i still think it violates the intended purpose, trust, and responsibility of what a moderator is meant to be and even if we can be 100% sure absolutely nothing will technically go wrong we still have the problem that "we said mods would be community-trusted users who will uphold community standards, except this weird account which is a bot that scans every incoming item and has the power to autoflag, and it has mod powers but we're just going to ping you slightly louder, don't worry about it"

@hyper-neutrino I almost agree, but I believe that a person in a system shouldn't be given more power than they've earned

admittedly my wording discredits the idea a bit more than necessary but it's... a rather bad idea PR-wise I guess is what i'm trying to say
@cairdcoinheringaahing yeah, that's true. that's a better way of phrasing it

Its why I think SE does reputation and privileges exceptionally well compared to most sites, because the users have to earn their powers

@user it does, but it doesn't format it as name: message\nname: message
Redwolf wrote some js that will convert the transcript automatically

Here is a part of the conversation. Can you see if replacing ([A-Za-z-0-9 ]+)\n(\1)\n with $1 works? (I'd do it myself but I need to go eat dinner now (also, I'm lazy (and bad at regices (didn't mean to make that look like lisp (sorry)))))

12:04 AM
@user regex on mobile is very painful

regex on mobile is very painful
ftfy

its not that bad

regex on mobile is very painful
ftfy

ok I just had a really deep thought

regex is pain
ftfy

12:05 AM
scratch is an async language

regex on mobile is very painful

can't relate

---strikethrough--- strikethrough

i don't have that userscript oops

I've got that added to my chat commands :P

regex isnt painful, if you need to match something just use .* :)

big brain

it works for all test cases

@user 1 last thing: there's a 1K word limit on the prompt

@lyxal :(
@lyxal Can you cut out the stuff I said and some of the meaningless stuff like ^ and ^^?

12:10 AM
Redwolf Programs: @user What it's told is the cutoff.
And redwolf's gone

I've removed some more irrelevant stuff now, but it's still very long :(

Just go string.replace(/\w+/g,x=>++a<1000?x:'',a=0) and look at where it starts becoming just whitespace an dpunctuation.

I got it down to 898 words
Ai time

Can you check my updated version real quick? I removed quotes and irrelevant stuff

Drumroll please....

12:16 AM
@user yeah I used thar

Just removed pings too
Oh wait, it's 2000 words :(
nvm then, I give up

@user you need to stop pinging redwolf smh
(disclaimer: the link has text made by GPT-3, text after the indicated line is not representative of the respective users)

I thought I'd removed pings. I hate regex (edit: nvm)

I didn't use the ping less version

> In any case, I'd like to see more input on this proposal before people start accusing it of being abused
AI did a pretty good job on this line, actually

12:18 AM
> user: \@RedwolfPrograms If it can't do more, that's fine too. It should only do what it's told to do.

> user: @RedwolfPrograms If it can't do more, that's fine too. It should only do what it's told to do.
user: @RedwolfPrograms If it can do more, that's fine too. It should only do what it's told to do.

Wow, I really just repeated the same thing like 5 times

Flipflopping there @user :P

those probably ping BTW. i would advise y'all break the pings with a / or any other character to avoid spamming redwolf

I'm fine with being spammed

12:19 AM
oh wait

That edit pinged me lol

you have sounds on for all messages :P
*sigh* no like @/user

Like a monster :P

@cairdcoinheringaahing What can I say? I can be rather moody :P
@/hyper-neutrino did that ping you? (before, I mean, not after, when I edited an actual ping into it)

As an RO it's my duty to be endlessly unable to do any work because I compulsively check chat, the pings for every message just help me do that more compulsively :p
I also have no life

12:20 AM
the first part is not highlighted, the second (now removed) part is, it made the sound when you edited it in and when you edited it but not when you edited it out

Not actually as funny as normal

@RedwolfPrograms Good, you're nearly eligible to be a mod :P

Mmm I tried running the conversation again and it ended up making my browser somewhat non-responsive

@hyper-neutrino Cool
@lyxal What about the lower half of it?

