the peace?

2:23 AM
it does not

sigh another argument to settle \s

just let it chill
@lyxal there is no argument, you and rak are just wrong

Everyone has their opinion. You can get cancelled for a dumb reason anyway, but I accept that.

moths are fine until they land on your face while you're trying to sleep
then you want to murder their entire family
2

and some peoples opinions are objectively incorrect
when do moths ever land on you
ive never had that happen and I see moths all the time
aaaaaaand they cant even bite you or anything
they just flap

2:26 AM
@Underslash basically every night for me

@Underslash If they just flap, what's the purpose of moths?

sure they don't bite you, but it's still no fun

certainly not to get fly swatted

`dalambsus`
I remember old times when "sus" wasn't some amogus thing, but rather sauce thanks to YTPs. Sauce is a funny word in the good times, wasn't it?

GPT-3 says moths are good
Case closed

2:26 AM
if we were talking about spiders, I would agree, and maybe even go further than burning the house

@lyxal Yay another piece of text for GPT-3 to hilariously autocomplete!

but moths?
cmon

I just said "sauce" then I chuckled.
@lyxal Why do you have seconds on your time?

@StackExchange I too remember the days when sus meant that you took someone's speech that had a su syllable and mirrored it.
@StackExchange why not?

2:28 AM
@StackExchange Why don't you?

@lyxal That's strange for me who only has hh:mm.
And my phone is took away. :(
Can't get that back now, I guess.
I still have to do important stuff.

@rak1507 Not sure why we're talking about moths, but I woke up a few days ago and found hundreds of moth eggs on my windowsill so I'm not in a particularly moth-loving-mood lately :p

damn

My cat did end up eating the moth though

@RedwolfPrograms Clean it up.

2:32 AM
:(

yum

@rak1507 That got me.

@lyxal What about the days when sus (pronounced 'soos') was a shorthand for sushi.

@Ausername Was it? Nice.

what is dislikable about this?

2:34 AM
@StackExchange Nope.

look how cute that is*

That moth looks like it's wearing itself as a coat

It's still loading.
Ah, there we go.

I can tell why rak doesn't like moths now
I have the answer

@lyxal I can say the same.

2:36 AM
bunch of moth haters out here smh

Moths are like dystopian butterflies

rak doesn't like moths because rak is a moth (disclaimer: I used GPT-3 to autocomplete text. The dialogue after the indicated line is not at all representative of the respective users)

gasp

@lyxal @rak1507 What's the meaning of this?

You heard it here, folks

2:38 AM
@StackExchange it means that rak is a bad moth
Who happens to like moth jokes

Um...

Uuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuhhhhhhh...

why does desmos not support recursion
:(

I wouldn't want to hear another moth joke again.
Poor rak.

do you guys also not like butterflies?

2:41 AM
I like butterflies, but I'd bring out the fly swat if they ever come in the house. I wouldn't turn it on, but I'd shoo them.
3

Reasonable

Would a baseball bat work though? I don't think I have one, but I think it would.

@StackExchange :|

Would a stick do? :P

yall official are monsters
"Would a baseball bat work though?" they cannot hurt you whatsoever
why
why a baseball bat

2:44 AM
Not to hurt them, idiot. To shoo them.

Probably

still
just like pick it up
they're chill

Eww, no.

wdym

I thought picking them up was the one thing you weren't supposed to do

2:45 AM
a butterfly?

Correct

Don't question why I don't wanna.

why wouldnt you

@Underslash I JUST SA- ah, forget it.
I just got to YouTube and found this in my recommended.
I feel sick looking at the thumbnail.

dogeshark

2:49 AM
Gabe the dog.
I think I remember listening to Windows startup and shutdown sounds as a Gabe the Dog cover.

wow my youtube recommendations are surprisingly tame today

I don't want to look at mine.
I wish I got a notification whenever I got an upvote on meta.

can you loop a youtube queue

I believe so yeah
I think it's the same controls as a playlist

2:59 AM
Huh, I guess not then

i could save it but the set of songs i want to listen to changes very frequently and i don't want to have to make a new playlist each time
oh well

You can click "save" and just check and uncheck a video from a playlist

My Wi-Fi. :(
Load some 360p.

true but my process for constructing my queue is just either let it autoplay or if i see i won't like the autoplayed song, scroll through the recommendations and queue one and wait (brb lemme private all my playlists) and then see if i'll like the autoplay from that one lol

Hell, load all of it.

3:03 AM
thing is i tend to not be at my computer for a long enough block and when i come back often i decide i don't want to listen to that song anymore or want to watch something else and then discard my queue :p even if i just step away for like 2 minutes

Oof

i can "loop" my queue by manually moving the top item to the bottom each time it finishes playing :P

@hyper-neutrino imagine not just listening to one song on loop

well i do sometimes

3:19 AM
Imagine not listening to small children screaming.

@Ausername Ah yes, my baby sister sounds like an elephant.
Who's ever thought of math golf?

there's
i wonder if the SE twitter accounts even pull in any activity/attention to posts ever, lol

3:36 AM
@hyper-neutrino Looks interesting, I got to admit.

i've handled 65 flags on meta and 43 of them have been within the past week lol...
the remaining 22 were probably automatic flags cast by community on our sandbox
actually, i'm not sure if handling multiple flags on the same post count as multiple in your stats. probably not

What a mod. I like that.

@hyper-neutrino One of which was me "vandalising" my posted sandboxed challenges.

nah credit goes primarily to caird; they did a *lot*/most of the work and research on each question and i mostly just retagged stuff after he flagged it appropriately :P

Welcome back. Redwolf.