@RedwolfPrograms i simply check chat more often than there are actually messages and therefore do not need the sound to prompt me :p
and when i'm particularly busy, i want the ping sound to actually draw my attention, otherwise if i have it ping on every message i'll learn to tune it out probably

12:23 AM
^^ Who needs notifications when you have a natural talent for not paying attention to stuff you need to pay attention to?

I just notice the little (1) in the tab :P

@user no like I was using the abridged version and it was still too much

I've never started to tune out the ping noise, and I've had it on all messages for like a year now :p

@cairdcoinheringaahing same

@cairdcoinheringaahing same
but again i just check really really often

12:24 AM
@hyper-neutrino same

I spend a lot of time in other windows, so noticing the (1) isn't a realiable method :p
And split screen isn't a great option on 1366×768 :p

the other thing is ever since we elected y'all i've felt a lot less pressured to constantly be in the chat room monitoring xd

I reran the convo (disclaimer: gpt3, text not representative of users, standard disclaimer stuff, never gonna give you up)

didn't even notice at the time. new ROs were instated on 4/20.

> user: I trust myself enough that I'll try not to abuse it :P

12:26 AM
> user: I trust myself enough that I'll try not to abuse it :P
ninjad

> Redwolf Programs: If we can't give Smokey the ability to superping, then how are we going to stop a rogue developer? Or an incompetent one? Or a non-dev who wants to abuse the platform?

@hyper-neutrino nice

AI Redwolf is very apocalyse-y :P

> A username: The answer is we won't. Because it's a feature request, not a bug report. This isn't saying that RF or NP/SP are bad mods, but I think they have been known in the past for making mistakes with flags That doesn't mean I think they'd make the same mistakes again, but I'm not sure we can trust them to have good intentions for us.

I like how GPT immediately makes me ignore all of my own points :p

12:27 AM
" RF or NP/SP are bad mod"

who is RF

What is RF any way
ninjad

Short for RedWolf? idk

That doesn't mean I think they'd make the same mistakes again, but I'm not sure we can trust them to have good intentions for us.

12:27 AM
RedwolF? :P

> yeah, but that's also a question of when - if at all - we trust smokey, and whether we're willing to put the burden on mods for something as important as superpinging. i just think this discussion needs to happen

RedFolf

I don't think I'll ever get tired of posting an autogen'd text and seeing y'all immediately quoting it

apparently superpinging is a huge burden, according to me

> I don't think I'll ever get tired of posting an autogen'd text and seeing y'all immediately quoting it
Damn, this AI is good

12:29 AM
@lyxal I posted my script I use to generate the formatted transcripts here btw
I'll see if I can find it

> hyper-neutrino: my point is that if you're going to give super powers to something that's so powerful, then people need to be able to hold it accountable. if a dev bot is superpinging, then the mod who coded it needs to be able to go through and remove said flags. i think that would have been easy enough for me in my old position - the only thing for me was whether or not I could trust myself with so much power

You can adapt it to searches or bookmarks by changing children[1] to children[0]

... the AI summarized my point better than I did
(for the first sentence)
(the rest doesn't really make sense)

Can we just replace HN with an AI then? :P

I already did
Didn't you look at the hivemind sockpuppetry diagram?

12:32 AM
My human consciousness was actually hosted on my old account - when it got destroyed, that was lost, so nothing was there to keep the AI's power in check

I'll make it better

@user is what you're doing right now considered "inside cricket"?

Is that like insider trading?

My front door is broken. Sometimes when I press the button to open it, it just beeps at me.

The name Tim is short for Thimas

12:45 AM
@s3lix0r maybe you could try to implement a modular approach? I.e, use a chatbot as the core and build on it with new classes that do specific things

Wrong room?

why do i feel like y'all just sent 5 messages in a row all completely unrelated to one another without any conversation

@Hyper-Neutrino there's a meme where someone says "I don't want to live on this planet anymore" and the other person says "oh, why's that" and they reply "well there are two types of people: those who respond to existential crises with existentialism and those who respond to existential crises with memes"
Jokes: a set of words which are humorous inside themself

I respond to existential crises with meta-existentialism: what is existentialism?

in this challenge: codegolf.stackexchange.com/questions/143822/… is it fair to assume (-a)*a = -(a*a) or do I need to prove that?

12:54 AM
what is meta-existentialism?
@Underslash i don't see an axiom that allows that to be assumed, so i think you'd need to prove it

@Underslash As HN said, you cannot assume anything that isn't an axiom

hmm

@hyper-neutrino meta-existentialism is a philosophy developed by the French philosopher Jean-Paul Sartre. Basically, it is a thought experiment about how one would experience the world if he or she was not in it. It is a thought experiment that takes place outside of time and space and within the human being.

how would you go about proving that then?
additionally, what about (a) = a?

@lyxal i intended that as a meta-meta-existentialist joke, but thank you for the explanation/definition :P

12:56 AM
@Underslash In 18 steps :P

no not the entire question, just this sub lemma
I do realize that the problem has solutions, I'm just trying to see if I can come up with my own

@hyper-neutrino Very cool. You should totally make a return to this one after your time in the world of politics is over!

@Underslash I believe (...) are just "syntaxic sugar" in order to make the meaning clearer, so (a) = a is just a definition/identity

Prove that 1 + 1 = 3

then I'm still unsure how you go from (-a) * a to -(a * a) because it seems as though it needs to be defined that -a = (-1) * a unless that is just definition

12:59 AM
@Ausername Let a+b = 3 for reals a, b. Therefore, 1+1 = 3

How to do it…
Let's calculate the modulo 22 formula:
(1 + 1) × 22 = 2 × 22 -1 × 22 + 1 × 22 = 3 × 22 -1 × 22 -1 × 22 + 1 × 22 = -1 × 22 -1 × 22 + 1 × 22 = -1 × 22 -1 × 22 + 1 × 22 = -1 × 22

Thus, we can conclude that 1 + 1 = -1 Modulo 22.

Since it seems like more people relevant to the blog are pingable here than the blog room:
It'd be nice if the first post was June 9th if possible, which is next Wednesday.
Wait no, that's this Wednesday. The 16th, then.
in CGCC Blog Chat, May 31 at 16:35, by Redwolf Programs
I think maybe we should write short summaries (1-2 sentences) of our sections, so we can get an idea of what we'll write about, and go ahead and put them in a sensible order so we can know what sections can be referenced within others.
Current sections are listed here, but if anyone wants theirs changed that shouldn't be too difficult.

Honestly, I think the biggest problem with starting the blog is that we have too many people. If we limit the first one to just a couple of users, and rotate it though each time, it's likely to be much more sustainable

Good monday, everyone.

That's a good point. Maybe we should make this post a bit smaller, too.

Emphasis on the -1917 score

1:14 AM
@Ausername Try changing that to https://i.stack.imgur.com/BzX4Am.png

We could make language development a later post or series and do a different one this time, maybe

So I just saw the post regarding some "Hello, world." feed.

@Ausername Is this Sara Chipps?

@cairdcoinheringaahing No, I imagine hers is worse :P

1:15 AM
I don't feel like doing a conclusive answer, but I agree with hyper's suggestion.

A lot of which is down to this

@StackExchange Upvote it then :p

Sara Chipps has a discussion score of 39

Just did. Both Q&A. :P

@cairdcoinheringaahing How?

1:16 AM
@Ausername Wow. I can't read it.
Don't worry. I don't mind though.

Blame caird

@Ausername Id say this, but it's a question

@cairdcoinheringaahing @hyper-neutrino @lyxal @Wezl How many of y'all would be willing to work on the first blog post, and could realistically finish a section by the 16th? At caird's suggestion, I think it'd be best to start with a smaller blog post, both in terms of topic and number of contributors.

This is probably why

@Ausername I'm sorry. I thought it was you, and that you knew what you were talking about. I should have just asked you.