3:55 AM
int i=11;
From now on, I say 11 using that value.
Unless you guys changed the value.
I still don't know what 11 is.

"mod abuse!!!" => "mod abuse !1!!1" => "mod abuse11" => 11

it's a slang verb that has no real definition and roughly just means some sort of moderator action (almost exclusively used when there is no mod abuse)

@StackExchange I was confused for a second here with your username LOL

@DocGolf Who're'ya?
Sentence golfing. lol

3:59 AM
@StackExchange Hey wait a second, couldn't you just compress binary by linking it to obscure unicode codepoints?
I'm pretty sure somebody is bound to have beat me to it.

I'm a beginner. I don't know how. :P
Wi-FI!!!!!!!!!! Load my 360p.
What bad intercon I have.

I read it as intercom
Heh

Internet connection is what I'd call "intercon" for now.

Oh no...I just heard a mosquito in my room.
It's going to bother me all night then bite me twenty times

it was nice knowing you

4:06 AM
I know what I have to do. (Reaches for large gun)
Mosquitos happen to be quite vulnerable to ranged weaponry

@hyper-neutrino I always think of 11 as the laugh sound from Age of Empires 2, which puts its usage here in a weirdly different context.
"Mod abuse, haha!"

well that's appropriate given that it's always used as a joke :p (or rather, ironically)

1="ha"?
360p still can't load a bunch.

@StackExchange 1 = "Yes," actually. I guess it's more of an array index than a string substitution.

@pppery Hi.
What a name.

4:11 AM
What's so special about it?

I like it.
Tada!
Funny that my pfp shows "rq", like it's some sort of request.

Because of that, in my head I just call you "rq" (pronounced "urk") lol

I read rq as "ragequit"

1. Buy leaf blower
2. Remove unnecessary parts
3. Attach cell phone
4. Add custom software and wire to leaf blower
5. Fill large balloon with helium
6. Attach balloon to leaf blower + cell phone
7. Stream phone camera footage to laptop
8. Release
9. ???
10. Profit

Satisfying?

4:22 AM
Actually wait, there's nothing currently powering the leaf blower and batteries are heavy

@RedwolfPrograms My name's "urk" and I'm your gaming Q&A site. lol

Maybe a computer fan would work better. It'd move slower, but might still be able to resist low wind speeds.
Something like a backup charging battery for phones could work for both the phone and the fan as a power source
Maybe a cheap solar cell
Problem: computer fan will just cause phone + fan module to spin
One on either side might work, you'd just need some calibration to ensure they're balanced
You might be able to add lightwight sheets of plastic to add wind resistance and cause the fan to always face in one direction in strong winds, sort of like how wind turbines can rotate to become as effective as possible
I wonder how much this would cost, considering actually trying it

> Redwolf: Good day, gentlemen. I'm here to change the future
Will I just keep ranting here about my intercon?

One balloon can lift 14 grams. A smart phone appears to be about 160 grams. Computers fans appear to be around 70 grams each. If I used the phone battery as a power source, which wouldn't last long, I'd only need 22 helium balloons. One tank of helium should be enough for that.
If I'm planning a longer term mission though, I'd need bigger balloons (made of mylar), a battery of some sort, and additional weight for steering sturctures, a parachute or landing gear, electronics, and solar cells.

If you're trying to convince me to run this through gpt then y'ain't doing a good job

4:37 AM
Those computer fans will be useless in any amount of wind though, due to the massive wind resistance of the balloons, so they'll be used for rotating the rudder.
@lyxal I'm not, surprisingly

I want 0.00000000000000000001 ping. :(

4:57 AM
Any logos you guys like?
Stack Exchange ones.
I have a bunch I can wear.

hello everyone

5:15 AM
@Wasif Helloooo.
Any costume you want me to wear?

@Arqade hi!
keep wearing CGCC
Imao

Okay.
I can't change my name in a month. :(

@RedwolfPrograms so where did this come from then? What's the inspiration?

@StackExchange ok then keep your Arqade name

No need. I like that.

5:18 AM
My phone really wanted to say insustor instead of inspiration

But this is better.
@lyxal That's how amogus works.

@lyxal then turn off your auto spell checker

@Wasif it was an auto suggestion

that could be turned off

But then where's the fun in that?
Plus it's actually useful

5:23 AM
not useful when you code in TIO

Sadly for lyxal, the amogus never goes away.

python tends to turn into normal English
but its not a big problem for applescript

@StackExchange nothing sad about it

@Wasif Is that so? I can make a sus() function.

@StackExchange I was amogus for a while

5:24 AM
You were?

That was my picture for a month or so
@StackExchange ^

Nice.

Kinda sus

@Ausername sorry, but you do need the context variable there

What are you talking about? ;)

Q: Is this FEN board a Fischer random chess starting board?

qwrIntroduction Fischer random chess, also known as Chess960 for the 960 valid starting boards, is a variant of chess where each player's pieces are randomly shuffled at the start. As a reminder, each player gets 8 pawns, two rooks, two knights, two bishops, one queen, and one king. For this challen...

@lyxal int sus>9000;

Oui oui baguette!

Bababa ba?
Bababa.

5:48 AM
Ba. Babababa baba ba bababa bababa. Ba, baba!

what is Bababa

Idk]

Sorry, but I'm speaking Filipino.

oh I see

Want me to translate what I said?

5:50 AM
yeah

Is it going down?
It's going down.
"Baba" would mean down. That's the most common word for it. Another "baba" is chin.
It really depends on how you say it. Tone, I suppose.

In Bengali Baba means father
so I was damn confused

I currently have all three answers in Vyxal with jr flags.