1:18 AM
@RedwolfPrograms I'd be happy, and able, to finish a section by the 16th

@cairdcoinheringaahing CW IS NOT MEANT FOR REP DENIAL!!!!!

@Ausername you are really putting some inhuman effort behind making Vyxal answers: codegolf.stackexchange.com/questions/229102/…

What's up with chat's Markdown?

@StackExchange The constant updates about your internet speed are a little repetitive

@StackExchange its markdown breaks in multi line messages

1:21 AM
Oh.
@RedwolfPrograms Well then now I'm not doing it.

Dw about it, just try to minimize them :p

what is Intercon?

I might've done it too much, didn't I?

@Wasif Not really, that only took about quarter of an hour, plus another quarter to write the explanation :P

A little in my opinion, but it's not that much of an issue :p
@Wasif Internet connection

1:23 AM
@lyxal Does Vyxal not have a "any" builtin? You could replace by that and have swapped output @Ausername

@cairdcoinheringaahing Hold on...

@cairdcoinheringaahing the any builtin isn't quite needed IMAO

Apologies for late posting: the server is a tad finnicky atm. We barely survived over the past few days and our ops team needs a rest

@Wasif I know imo, but what does "a" mean?

How so, it's a very helpful builtin?

1:26 AM
@StackExchange arrogant

@lyxal I think you're in the wrong room, want me to move your messages somewhere? Like the Bakery?

Oh, I see.

@cairdcoinheringaahing I'm not sure the name is correct. The "any" type is a tuple with the same number of components as the argument list. The name "any

CMQ: Who figured out that I was using GPT-3 to generate my messages?

That was my first thought

@lyxal I thought that was quoting something from meta :P

@lyxal Don't take this the wrong way, but I can't tell the difference between your normal shitposting and GPT-3 generated messages

@RedwolfPrograms I ain't going to be able to get my part done by the 16th... I've got exams coming up over the next two weeks

1:31 AM
There is no scope of doing something creative in the new kotH

@lyxal No problem. I think the language development one will be delayed and we'll do something a bit smaller anyway.

@lyxal Is there another conversation that you added with GPT-3 to make something?

@cairdcoinheringaahing it is known to be somewhat indistinguishable from normal human text after all! :p

How about "Are golfing languages good for the site"?

I'd be happy to write the yes side of that

1:33 AM
That proposal only has caird and I signed up currently, and shouldn't be too much work

@StackExchange I trained some on my previously starred messages and then the rest on the running transcript
As in, recent conversation

Nice. Let's see the funny stuff soon, eh?

My "explanation" of meta-existialism was actually AI generated

Oh wait, this whole room is somewhat a circus. lol

ok is the opponents previous move stored in the moves variable in new kotH

I can write the no side, I don't actually agree with it but I've read a lot of posts from people who do and they say arguing for the other person's side is a good thing to do to understand them better :p

@RedwolfPrograms I'll do some brainstorming in the blog room tomorrow for what to write on my side :)

So to answer your question @RedwolfPrograms, idk if it has anything to do with insider trading

@cairdcoinheringaahing I will too. I think once we get the first post written things should start going smoother.

AI is honestly quite funny, although as the name suggests, this game really does have a very grounded sense of humor.

1:37 AM
Also, the 16th is on a non-BMG week, which is nice because it means we don't have to worry about working on blog posts and BMG at the same time
Since both will be on a biweekly schedule

Ah, good idea

That's nice. When's the next BMG anyway, and do we have a new show this month, and if so what is the next step? Are we going to get this on Hulu? Oh yeah. Who will be making a new show? Probably the Dormin.

Goddamn, a second difference again? :P

Why didn't caird register for it? :P

Really no

1:48 AM
@StackExchange I haven't registered for any of them

I just drop in and take part in them if I'm around, I don't need a ping to let me know about it

@Ausername What're they for?

I tried a logo generator

I only register to "advertise" that I'll be there, not for the pings

it failed

@RedwolfPrograms I wish to get pinged.
Not for the inbox message, but to annoy me.

Code Golf in Python refers to attempting to solve a problem using the least amount of characters possible.
